Smiley is now neutered, chipped, all vaccines and ready to adventure with his next friend. He’s doing well on leash training. He’s a sweetheart and friendly to all. He’s 40 lbs and about 2 years old. Missy can be described in one word "Sweetness. She loves life. She's very active and will help you get your 10k steps! She loves people and she enjoys playing with other male dogs. A meet and greet would be best if you have a dog. Would be great for agility training. Loves to run and jump. Missy is a really good dog who found herself homeless through no fault of her own like most dogs in shelters. She deserves to find a home that will spoil her. She especially likes to play with Brutus (also for adoption), they LOVE each other. She will need time to decompress from being at the shelter so long. She is active but knows how to calm down and cuddle. If you are having a bad day, she will cheer you up. When we move her from kennel to outside space and back, she insists on getting her hugs before she is moved. She wants all the attention. Professional Hugger! Missy can be fearful of new folks, so if considering Missy, you'll need to make multiple visits to the shelter for her to get to know you. Consider it like dating. First you visit, then perhaps some dog walking to see if you are a good fit. As well, we suggest a one person home as she wants ONLY her person. Care should be taken to introduce new folks to her slowly and methodically. Once she loves you, she REALLY loves you. Come meet her and let her put a smile on your face. She's a special one. Fenced yard recommended.

Meet Dixie Dixie is a gorgeous two-year-old black and tan coonhound. She was at risk of euthanasia at a kill- shelter until we brought her to the safety of our no-kill shelter. She is a gem! Dixie is incredibly beautiful. She has a glossy black and tan coat, endless legs, adorable ears, and bright, intelligent, sparkling eyes. Dixie has a delightful personality. She is a happy, affectionate, sweet, friendly, and adorable girl. She is athletic and smart. Dixie is very agile and a good climber. She’s learning to walk on a leash. Dixie will thrive with an active person or family. She likes other dogs and may benefit from a companion. Dixie most likely found herself at a kill shelter because she wouldn’t hunt. Hard to know for sure, but we often see coonhounds like Dixie at shelters because they don’t want to do what they’ve been bought to do. Having met Dixie, we think she just wants to be a family companion where her only job is to love her people and bring happiness and joy to their world. Dixie has been quiet since arriving and doesn’t seem to be a talker. If you’re looking for an incredible young dog to be your friend, companion, hiking and/or running buddy, lunch lady and travel girl, Dixie may be just what you’re looking for.
