Here's what the humans have to say about me:
"Bear" is an 11-mos old neutered male Black Lab/GSD mix who is super-friendly and super-playful. Want a dog who will play fetch all day long with you? Bear's your dog! Bear is affectionate and loves to be petted, though he can be a little hand-shy initially. He is friendly with strangers, but has some of the GSD protective nature in him, so he does alarm-bark at unusual sounds and sights. Bear was raised w/ a 3-yo child, and was reportedly good with the child; no surprise there--Bear has a sweet, gentle temperament.
Bear is friendly and playful with other dogs. He presently resides in a home w/ an 18-mos old female GSD, and Bear plays with her constantly. We have not seen Bear around cats, and since he does like to chase after squirrels, I will only consider homes without cats for Bear. Bear weighs about 70 lbs, and still has a lot of growing to do.
Bear is housetrained and very well behaved inside. He loves to curl up at your feet and will sleep on your bed if you let him. He obeys basic commands such as sit, stay and come. He is very good on a leash, and rides well in a car. He's somewhat fearful of vacuum cleaners and power yard equipment.
Bear was raised from a puppy by his previous owner, who surrendered him to the Sacramento SPCA due to health issues. Amazingly (and outrageously), the SSPCA "failed" Bear for adoption due to "excessive mouthiness", which Bear has displayed none of since GSRSV rescued him on 9-4-13. Bear is in a foster home in Elk Grove, where he went on the day he was rescued.
