APACHE IS LOOKING FOR HIS FOREVER HOME
Apache is a beautiful, eye-catching 3 year old sable merle sheltie. He weighs 21 pounds and is somewhat shy but very sweet. Apache came to us from Tennessee where a group of shelties used for breeding were being kept in less than ideal conditions. Fresh Start Rescue in Tennessee put out a national plea for help and we were one of many rescues that responded.
Apache needs an adopter who is experienced with shy dogs because he never knew what it was like to live in a house or feel the affection of a human. His progress into this new life has been remarkable. He is inquisitive, enjoys the attention he is receiving from his foster mom, and he is even asking to go out when he needs to potty. And climb into his fosters mom’s lap and curl up with her for hours to receive hugs and kisses. We feel he will greatly benefit by the companionship of another well-established dog in his forever home to help him continue to move forward. An ideal home for Apache will be where he will not be left alone for long periods of time without human contact because he was so deprived of this his first few years. We do not know how he is with children so we are recommending that children in his forever home be at least over the age of 10.
Apache is neutered, micro-chipped, up-to-date on his vaccinations, and is heartworm negative. If Apache sounds like the right fit for your family, please read over our adoption requirements before submitting your application.
