My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Ernest!
Age: 4
Breed: German Shepherd
Dogs: YES | Cats: [not tested] | Kids: YES

Ernest is a 4-year-old German Shepherd Dog with lots of energy to spare! He loves walks and knows how to heel with just the odd tug to remind him, and he will sit nicely when you stop walking.

He hasn't had a lot of dog socialization apart from another family dog, so he needs some work in the dog-greeting department, but he's smart and is starting to learn quickly. Ernest would benefit the most from a nice confident handler who will expose him to more and more of the world around him!

Ernest loves to play ball, but he loves his "Kong on a rope" the best. He prefers to play 'keep away' rather than fetch, but his family has been working with him on commands and he is doing quite well.

He would do extremely well in an active lifestyle where he gets to see and do new things, as well as someone who would like to continue training with him either professionally or at home.

This pup is very smart and learns quickly with repetition. He likes to be brushed/raked and you can even run the vacuum cleaner over him! He loves to try to get up on the sofa with you, but normally he'll lay on the floor or on a dog bed. Ernest was at the Vet in January 2013 for his check-up and shots and he is in excellent health.

Ernest should be OK with other dogs (with a proper meeting) and children, but he has not been extensively tested with cats and we're saying "no cats" at this time.

Ernest is fixed and up-to-date on vaccinations. His vet papers will be available to go with him.

Ernest is a local pup in Richmond who is being re-homed as his owner has fallen on hard times, losing his job and struggling to make ends meet.

Ernest's adoption fee is by-donation.
