Story
FUN-LOVING AND ENERGETIC PUP  DOB 12/1/23, WEIGHT 25 pounds (~35 pounds expected at maturity) Hey there, everyone! I’m Biscuit, a super-sweet, happily effervescent brindle-fawn Black Mouth Cur mix gal who just loves everybody and therefore craves to maximize my time with all ages of hoomans! When I bat my sweet brown eyes at them, they know I’m expressing my eagerness to please them. I’m a fun-loving and energetic pup who enjoys playing with my foster family as well as entertaining myself with my toys. I’m a very good girl whose favorite chew toy right now is a dilapidated old Croc shoe. I’m a quick learner who is already leash-trained and obeys a few simple commands like “sit” and “no.” Although I haven’t mastered potty-training 100%, for the most part I’ve learned to be crate-trained. I know about cats, but they don't know about me. And, of course, I love food! In case you’re not familiar with the temperament of adult Black Mouth Curs, we’re big-hearted, versatile, brave, highly intelligent, and easily trainable (as long as training's consistent). We were bred for stamina and love to work, so it's best if you provide us with regular exercise such as daily long walks, Frisbee-throwing at the dog park, or participation in dog sports. When I’m full grown, I’ll have a strong, fit, athletic appearance and, like most athletic dogs, will flourish when both my mind and my body are stimulated. My rescue story is a sad one. My momma, 2 siblings, and I were dumped in a neighborhood in southwest Houston. Unfortunately, my momma didn’t survive being hit by a car, and my siblings evaded capture and disappeared. I wandered up a driveway to "surrender," so I was taken to BARC by a well-meaning neighbor. My fortunes changed, however, when another neighbor saw my photo on the BARC website, came and bailed me out, and took me home to foster me! Now I’m ready to find my happy-ever-after forever family. Could that be you? Hopefully my sad story has plucked your heartstrings, and my new lucky-leash on life will continue when you meet me and I capture your heart. If you’re ready to fall head over paws in love with me, arrange to meet me today! Be ready for me to cover your face with mushy puppy kisses! HOPE ID 24-0318-0010 If you are interested in Biscuit and would like to fill out a Dog Adoption Application, please go to: http://www.homelesspets.net/adoption-forms/dog-adoption.php . Submitting an application does not obligate you to adopt from us but it initiates contact with us and gets the process started. Story
Hey, Vickie, you're so fine. You're so fine, you blow my mind!! Hey Vickie! So, now that I have your attention, I think we can have a convo about why I need to be your girl. To be fair, I'm not trying to diss my other furry friends, but some of them are SO EXTRA! Unlike those young puppies, I'm potty-trained and know the command "kennel. I may complain at first when left in the crate, but I settle down quickly. I like to play, go on walks, and greet all humans with big kisses and tail wags. If you want an outdoor buddy I'm your girl. I'd be great on hikes, and I love to swim. I am also able to settle down, play with my toys on my own, take naps in my crate, and explore the backyard when my humans need to work. I am also VERY low maintenance when it comes to grooming. I have perfect table manners and will sit patiently before eating my breakfast or dinner. My humans can easily handle pedicures on me without any problems! I have a fun personality and love to cuddle with my humans. My mom absolutely says I am the perfect house guest. I do need to be the only dog in the house, but trust me, with my personality and great looks, you won't need another! I do like to pull on walks, but put on a gentle leader or other similar harness, and I'm on my best behavior. I'll even go on runs with you! I do need my space from other dogs, but when redirected, I will sit to let others pass by. I am definitely food motivated, so a treat and some praise, and I'm all yours. Which brings me to a final thought. I am absolutely easy when it comes to food and treats. I don't need a special diet. I will even skim your pool for bugs. They are a bit crunchy, but hey, a little extra fiber never hurts. Vickie is a Female Black Mouth Cur/Boxer Mix that we estimate to be born around 1/15/2022 and weighs 50 lbs.
