My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bio Update 7/19/13: Trinket just came home from the Hospital. She is on considerable pain medication as this surgery has proven to cause her to be in much more pain than her other leg. She has a pain patch to help her stay relaxed and not bother her leg. Trinket will need to be in a very small area 1.5" square for the next 4-8 weeks to allow her leg the best opportunity to heal. In all likelihood, Trinket will be sitting on my lap getting some serious 1-on-1 time during these next several weeks!

If you are able to help with her medical bills, she sure appreciates your love!

Bio Update 7/19/13: Trinket: Zzzzzzzzzzzz, Owie, ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
FM: Trinket was healing very well from her first surgery. She was seen and evaluated yesterday. Because everything on her right side is stable, they chose to go forward with surgery today on her other leg. She is in surgery as we speak.

Trinket's right leg was healing enough to allow her to begin to walk instead of hop. Her back end is up about 2 inches - She looks so tall! Now all she wants to do is run, but that will have to wait as we begin the long recovery process for the left leg and strengthening her left. No more bunny hops for Miss Trinket - she will be able to walk on her own like a normal puppy! Thank you to everyone who has helped with donations and good wishes for the success of her surgeries! Trinket sure appreciates it :)

Bio Update 6/15/13: Hi, Trinket here Oooooowwwwwwwwweeeeeeeeee! I'm going to let my FM give you my pupdate....

FM here: Trinket had her surgery on Thursday and came through better than they expected. They did not have to cut her femur which is FANTASTIC news!!! They told me that her knee was the worst they had ever seen. She has a few pins and an elastic band to try to help hold the bone in place as an extra precaution. Trinket is in a lot of pain right now so I am constantly evaluating her and trying to help her stay ahead of the pain. Because her leg is so radically different from what she had, she will need 5-6 therapy sessions each day to ensure the swelling is decreasing and to teach her how to use her muscles appropriately as she learns to walk for the first time. If everything goes well, she will have her left knee done the week of July 15. Please keep her in your thoughts as it is a difficult road for a little baby to travel. Thank you so much to all of you who have contributed to Trinket's medical expenses - she will have LOTS more as we head into surgery on her other leg. Thank you so much for reading and caring about this wonderful little girl - with your help, she will be running with all the other dogs soon! Thank you, Trinket!

Bio Update 6/11/13: Trinket here!! Well, Mama says that I get to go see a cat tomorrow. I don't see what the big deal is about going to see a cat, but I'll do my best because Mama says it is a good thing.

Foster mom here: Well, once again Trinket is just a bit off.... Trinket is not going to see a cat tomorrow - she is having her CAT scan done! Silly girl. We hope to find out exactly what they can do to correct her femurs, knees and ankles plus of course the normal spay surgery! It is possible that this little girl could be in surgery as soon as this Thursday. We will have to see what the Vets say tomorrow after her scan.

We both want to thank you all so much for the wonderful donations that have been coming in to help her walk again. We are still in need of more so spread the word for this wonderful little fighter. She deserves a chance to be able to be pain free. Thank you!

Bio Update 6/2/13: Hi Everybody, My FM said I needed to update you guys on what was going on. Well you see, I was scheduled for surgery but then I got hot - well that's what my FM told me. So now I have to wait for my surgery. I sure hope I cool off soon so I'm not in pain anymore!

FM here: Well to clarify - Unfortunately Trinket went into heat, which means a delay in her surgery date. If they would proceed with surgery during her first heat cycle, there is an increased chance of her having trouble with blood her clotting. Because of the extensiveness of the surgery, it was agreed that it is more important to have her wait to give her a better chance at a successful surgery even though it means she will continue to be in pain. In the mean time, she continues to try very hard to keep up with the other furry kids around here. I know that some day very soon with your help, she will be able to run and keep up - free of pain. Thanks for checking in on her!

Initial Bio 05/15/13: Hi Everybody - Trinket here.... I'm pretty sad right now, I had to leave my family who had been loving me since they saw me on a puppy-cam! I don't quite understand why I had to go - my FM keeps telling me that they really love me and cried when they had to let me go. What I do know is that I can't walk very good. I keep falling and my knees and hips really hurt. My FM told me that a nice Dr. is going to help me feel better - I'm glad, because I'm just a baby and I want to run with all the other kids!

FM here: Trinket is a 9 month old Yorkie who came to rescue after her family exhausted all efforts to make her pain free. Although I do not know the extent of her problems, what I do know is that she has curved femurs and severely luxating patellas. Trinket is not able to go up steps as the pain in her legs is too great and the muscle tone in her legs cannot support her attempts. Even with all the pain she is in, Trinket wants nothing more than to be snuggled and sit on your lap. Trinket's family did an amazing job getting her as far as she is now, but know that if she does not receive surgery, she will be unable to walk at all in the near future.

Trinket's surgery will be several thousand dollars. If you can help with her care, she (and UYR!) would sure appreciate it. Stay tuned for updates.....
