My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Dog Story:
My name is Kermit, I will tell you about me but I don’t know if I can stay still long enough! I do have some special needs. I am a “work in progress” and everyone tells me I need a home with patience. I have to be on a special diet for my food allergies. I can have treats made of pumpkin & oatmeal, which I love because they are baked especially for me! No milk bones or people food though. I am working at fattening up. 4 pounds in 2 months! I am on a medication but I think it’s a treat. My foster mom is weaning me down on it but my vet says I will always need it on hand. My foster mom is a Vet tech so she can explain in depth my diet needs to whoever may be my forever family. Now the fun stuff - I know to come when called, I am very good at sit and take treats so gently. My foster Dad says I have no manners but hey I was never taught! I am getting the potty training thing down. My foster parents take me out a lot though and tell me to “go potty” which I do after 2-3 twists & turns. I need tons of help with this weird leash thing they put on me. I just want to run free but mom says no way. I am happy in my crate with a good rawhide to munch on during work hours and prefer to sleep in the bed but am still happy in the crate at night. I love to play with my foster sister & other dogs. I live with cats and like to play “bark & chase” but am told this is bad, but I think it is fun. I should warn you I can play for 24 hours a day with no breaks if I am allowed. Though I love the snuggles & kissing sessions on the couch or the bed! My foster parents have a very high fence which is good because I have springs in my feet! I can’t jump this fence so I am currently tunneling under it, though I am told this is bad also but like I said it is fun and I don’t know any better yet. My foster mom calls me “kermworm” and “Wormit” because any door open a crack is nothing for me to worm my way through. My favorite thing in the world is WATER WATER WATER!! Any water will do -pool, baby pool, mud puddle, water dish. My foster sister thinks I am weird because I love playing with the garden hose, Hey water comes out sometimes and it is the coolest thing!! So are you intrigued by me yet? If so, and you want to learn more about me then please fill out an adoption application. Foster mom here: Kermit is a prince, he is so loving and wants to be loved, and he runs up and jumps in your lap and just wants attention. Every day he sits a little longer for the snuggle and kiss sessions. He is just very high energy even for a Brittany. He seems to be taking more breaks and I have even caught him taking a nap the past few days. He is a fast learner and wants to please.

UPDATE 10/07:
Kermit has improved greatly since coming into rescue; he loves to have more human time on the couch with us. He is listening a lot better, he actually knows “NO” and what “high five” means! When taken for routine walks he will actually settle down in the evening and does not need constant entertainment. I have also noticed that when his foster brother and sister are not around he is actually a lot calmer. He has less pacing energy and requires more love and attention. he will actually come to us now and just flops down besides us and fall asleep. We are still working on the leash though! The special diet that he is on is working wonders and has gained weight and is looking good!

History:
Kermit came into rescue when a wonderful volunteer with Springer Rescue saw me at the shelter, and bailed me out of jail. She then called ABR to see if they had space for me, and that is how I got my wonderful foster mom who has taken such great care of me.

Kermit is up to date on his shots and is heartworm negative.
