Here's what the humans have to say about me:
This is sweet Hershey and she's an 11 months old (5/15/13) black Labrador Retriever mix who she came to the shelter with 2 other puppies when she was only 6 weeks old. They were found abandoned at a deer camp and were literally starving and full of ticks. Hershey's brown and tan brother was adopted at 8 weeks, but even though Hershey was looked at, it seemed that no one wanted an all black puppy. Hershey has been at the shelter now for almost a year and has had demodex three times. The vet told us that the reoccurrence is caused from stress. Shelter life is not easy for Hershey, but she is a very nice dog and gets along well with other dogs. She has been spayed and is up to date with shots.
UPDATE: Hershey is now in foster here in New England and we hope that she will thrive and do much better with her demodex in a home environment until we can find her a perfect family...the forever family she so deserves! Hershey is improving in foster and learning the ropes of being just a dog in a home...she is a timid girl and because of this we are recommending that she be in a home with no children, maybe a young active couple with another dog as she loves other dogs and kitties too! Hershey has been through a lot in her short life but she is growing increasingly confident and with a family that will take the time and patience with her to help her come out of her shell she will make a great pet. Hershey is all about the ball says her foster mom!!
