The day after our 2007 Winetaster, we received a call from a rescuer in Pennsylvania needing our help. She was desperately trying to find rescues to help with a lot of puppies at a kill shelter in West Virginia. Their time was up so action was urgently needed. We committed to taking a number of these beautiful dogs and puppies that would otherwise be euthanized. They arrived on October 21 and have now settled in and are ready for adoption.

Gabby is a somewhat timid little girl, with beautiful coloring, and a sweet disposition. We believe she is only about a year old, as she is still somewhat fond of chewing and needs to be watched and handed a “good chew” when she picks up something inappropriate. She responds effectively to food bribes, which work for just about anything, as long as they are good enough. She’s easy on the leash, but occasionally needs to be reminded that you’re together. Typical of the beagle within her, she is fond of tracking squirrels and just might climb if necessary. Gabby is an affectionate little girl and with a little training, can be a wonderful dog. She appears to be housebroken and has recently been spayed and is up-to-date with her shots.

Please note that it is our policy that families with small children six years old and younger will only be considered for appropriately screened adult dogs and not puppies. This policy is for the safety of both the children and the puppy, and we appreciate your kind understanding.

Check the events page on our website for more information and directions to our adoption events.
