My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Jet, a stunningly beautiful purebred male Weimaraner who is just over a year old. At 46 pounds, he may fill out a bit but he will always be on the smaller size for a male Weimaraner. This youngster is unbelievably gorgeous with a beautiful coat and the most soulful amazing eyes. He will steal your heart in seconds and you won't know what hit you. Jet came to us all the way from TAIWAN where a very dedicated group of volunteers rescued him. There are very few homes for large breed dogs in Taiwan, so they sent him to Mission, and we promised that we would find him an amazing forever home.

As gorgeous as this boy is, his looks are not the best part of him. He is just an amazing, wonderful dog with a very sweet and loving disposition. Jet is a young boy with lots of energy and a wonderful heart. Even though he has a lot of puppy energy, he settles beautifully in the house and is a calm boy indoors. He's a true lover and cuddler and just adores all people and has been good with the children he has been around, although he has not lived with children that we know of. Jet LOVES other dogs. He gets along beautifully with his  foster siblings. They love to play and share toys. Jet is wonderful with his food around the other dogs too. He is dog who is going to need a home with at least one other dog, so he will not be adopted into a home as an only dog. Jet is NOT good with cats, he will chase and perhaps hurt a kitty, so please no homes with cats.

Jet is not a digger in the yard. He's a very good boy out there with the other dogs when they are outside. He's not a barker but sometimes will let out a few barks when he wants to play. He is a typical Weim that loves to be with his person.

Jet is young yet is amazingly well behaved. He heels without being told to, He sits and has great recall. He goes into his crate when asked and is patient for grooming. He is still a youngster, though and will need to have proper chew toys provided, his favorites are antlers and hard rubber Kong toys. Jet has lots of happy energy and needs his daily exercise each and every day. He loves to play fetch! He will do best with a family that will take him to the dog park often to wear him out and let him play with other dogs.

Jet will need a home with at least one other dog, and like most weims, he will not do well left without his people for long hours. Weims are true family dogs and don't do well left for 8-10 hours a day, the ideal home will be one in which one adult stays home or works from home or works only part time.

He is a very smart boy who is eager to please his person. He should do a nice obedience class with is new owner if possible to cement their bond and set Jet well on the way to perfection. He is small and fast and would be a great candidate for agility. Some Weimaraner breeders are actually breeding Weims smaller so that they will have a competitive edge in agility, and we think Jet would have a lot of fun with this!

Jet is totally housebroken and sleeps well through the night in his crate. Jet is a good boy in the car and likes going for car rides with his pack.

Jet is a healthy boy who is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. He had a thorough physical including testing for Heartworm before he left Taiwan, so he came here with a clean bill of health. If you think you can provide Jet with the perfect home, please send an email to WeimLuvvr@aol.com and ask for an application to adopt, or you can find the application here: MissionWeimRescue.net
