Story
About the dog: Basil is well socialized and had consistent and extensive training using positive reinforcement and clicker training growing up. He has great house manner, super smart, potty trained, crate trained, loves agility, walk on leash nicely and can be offleashed. He enjoys hiking, city walk or just hanging out on the couch. His problems: He was resource guarding around food since day one. We were able to train it out of him(toward people) when he's around 6 months old, but he still guards against other dogs. He's very affectionate, and very friendly to strangers, but only when he initiates it, and does not like being hugged. He's super nice and sweet 95% of the time, and gets comments such as 'well behaved, friendly & sweet' all the time on the street. Although rare, when stressed, he can show aggression without warning. He does have bite history, and has bitten 3 people so far (no stitches needed).

Story
FOSTER CARE! Hi, my name is Eddie Solo! I'm an outgoing, confident little fellow that can't wait to make new friends.  I'm a 5 month old, neutered male, active pup that might be mix of Border Collie. When I'm all grown up I could be between 55 to 65 lbs. I'm a happy, energetic little man. I absolutely love to play! My favorite game is chasing toys, that must be from my Border Collie side. I'm dreaming of a family that is ready for a super smart, high energy exercise buddy. My new family will also help me with my manners and doggy socialization. Although I'm a fun loving fellow, I would like to find a family with kids 10+ to play with me. I can't wait to find someone that special someone!  My foster family thinks I'm a smart boy! They have taught me 'sit' and 'come' and they're working on my leash skills and potty training right now. They say I'm doing a great job and I'm very food motivated. I have a foster brother and we're getting along well! He's good at teaching me manners because he speaks dog. We like to cuddle when we're not busy playing. I'm fairly crate trained but I don't like when the gate is closed. I've been working hard while in foster care! I hope to be the best boy so I can find a permanent home soon. If I sound like fun, ask for me, Eddie Solo! ID#A940159. Since I’m not at the adoption center, you can make arrangements to meet me by emailing behavior@phs-spca.org You may also submit your fully completed Adoption Profile Form to behavior@phs-spca.org and a staff member will call you to conduct a phone interview before making an appointment to meet me in person. You must be 18 or older to submit a profile.  Application: https://phs-spca.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/AdoptionProfiles_dog2023_fillin.pdf *The application may not work on mobile devices and iPads. Please call (650) 340-7022 for assistance. Unless otherwise indicated, adoptable animals are located at our Lantos Center for Compassion at 1450 Rollins Road, Burlingame, CA 94010. Please note at this time we are doing adoptions by appointments only. Please call us at 650-340-7022 to schedule an appointment. Our hours are weekdays from 11am-6pm and weekends from 11am-5pm (closed major holidays). Story
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee. This dog will be at a meet and greet event on Saturday, March 23rd unless he/she is adopted prior to the event with a set up home. The event is from 12 pm to 3 pm at Palo Alto's Pet Food Express. Those interested in meeting the dog can come out to our meet and greet event. We no longer do application approval onsite. Anyone adopting has been previously approved and set up to meet prior to the event. Adoption Fee: $700   The Muppet puppies are a litter of 9 week old Border Collie x Poodle mixes who came from Sesame Street to find forever homes of their very own! This litter is 3 females and 3 males. They were seized from an unsafe situation at only 4 weeks old and have been raised in loving foster homes ever since. These adorable, fluffy little rascals embody the very best of the Border Collie breed and can’t wait to charm the lucky families who adopt them. We expect these puppies to reach 30-40 pounds as adults so they will be medium-sized.    Elmo: Elmo is the leader of our Muppets gang and he is Mr. Personality incarnate! Elmo is the first puppy to investigate new smells and toys, and sets the daily play adventures for the group. Elmo is confident, affectionate, goofy, and oh so sweet. This special boy has a love of all things soft, so he is frequently found carrying around whichever toy has caught his eye for the day. Elmo is usually on the bottom of the puppy pile, content to snuggle under the warmth of his siblings when he is ready for a nap.   Oscar the Grouch: Oscar is a rough and tumble little boy who is anything but a grouch! He loves to chase his sister around the house and run around after her toys. He loves his snacks and eagerly awaits mealtime. Oscar adores his snuggles and is more than happy to curl up in a warm lap for hours at a time when he needs a break from playing. When Oscar is ready to play again, he wants to lead the activity and adventure, charging headfirst into whichever new activity he discovers.  Oscar’s soft coat is a joy to pet!   The puppies wake up with the sun and are herded outside as their puppy pen is cleaned out. They are fed breakfast around 8 AM and then spend their morning playing with their mountain of toys both inside and outside in the yard (weather permitting). Lunch is served at 1 PM followed by a puppy pile nap for a few hours after the excitement of the morning. Once they wake up from their nap, they play some more with each other, their toys, and the resident household dogs. After dinner at 6 PM, the puppies get some one-on-one snuggle and socialization time as they unwind from the day. They bundle together in their pen for bedtime and head off to dreamland!  The puppies have been very well socialized in their foster home with dogs of all ages and sizes. As Border Collie mixes, they are very smart little pups, so they would all benefit from continued socialization and training in their forever homes. They adore people and especially love when those people come bearing treats!  The Muppet puppies are only an option for homes who have owned a dog in the last 5 years. Kids in the home should be over the age of 7.March 25, 2024, 11:42 pm
