ARIES, 1.5 y/o male Weimaraner (mix?) On one hand Aries appears to be a purebred Weimaraner from a breeding whose priority was not confirmation but athleticism, but he could also be mixed with a boxer or a Mastiff. We will never know for sure as this poor fellow was dropped off by his owners for boarding and never picked up. We soon learned that he is heart worm positive which could be the reason for being abandoned, but we will provide the necessary treatment and he will be heart worm free very soon. The owner of the boarding facility became concerned for Aries in a kennel environment and urged us to take him into our rescue program. She describes Aires as a "spunky boy" who is very active and LOVES to chase the ball. Aries has been evaluated by NCWR and was found to be a nice dog with a lot of energy and strength. He is excitable and barks when in his dog run if other dogs are near by, but when out loose with them, he is fine. Aries loves people and enjoys being around other dogs; he has not yet been tested with children (we know his energy and size alone puts kids at a minimum of age 12 for this guy.) He will need a strong, confident handler as he is young, exuberant and strong himself. He knows a couple commands and has some manners, and will no doubt respond very well to clear leadership from someone with large breed experience, and continued obedience training. But the most critical part of Aries success will be daily exercise. Aries has not been tested in a crate nor around cats; his bio will be updated as we learn more about him from his foster family.
