My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Drum roll, please! Introducing Candy: She is a two year old (according to the Vet and her personality) Boston Terrier mix who appears to have a ton of Rat Terrier in her also. She is alert and curious about everything and easily distracted if it does not involve food (this is a good thing because she will react to training if food is a reward) and if not she will get back to you as she works the room (she’s a hoot that way).

Candy is a lover and loves everyone she meets. Her tail is forever wagging since she’s a really happy girl. She loves her two Boston foster sisters, but does tend to push them aside in almost every circumstance. She is the first to want human attention, a treat, a toy, and food. Please note there is no aggression in all of this, she is just pushy. We have not seen her with kids, but she would most likely be more overly enthusiastic and too much for small kids, but would probably do fine with older ones. With cats she is untested. Again she works in the world of enthusiasm….there is no mean bone in her. She can be handled and touched…tugged on and reacts in good spirit. If she thinks she will be hit she will retreat….our guess is she was handled harshly in the past. Thankfully her loving and playful spirit remains intact.

Candy has been spayed and is up-to-date on vaccines. She is micro-chipped and negative for heartworms. Her weight hovers around 17 pounds. She is housebroken and sleeps in a crate at night or when she can’t be monitored. Overall she is very respectful of the house, but is curious about everything. Candy walks well on the leash and enjoys being outside. Car rides are cool with her since she is adventurous.

Her foster parents aren't sure what is the best environment for her in a permanent home because she is good with male and female humans, does well with other dogs and yet loves to the single focus point for her people. What they do know is she is a terrific little girl who deserves a human leader with a kind and consistent hand. This will bring the best out in Candy. She is willing to learn whatever you want her to do as long as there is a fountain of treats and love as the reward. Dad thinks it’s really a matter of her learning routines. Her foster mom loves those calm moments when Candy snuggles and offers her the look that says….thanks for being my mom. Candy is just a baby doll and will give back thrice what she gets in respect and loving
