Story
Ruger is now ready for adoption! While we don't know his exact mix, we do know that he is going to be a large dog. He is approx 4 - 5 months old and 36 lbs. We are looking for a home where he can be with another dog. Dog-savvy cats are okay, as well. He will need to have a home with a yard, and he likely has some type of hound and guardian breeds in him, so socialization, mental stimulation, and training must be a priority. He is almost 100% potty trained, and he LOVES to please his owner. Ruger is an intelligent dog and will be a great addition to a family that meets these requirements. Ruger has received rabies and bordetella vaccines, two rounds of 5-in-1 vaccines (3rd booster due 3/18), heartworm prevention, neuter, microchip, flea prevention, and dewormer. His adoption fee is $400.

Story
Wilbur is a lovely little 3-legged beagle friend. (He came to us with a broken pelvis and unfortunately had to have a leg amputated; he has recovered completely!) He gets along with other dogs, though he prefers calm ones to wild pups. While he does enjoy walks and following that beagle nose, his very favorite activity is snuggling up on the couch under some fuzzy blankets! Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. Each dog in our rescue is in a loving foster home, where they can grow, play, and recover from their time spent on the streets or in a shelter. If you'd like to meet an adoptable dog, please fill out an application on our website, www.edcr.org. Because we are a foster home based rescue a completed adoption application is required to meet our adoptable dogs. April 23, 2024, 3:25 pm

PLEASE READ: Thank you for your interest in one of our adoptable dogs! All dogs listed are still available. If interested, please complete our no obligation application. This can be found at www.waldosmuttleycrew.org. Select the Applications tab, then Adoption Application. THE APPLICATION MUST BE COMPLETED AND SUBMITTED BEFORE WE CAN START THE PROCESS. It can take up to a week to process an application. We are an all-volunteer rescue so please be patient. Our adoption area is limited to a 4 hour radius of Indianapolis. We try our best to provide all information in our bios. If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask during the interview process. Some of our dogs have special requirements such as needs another dog in the home or requires a physical and permanent fenced yard. These requirements are not negotiable. Unless otherwise noted, we do not cat test our adoptable dogs. We also require that all pets in your household be spayed/neutered, up-to-date on vaccines and on a monthly heartworm/flea preventative. E-MAILS: We do not respond to e-mail inquiries without an application. We regret that we cannot respond to every e-mail unless you fill out an application. All the dogs we offer for adoption have been spayed/neutered, wormed and microchipped, are up-to-date on immunizations, have been tested for heartworm and are currently receiving a monthly preventative. If the dog had additional medical issues, those have also been addressed. Visit our website www.waldosmuttleycrew.org for more information and to complete an application. Two year old beagle, Dorothy, is ready for her "furever home" along with her best friend & soul mate, Luther! This pair had a pretty rough time in their past. They were confiscated from a drug house along with over 50 other dogs during a police raid. When we got them, they had to deal with drug withdrawal along with PTSD related to abuse & undersocialization. They have both come so very far. Luther now lets most people pet and cuddle with him; Dorothy still has trust issues but, given time & lots of peanut butter, she is now climbing in laps. Once Dorothy learns that you are safe, she just can't get enough attention and will stay in your lap for hours, snuggled up as close as she can get. This pair is also the source of much laughter for us as their antics during play are hilarious. Both are so mischievous! Dorothy delights in high speed chases and is incredibly fast; once she tires, Luther will pounce on her and they wrestle & play tug of war. They will need a large fenced in yard so that they can play & explore - two things they never got to do in their previous life. Dorothy & Luther are too scared to be in a home with children as they still have trust issues; they need calm, patient parents who will be able to give them all the love & attention they crave so that they can thrive & continue to learn that the world and people are safe. The adoption fee for this pair is $375; they are spayed/neutered, microchipped and current on vaccinations as well as monthly heartworm/flea prevention. Story
WE LOVE GILLIGAN!!! And we are sure you will, too! He's an adorable 3 year old, 20 lb beagle who's all tail wags & wiggles! Gilligan is a happy go lucky boy who wakes up every day with a smile on his face; he's just a little ray of sunshine! He does have neurological issues caused by brain damage due to a slight skull deformity. This could have been a congenital issue or perhaps trauma when he was born. As a result, Gilligan is permanently puppy-like in his behaviors & demeanor. He's a bit clumsy and uncoordinated but still loves racing around the yard & wrestling with other dogs. He's mischievous and is fascinated by feet when you are walking; he's such a silly boy! Gilligan is getting the idea of potty training but it seems that he might need to always wear a diaper when indoors ... we just aren't sure yet. Because of his brain damage, he's a little slow ... but he's eager to please and so much wants to make his "people" happy! Gilligan loves to go on walks and is absolutely perfect in the car; he lies down & goes to sleep immediately. The car noise lulls him into a deep snooze. Gilligan's perfect Furever Home will have a fenced in yard, a playful dog companion and someone who is home with him most of the time. If you think Gilligan would be a good fit for you, please let us know! His adoption fee is $225; he is neutered, current on vaccinations, microchipped and on monthly heartworm / flea preventative. And he's also had his teeth cleaned! Applications are available at waldosmuttleycrew.org . (Indianapolis area)

Story
4 year old beagle, Rafferty, is such a sweetheart!!! He is the survivor of a Tennessee puppy mill that had 350 beagles; he had escaped his pen at about 4 months old and lived loose until we got him at about 2 years old. He was basically feral and, although completely non-aggressive, avoided people whenever possible. Well, 24 months later, this brave boy now relishes armpit scratches & tummy rubs and is the first one on the couch so he can get the prime spot closest to his foster mom. Rafferty sleeps in bed with his foster mom & his doggy siblings and expects at least a few minutes of massage before going to sleep. Rafferty is still timid with new people but, if they are gentle, will soon be leaning in for attention from them. Because he has never known life without other canines around, he absolutely must have a confident dog in his new home. Although Raff isn't a huge "player", he will occasionally wrestle a little bit or do a few racing laps around the yard with his doggy friends. Mostly, he likes to explore the yard with them and have them nearby. Rafferty has learned to walk on a leash but is still tentative in new places. Because of his fear issues, he will definitely need a calm & patient environment with a physically fenced in yard in which to continue to learn that the world is a safe place. No children under 16 please as this would be overwhelming for him. About 4 months ago, Rafferty did herniate a disc but it was healed through a month of steroids and rest. It's possible that Raff might have occasional reoccurrences of back pain just as people do. A home with many flights of stairs is not recommended as this would increase likelihood of re-injury. He is crate trained and potty trained and is not a big barker so is an easy room mate. Rafferty's adoption fee is $250; he has been neutered, microchipped and is current on vaccinations. Additionally, he received a Proheart 12 injection in July which protects him from heartworms for an entire year. Depending on when he is adopted, we will add on an additional $8/month for the remaining months of heartworm prevention coverage. Applications are available at waldosmuttleycrew.org . Story
Red Skelton is a 1 1/2 year old beagle weighing about 35 lbs. And, as you can see by his pictures. he adores toys! He will gather 2-4 of them up in his mouth at one time and carry them around if he can. Toys are his "woobies"! It's so cute! Red Skelton goes out in the play yards with a mixture of male & female dogs and does fine but he is a slightly dominant male so he likes to play with the girls the most. When his mouth doesn't have a toy in it, he seems to always have a smile on his face. He does get so much enjoyment out of playing chase & wrestling with the other dogs that we would prefer that he go to a home with a playful female. Red is very friendly and outgoing with people as well. He was found as a stray and ended up at a high kill shelter; he was on the euthanasia list due to overcrowding and we were asked to help. He is just a wonderful boy! Red Skelton's adoption fee is $200; he is neutered, microchipped and current on vaccinations as well as heartworm preventative.
