Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Age: 1.5 yrs old (approximate)
Good with dogs: Yes, but plays rough and doesn't understand social cues so should be the only dog in the home
Good with cats: Unknown
Good with kids: Yes
Weight: 60 lbs
Name/Nicknames: Armor

My Story: Armor was found as a stray and spent a month in a local impound, never reclaimed by his owners. Pet Haven took him in so he could receive one-on-one work with a foster home. He has gone through Level One obedience with his foster home and passed with flying colors!

Hobbies: Armor loves to play! He loves chewing on his toys or bones, especially if you will play with him! He is also very happy cuddling on the couch with you, hopefully tucked under the blanket if it is cold outside. He likes going for walks and car rides.

Commands/Tricks: Sit, lay down, stay, leave it, bang, and touch. He loves learning new tricks, and he picks them up quick!

Crate / Potty Trained: Yes to both! Armor is crated when his foster parents are at work (8 hrs). He will go in his crate when asked without complaint. He is also fully potty trained.

Activity Level: He is still a puppy with lots of energy and gets overly excited when first meeting new people. His fosters are working to teach him not to jump, but he needs more practice. However, at home with his fosters, he is well behaved and usually happy lying next to you or chewing his bone. In the time he has been in foster care Armor has mellowed out a little as he has matured.

Fun things I do: Armor is a very quick learner, and he soaks up the attention he gets from his humans! He thinks he is a 60lb lap dog, too. He doesn't guard his toys or food; he will actually try to share with you! It doesn't take many tries before he catches on to perform the task he is working on. He loves everyone he meets and has made many new friends. He is always excited and happy to see you and loves to hang out with you all day!

Socialization/who I currently live with: Armor does really well with dominant owners; he currently lives with an adult male and female who have experience with dogs. He has also met new people of all sizes and ages at several adoption events and socialization outings and has done great with everyone! As learned in his first foster home with Pet Haven, he does not quite have the social skills to live with any dog who is not interested in playing, as he will keep attempting to initate play- quite physically at times- even after being told not to. He is very loyal to the humans in the house and is sad when you leave him and will wait by the door until you come back, even if you are just going to the bathroom! He may let out a little whimper when you leave, but no loud howling.

My Ideal Family: Armor's ideal family would allow him to be the only dog in the household because of his lack of understanding of social cues (note: he does love to play- this requirement is not because of aggression!). He needs an active family who is willing to take him out to exercise. He also needs dominant people who can follow through with training techniques. Even though he has had a lot of great training in his foster home, please note that attendance in a formal obedience training course will be required for his new home, to ensure Armor goes on to be a breed ambassador with excellent obedience skills.

Armor is attending Pet Haven's medium/large dog adoption events and his adoption fee is $200 (cash or check only) and includes spay/neuter, heartworm check, current vaccinations, and microchip and registration.

Due to post-adoption services provided, it is Pet Haven's policy to only place dogs into homes within a 60-mile radius of the Twin Cities area.
