Story
Animal Profile: Buttercup is a 2-year-old, 55 lb spayed female "Texas Brown Dog" who joined us from Texas on 7/15/22 as an unsure adolescent. We have worked diligently with her in training to improve her confidence so she can be successful in her forever home. Foster Update: This young and energetic girl will do anything for a treat and very much wants to please her humans. She is building confidence; however, her anxious energy translates to reactivity at times. Off-leash she greets humans with excitement or indifference both in the house and the yard. She is doing well with the three large resident male dogs in the house after structured integration. She can play all day and has benefited from dog companions who can gently correct and/or join in her exuberance, as well as lead her in confident appropriate behaviors. She is potty trained and crate trained and often goes into her crate on her own to relax. While in foster care, Buttercup has received training from Bulletproof Balanced Training; her adopter will receive a private take-home training session. This girl is destined to be a wonderful loving member of her forever pack. Adopter Profile: Adult-only household Large breed experience preferred Secure fenced yard preferred Other dogs preferred (not required) Cat testing available for approved applicants Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $400 which includes spay, core vaccinations per AVMA guidelines, negative heartworm test for dogs 6 months and older, and microchip. Adoption fee may be tax deductible as Dog Gone Seattle is a 501c3 organization.  Apply Online: www.doggoneseattle.org/adoption-application  April 24, 2024, 9:46 pm

Story
Animal Profile: King is an estimated 1-year 5-month-old 74 lb neutered male Malinois who was a stray intake to the Moreno Valley animal shelter and assessed to be friendly with dogs and people (albeit a bit unruly and in need of training). After over two months in the shelter environment with no interest, he became increasingly frustrated and was red-listed for "kennel stress." We have pulled him and we will share more info as we get to know him in foster care.   * King has been in foster care with On the Mark Balanced Training * Foster Updates:  King is a goofy, high-energy, friendly boy! He absolutely loves people and is a confident boy -- he has not been scared or hesitant about anything he’s come across so far. He is calm and quiet in his kennel, goes in on command, and waits to be released. He would do well in an active home that likes running or long walks. We think he would also love to try dog sports such as agility, nosework or dock diving. He likes to play ball and rolls upside down with his ball when he needs a break from running. He is neutral with other dogs and when allowed to interact off-leash does want to play (though he is a bit oblivious to other dogs' cues so would do best with tolerant playmates). He has learned to walk nicely on the leash and is doing well with the place command. He is currently being fostered by On the Mark Balanced Training and will come with a take home lesson to teach you how to walk him with a nice loose leash and a place command. Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550, which includes neuter, current rabies/DAPPV/bordetella vaccinations, microchip, health certificate, and heartworm test. All adoption fees are donations to a Washington non-profit corporation and all donations go to benefit the animals in our rescue.   Apply online at www.DogGoneSeattle.org Animal History: King was a stray intake to Moreno Valley animal shelter on January 16, and transferred to Dog Gone Seattle, arriving to Seattle area foster care on 2/18. He will be available for adoption in the greater Seattle area once evaluated in foster care. April 24, 2024, 9:46 pm

Story
FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED: Adoptable Junnie! Junnie is a 2 1/2-year-old, Malinois mix who is looking for his forever home! Junnie is a happy and sweet boy and loves to play and be active! He will require a very active family that has experience with working breeds. He would make a great running/ hiking partner and LOVES to play fetch. He needs to be mentally and physically stimulated so he would also do great with agility, games and nose work. Junnie is still learning how to socialize with other dogs and can be reactive and mouthy, as Malinois are, with other dogs. He needs to be the only dog in the home but with training and support could be fine around other dogs out and about. He will require a home with a fenced yard, no apartments. Junnie is not tested with kids but since he still needs to catch up on training and can be jumpy, he would be best in a home with older kids or adults. No cats. Junnie is on the wait list to be neutered and will be neutered prior to adoption. His adoption fee is $400.

Story
FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED! Meet Mama! She is a beautiful, 1.5-year-old Belgian Malinois mix who came to us with a litter of 8 puppies from an overcrowded shelter in CA to find a better life. She is a sweet, loving girl, who is learning to trust. She is extremely intelligent and eager to please. She will need an active home with working breed experience. She walks well on a leash and enjoys playing with toys. She will need continued socialization and obedience training. She can be an escape artist and will need a securely fenced yard with a minimum 6’ fence. She would do best in a standalone home, so she has room to roam. Mama has done great with other dogs in our care. She would do well with another doggie companion in the home, or fine as an only pet with continued socialization. Mama is vaccinated, microchipped and will be spayed prior to adoption. Her adoption fee is $500.

Story
Meet Quazi! He is an 6 month old Malinois Mix and is approximately 50lbs. Quazi is a very sweet and cuddly boy that loves to play and be active. He is still in the puppy "maligator" phase where everything needs to be explored with our mouth. He knows sit, down, come, and leave it. We are working on stay and no. He is kennel trained and potty trained. We are workimg on sleeping through the night without a midnight potty break. He loves other dogs, but does not respect their boundaries and signals to leave them alone yet. He can live with cats, but will chase and is a little nippy and food possessive around cats. He would make a great dog for bite drive sports as his favorite thing to do is play tug. He has had his femoral head osteotomy to remove his femoral head and healing is going great! He has a small limp and probably will for life, but is getting around really well so far. He would benefit from continuing rehab exercises as well as glucosamine/fish pils for life. Quazi is being fostered in San Antonio Texas and is available for transport throughout the US and Canada.

These pups are in Woodinville, Washington too!

Juniper is a happy, friendly, adorable girl.  She is affectionate and playful!!  She loves to play ball!!  Juniper loves to hang out with you or play in the yard.  She is affectionate and loves to give kisses once she knows you.  Some people scare her, but once she knows you she is darling and playful.  She is so eager to please.  Juniper will need a home with a fenced yard.  Juniper found herself as a young pup in a shelter in California.  She was adopted and then found herself back at the shelter after she was hit by a car.  She then made her way to us as a 'greyhound mix'.  She is beyond darling and is so deserving of a true forever home.  She has a slight head tilt (adorable) and has some hip dysplasia which may need surgery (but that is not a given) as she ages, but now she is absolutely happy and playful.  We did a DNA test on Juniper and we were amazed to see that her mix is 45% German Shepherd, 42% American Staffordshire Terrier, 11% American Pit Bull Terrier and 2% Australian Cattle Dog.  We would never have guessed that she had any Terrier in her - she is a gentle, sweet soul and has a coat more like a Labrador or short coated Golden Retriever.  And while her 'greyhound' roots are not to be found, she is an adorable member of our GPI family and we can't wait to find this darling girl her forever home.  Juniper has made great progress in addressing the reactivity issues and she is expected to continue to make great strides with consistent training.  Juniper is a past Dog of the Month: https://www.greyhoundpetsinc.org/juniper-march-dog-of-the-month-copy/ Sponsored by Kristy Spray Sponsored by Kathleen Meyers, in memory of Roxy.
