My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Fostered in Raleigh Nc

Rhino was an owner surrender to the Petersburg animal shelter in Petersburg VA when his owner decided to move to a place where pit bulls weren't allowed.  He didn't bother to look for a home where his buddy was allowed before dropping him off.  Most pit bulls don't make it out of the shelter alive but Rhino (not his previous name) was lucky because he's just so goofy and sweet and he is DEAF. We happened to have a foster home that wanted to work with another deaf dog.

Rhino is blue and white with icy blue/green eyes. They are very unusual in their lack of color, there is a grey ring around the iris and a darker grey around the pupil. The majority of the iris is a nearly crystal clear blue green.  Rhino is about 11 months old and all puppy. He's going to be a big boy. He's got a very bulldoggy tall look and will probably be 60-70lbs when he's all filled out.  He's like a bull in a china shop right now thinking he's so cute and cuddly.  He pulls hard on a leash and is getting remedial leash manners right now.  He's learning to ride nicely in the car so he doesn't chase cars from side to side anymore.  Everything is just fun, fun, fun!

Rhino is deaf so a fenced yard will be a requirement.  He is crate trained and house broken.  He does appear to hear loud noises but training purposes he is a deaf dog and is learning hand signs for commands.  He's food motivated and eager to make eye contact.  He's fully vaccinated, neutered, microchipped and tested negative for heartworms.

Please keep in mind that we are a foster based rescue only. There is no facility where these dogs can be visited prior to application approval as they are all in private homes. This is for both the safety of our foster homes and our dogs. Please take a minute to fill out the adoption application if you are interested in one of our dogs. We also do not place our pit bulls in homes with dogs of the same gender. We adopt as single dogs or to homes with dogs of the opposite gender only. We appreciate breed experience.
