My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Lizzie is a beautiful 7 year old Siberian Husky. She is petite (only 42 pounds), extremely docile and calm. She doesn’t bark, chew, jump, get on the furniture, or get in the trash. She has never ever shown aggression (biting, growling or otherwise) towards another dog or human. Lizzie is spayed, housebroken, microchipped, and current on her vaccinations and heart worm prevention.

Lizzie needs an owner who truly enjoys spending time with her and will make her happiness a priority. Huskies thrive on exercise so she needs more than just a walk around the block on the leash or a play in the yard. Huskies have a tendency to run away if free, so Lizzie comes with a remote control collar (Dogtra 2200NCP). With the collar, Lizzie can be off leash and she LOVES to run. She most enjoys being out in the woods and at the beach. She’s very well trained on the collar, so will respond to voice command (unless she’s playing with another dog). She does need to be leashed though to walk on the road. She may do well with an invisible fence at home (I’ve never tried), otherwise, she needs to be taken out on a leash. She loves to be outside. Lizzie loves other dogs, and although she has never hurt a cat, she likes harassing them, so I wouldn’t trust her.

The most important thing to know about Lizzie is that although she is so calm and docile, she doesn’t tolerate stress well. She will not do well in a home with a lot of tension or loud activity. She is afraid of loud noises, so wants to be near people when there are things like fireworks or thunderstorms going on. She will cower if people are shouting and will retreat from dogs or people that play too aggressively. If subjected to too much stress or constant change in her routine, she will develop colitis and diarrhea. With a consistent diet (no people food), a lot of exercise and a low stress environment, her colitis is well managed.

Lizzie is truly a wonderful dog, and needs an owner who can give her the exercise, time and love she deserves.
