My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Update 12-18-12: Merry Christmas everyone!! It's me, Hamilton. I just wanted to let ya'll know what I have been up to since moving to my new Foster Home in Ashland City, Tennessee. My Foster Family is great!! I have three foster doggie sister's to play with which is awesome! When one doesn't want to play, I always have another sister who does! I also have fun with my foster cat brother. My Foster Mom and Dad and two Kid Brother's are pretty neat to, they are always giving me ton's of love with hugs and kisses everyday. They are also helping me with my potty training. I am working really hard on not having an accident in the house, sometimes I do, but you know what?? Foster Mom and Dad still love me, Wow! I am glad they have the love and patience to help me learn. I can't help it that no one ever taught me rules before. Foster Mom and Dad feel that I need a home with a fenced in yard. I truly LOVE the outdoors and if the front or back door opens up, I want to DASH outside!!! Another rule I need to learn. They are teaching me how to have patience to wait till my leash is on, then it is ok to go outside for walks. I could spend all day walking..I love it!! When my Foster Family isn't home I go and rest awhile in my crate. Not sure if I enjoy that very much so I bark for a little bit then drift off to sleep. Foster Mom say's that it is important for me to stay in there when no one is around to watch me because I sometime's like to chew on things I am not suppose to. She say's it helps to keep me safe. Oh and one more thing, I really enjoy sleeping in bed with my foster kid brother. We snuggle all through the night. I guess that is all have I have to tell you for now. I really can't wait to find a Forever Home of my own! Is there room in your home for me??

UPDATED BIO 11/21/2012: Hamilton is now being fostered in Tennessee - transfer happened today.

Update 11/16/12: Hi guys! Me again, just settling in to foster care. I got a sudsy bath and a trim, so I'm not feeling nearly so itchy. The Dogtor said I am a healthy boy, except for three baby teeth that are stuck in my mouth and getting neutered. Foster Momma says after neutering I will get lots of snuggles, so I think that's a pretty good deal. United Yorkie Rescue takes care of all my vetting, which I think is a super deal for applicants. I've learned to walk politely on a leash and sleep in my crate when Foster Momma is at work. I still bark for about two minutes when she leaves, but then I settle right in and work on getting the yummy food out of my kong. Housetraining is hard work, but I go right outside when I come out from my crate and I usually go very quickly. The kitchen has a little gate on the door that reminds me not to wander away and have an 'accident', and it works really well! I've been practicing hard and I'm sure I'll have this housetraining thing down pat in no time. I still wrestle and chase with my brother-dog Kiko, and I think having doggy playmates in my Forever Home would be really nice. I don't need another dog to be content though, so I could be your one-and-only too! Oh, and I might even get to go on a road trip to Tennessee soon, since I might spend some time with a foster mom there. I'm not too worried about it, since I like to take long naps in the car. Other than that, I'm still the same handsome boy who loves snuggling and playing! If you've fallen in love, apply to adopt me! P.S. If you're reading this on Facebook, remember: you can apply to adopt me on www.uyr.us and it doesn't matter where you live, as long as you can travel to get me :)

Updated Bio 11/05/12: Well Hello! My name is Hamilton - I am 1-2 years old and weigh 6 pounds, and I am being fostered in Charlottesville, VA. and I am one happy little dude. I was sprung from a shelter in WV on a rainy day in October, and I haven't looked back since! As you can see in my picture, I could probably use a little trim on some of my hairs, but I just like to call it "shabby chic". I am all tail wags and kisses, with a whole lot of handsome good looks to round it out. Foster Momma said I should share a little about myself, so here goes: I love my foster brother Kiko, even though he's 14 lbs and I'm only 6lbs! Other dogs are really just new friends, so if you already have furkids I won't mind them one bit. I live next door to human kids, and I love them, because they're lower to the ground -- all the better to give kisses to! Kids over 12 would be nice though, since I am pretty small. I'm learning about leash walking here too. Foster Momma and I walk about 4 miles a day because I am all go-go-go! I'm also studying hard on housetraining and crate training. Right now I get a little worried when I am alone, but my crate has a wonderful soft bed and I get stuffed food toys to keep me busy. The perfect home for me would have active and dog-savvy parents, who aren't afraid to take me out exploring. Lots of walking, jogging, hiking, and adventures is just the thing to keep my active brain busy! I would love some training classes too, because that is a great way to practice my tricks with distractions. Of course snuggling is also a standing requirement, but I am so very lovable that I doubt getting snuggles will be an issue! If I sound like the pup for you, apply for me!

Note from Foster Momma: If you are reading this on Facebook, you can apply to adopt at www.uyr.us ... just click on the "Looking for Love" page and scroll down to Virginia! We adopt out-of-state, as long as you can travel to pick up the pup in person. Hamilton can't wait to meet you!

Initial Bio 10/31/12: Hamilton (West Virginia) was just saved tonight from a kill shelter. Poor little guy was found wandering alone in the tree-lined streets, matted, flea infested, and neglected. "Hammy" is about 8 pounds and 1-2 years old and will be getting a full vet exam this week. Stay tuned as we get to know more about him.
