My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

FOSTER LOCATION: Kaysville, UT

This cute little bat-eared chi-weenie is Mimi! This girl has been through a lot the last few months and needs to find her furever home soon. Mimi was sitting in a shelter in New Mexico, so when her time was almost up, a shelter here in Utah had her and many other small dogs shipped here to Utah. Mimi was so shy at the shelter that she’d just lay in the dog bed and hide from everyone. There was no interest in her because she was nearly invisible. A foster family from Fuzzy Pawz Rescue went to the shelter to pull a different dog, but their 9 year old son found something special in Mimi. He was so upset that she was at the shelter that he begged to pull her into foster care. Somehow he got his wish! Mimi absolutely loves her boy “Isaac” and sleeps with him every night. Isaac, his little brother and sister were raised around all manner of dogs their whole life so they are very calm and gentle. I don’t know if Mimi would do as well with other small children unless they can remain calm and know not to pick her up or know when to leave her alone. She loves them all if they can respect her boundaries and wishes.

Mimi would do great in a home with a single adult who can give her all their attention! She would also do great with a family who would include her in their everyday lives. She LOVES car rides and wants to go everywhere her foster mom goes. She is small enough to haul around and not take up anyone else’s seat and is protective of her people. She will need a bit of time to adjust, but will be your loyal companion once she see’s that you are going to love her!

Just like any tiny breed dog, Mimi is taking a bit longer to potty train. She is really good at going outside when you ask, just not so good about letting you know that she needs to go out. We are going to invest in some doggy bells so that she can let us know when she needs out and I think it is going to make a world of difference. She goes to the door and even scratches and waits but she doesn’t make a peep so if you aren’t there to see it, you would never know.

From Isaac:

"This cute little dog is called Mimi. Our family fosters dogs. When we were at the shelter to pick up a foster, I saw this cute little bat-eared dog. Something about her made me just love her. I fought my mom, dad and the shelter for her to come to our house for fostering. The name Mimi came from when we were looking for names in other languages that mean things like ears or bat! We got the name from the word "ears" in Japanese. Mimi has not yet figured out the doggy door. She will not run away unless you follow her, if you don't follow her and call, she'll come right back. That's pretty much it."

Mimi is good with respectful kids and great with dogs and cats! I think she wants to eat the chickens however! She is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped and ready to go home!
