Story
Hello, I'm Cinnamon! This isn't my first go-around here at PCHS. I'm hoping this time around I won't be here as long as I was before...I'm a pretty smart cookie, if I do say so myself. I've ben in a home with children under 6 years old and I am a good family girl! I'm also loyal to a fault, friendly as can be, and have a sweet disposition that's sure to win you over. My playful, energetic spirit keeps things lively around here. I must admit, I prefer human company to other dogs or cats. I guess I just love the one-on-one attention! I do great on a leash and am crate-trained. My previous home said I was potty-trained too.  If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to request an appointment to meet me. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. No need to call to find out about me, you can ask questions on the application or email questions to info@polkcountyhumanesociety.org. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and Minneapolis, MN areas twice a month. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual and we will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veteinarian ($35). Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! ##961378##

Story
HOMEOWNERSHIP REQUIRED! Meet Moose, the lovable Lab mix tipping the scales at a hearty 65 pounds. Moose isn't just a dog; he's a tale of transformation and joy, evolving significantly during his training journey since having originally been adopted as a puppy and necessitating his return to the rescue (due to no fault of his own). Moose's exuberant spirit is downright contagious. He revels in human interaction, and his zeal for games of chase knows no bounds. While he's a playtime aficionado, Moose appreciates and thrives with structure in his home, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable experience for all involved. With a strong leader and structured introductions to doggie friends, Moose gracefully maneuvers social scenarios with people and most other canines, showcasing his newly acquired board and train skills!  He did previously live in a home with another larger male dog, 2 cats and a young child. In the realm of training, Moose is a star pupil, effortlessly mastering all five basic commands; heel, sit, down, stay and place.  His quick learning and prompt response make him a standout in the obedience department. The ideal home for Moose is one filled with love and an understanding of his need for both affection and moments of solitude. His unique blend of independence and warmth makes him a perfect fit for households that celebrate individuality. In summary, Moose is a remarkable dog who has undergone significant growth upon his return to the rescue and is now ready to once again become part of a loving home as his new and best self!  We're confident that Moose will bring boundless joy and companionship to his future family. We take pride in the progress he's achieved and are so excited to share with his new family! If you believe your home is the perfect match for Moose's vibrant personality, don't hesitate to reach out. He's eagerly awaiting the opportunity to bring his infectious joy into a forever home filled with love. Adoption fee includes the following: Spay/Neuter Rabies Vaccination Distemper / Parvo Vaccines (includes series of 3 for puppies) Bordetella Microchip with prepaid lifetime registration Deworming ##435406##

Good with dogs,
Story
Update: Lady has the sweetest affectionate personality. She is playful and loves showing her love by giving hugs and kisses. She likes having dog friends but she will also be a perfect companion in a home with no dogs. Come meet this sweet girl...You'll fall in love with her instantly. Lady is guessed to be a 3 yr old Black Mouth Cur/Boxer mix and is currently being fostered with one of our dog trainers that specializes in timid, shy dogs. She can be shy at first, but warms up quickly. She has a young energy, is curious and when she gains your trust she will come and give you lots of kisses. And if you have treats, she will be your best friend. Her Foster mom is working with her on kennel training, potty training and socializing. Her goal is to start teaching her to walk on a leash but ultimately will need someone to continue to train her and introduce her to the world slowly and give her time to adjust to her new life. There are lots of other dogs at her foster mom's house so we know she is dog friendly, her foster doesn't have any cats but thinks she would be fine with them if introduced properly. She thinks she would do better in a home with a confident dog or in a quiet home with adults or older quiet kids only. She will need an adopter who will give her love and patience. Please consider this sweet little girl as a part of your new family. She will bring your family so much joy and a lifetime of love. Her foster mom is located in Fort Collins Colorado and wants to find the right adopter who is willing to help her continue with her training and help her gain confidence either with in person, or virtual training session(s). She will provide a discount on training. The amount of training needed will depend on the knowledge and experience of the adopter and how far along she is at the time of adoption.

Story
Frosty was named after her frosty face. Found struggling to survive on the bad side of San Antonio Texas. She made an attempt to get help from all surrounding homes near the street she slept and not one person gave her a chance. That was until one of our Texas fosters came across her. She was so hungry she had to be given a slow feeder for the first week of decompression. She is a very old soul extremely loving. She's an older girl in her golden years she not the type to take long extended walks but she will keep you company while you watch a movie. Frosty also enjoys the company of other submissive dogs but would also benefit from being the only pup in your life. Frosty is comfortable with children as well.  ##2006340##

Story
Rock has been with me for about 5 or 6 yrs. I lost my husband and he has become more dominant with keeping the other dog from me. He loves to run and hunt mice, etc. He likes chickens and cats, but they stay outside and my dogs stay inside or outside with a heated dog house when I am gone. He loves short rides in the back of a pickup or on my side by side. He handles with word control as I live out a ways. He does walk with a leash, too. He plays a little but runs around more than plays. He hasn't been around little kids but loves people. Rock is shy at first, then is all over people. He is over 100 lbs. I will make an appointment to get his shots caught up maybe next week. We are in Meeker area. I have more photos but can't figure out how to post them. You can text me or call me.
