My Story

If you are at least 21 years old and everyone in your household is on board with adopting a dog, CALL 651-645-4370 between 7:00 am and 9:30 pm and we will return your call within 24 hours. If you elect to contact us via e-mail it may take several weeks for us to get back to you. Renters must provide proof that you are allowed to have a dog. Please be prepared to provide a vet reference prior to adoption.

Loving, loyal, attentive, sociable: that would be Jake. Jake is a gorgeous year old 45# German Shepherd X who loves people. In his foster home he has been living with a small Schnauzer and several puppies. Jake came out of a pretty tough situation, but he is basking in his new-found, safe, indoor home. Jake was one of about 20 dogs living together outside and having to compete with each other for food. He was pretty slim when he arrived and, surprisingly, he has been comfortable sharing his food dish with the other dogs and pups in his foster home. He loves play with dogs of all sizes in his neighborhood off leash park. He sometimes pretends to be in charge, but if he is pushed he drops on his back in a submissive pose. We can only guess that he was not the top dog in his ‘20 dog pack’. He went to PetCo and met lots of dogs and loved them all.

There is no evidence that Jake had ever been in a home before arriving at his foster home. Translation: he had a lot to learn including house breaking. He is doing remarkably well on that but he is not quite perfect. His adopter will have to be willing to continue to work with him for a couple of weeks to consolidate his gains. Taken out on a schedule he stays clean and dry. He is very attentive to his person so he should be highly trainable. He walks nicely on a leash either alone or with other dogs. He is madly in love with his foster mom, meaning he bonds well with his people and will be loyal and attentive to his new family.

Jake has been wormed, vet checked, and had first vaccinations including rabies and has been neutered. The adoption fee is $275. PUP does place dogs outside the metro area. See more videos of Jake on Youtube. https://youtu.be/p7PLrQQeEJ4 https://youtu.be/0Jk7Ym0eHO0

Adoption Process

If you are at least 18 years old and everyone in your household is on board adopting a puppy, call 651-645-4370. Please do not e-mail us as it will greatly delay any response. Renters must provide proof that you are allowed to have a puppy.
The adoption fee is based on the age of the dog and is posted with each dog. Potential adopters are interviewed on the phone and if this seems like a suitable adoption, an appointment is set to visit the dog and complete paperwork. We do not 'hold' dogs until the entire adoption process is completed.
