Story
Meet Selena! This super sweet, energetic, and loving girl is ready for her forever home! She is an absolute goofball and is welcoming to any and everyone. It's hard not to fall in love with her. Selena is fully potty trained and has had no accidents despite recently living in a boarding facility. Selena is a high energy dog who loves to run around and burn off lots of energy! Her favorite thing to do is go on a long walk at the end of the day. Selena would thrive with an owner who can dedicate a couple of hours a day of exercising her. Selena would best fit in a home with no cats or small animals given her history of liking to chase small animals. Selena is quite the escape artist and can break out of a normal wire crate. She is also super snuggly and loves getting lots of attention. She does have a heart murmur that has been assessed by a cardiologist - she has no symptoms, so she is currently on a twice a day pill that she takes in a treat! If you're looking for a sweet, cuddly, and energetic pup, Selena might be the perfect match for you!Adoption fee of $150 includes spay, microchip, vaccines, deworming, heartworm testing, and heartworm/flea/tick preventionApply here: http://2pawsup.org/2pawsup_wp/forms/adoption-form/April 22, 2024, 5:50 am

Story
Loki is a great dog and I have been so torn with the decision to rehome him but it may be what's best for him. I am moving up north where there are more size restrictions on pets when looking for housing. I also got him with my partner at the time and she sadly passed away and I got left with all the animals we shared. We welcomed him into our home when he was 10 weeks old from the SPCA. & is now just over 2 years old. He loves to play and is a medium to higher-energy type of dog. He is a smart dog and sometimes goofy. He knows to sit, down, stay, spin, paw/shake, etc. He is very food-motivated. he stays in the crate when I am at work and doesn't bark when I get home. He sometimes thinks he's the neighborhood watch and may bark 1 or 2 times to alert you he heard a noise. he can be calmed with nature sounds. Loki would be great in a home with a yard or someone who wants a workout buddy for runs or likes to take longer walks. He sometimes chases my cat so be cautious if you have one.

Hi, it's me Beans. I wanted to tell you about me thru the eyes of my foster mom. Beans is a great, super sweet, well behaved dog. He is housetrained, crate trained ( sleeps well in crate at night). He knows sit, is very treat motivated (but watch those fingers he really likes food). He likes to cuddle and be with his people. He also walks well on leash. He gets along with my older female dog ( but very slow introductions with any dogs is a must to have him adjust well, him or any new dog). We do not know how he is with cats or children at this time. He is an inside dog and should not be crated all day. He is a youngster and needs lots of exercise. An ideal home would be with a stay at home person. Rides very nicely in the car. He has been neutered, up to dates on all vaccines and microchipped. He is heartworm positive but please don't let heartworms deter you from taking him home, they are completely treatable and non contagious. Friends of Wake County Animal Center is generously providing a $400 sponsorship toward treatment. If you have any more questions about me you can email my foster mom at dogfosterkim@gmail.com Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: White Weight: 61.5 Age: 2yrs 1mths 0wks

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All dogs on the Best Friend Pet Adoption  website ARE available and require an approved Best Friend Pet Adoption application before you can be considered or meet any of our dogs.  The link to our application is   https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC    FOSTER DOG INFORMATION: Pluto is an affectionate, 70 pound, neutered male dog. He was found abandoned on the side of the road in October 2023 and is currently being fostered for Best Friend Pet Adoption.  Pluto is very sweet, healthy, and happy. He is up-to-date on his vaccinations and the vet estimates his age as 6 years old. Pluto is great with all the people and dogs he has met. He especially likes people and loves cuddles and pets.  He plays well with the fosters two dogs but can be possessive over toys if boundaries are not set. He is house-trained and not possessive over food. He will sit by the door if he wants to go out. He knows to use the bathroom in the grass in the yard or in the grass while on walks.  Pluto seems to have been well cared for previously. He spends the day lounging on the couch, playing with his toys, and awaiting more belly rubs. Pluto is quiet. He will occasionally bark briefly when we get a package at the front door (but only if the package is set against the door) otherwise he does not make a sound. He will whine/bark briefly if left out in the yard longer than it takes him to use the bathroom.  He prefers leashed bathroom breaks so no fenced yard is needed.  He does pull some while walking on a leash. Mainly pulls towards houses (I think because he prefers being inside). We are working on improving his leash skills.   We have introduced Pluto to some kids and he did well.  He was on a leash and did very well. He does not seem to mind kids, but gives more attention to adults. He was fine with children running up to him, petting him, and grabbing at his face and ears.  He has met one cat. He was not aggressive but seems to have a prey drive so he would do best in a home without cats.  We feel Pluto could be with other dogs or as an only dog.  Pluto is crate trained; however, he does not need a crate.  He prefers to be out of his crate.  He is well mannered so we keep him out all day even when we are not home. He knows where he is allowed to go and what toys he can play with.  When we work away from home, he does great. We have a camera to check up on him. He sleeps most of the day and occasionally plays with my other dogs or with a toy.  We feel he could be left home alone or with another dog.  At night Pluto sleeps on a couch, recliner, or dog bed depending on his preference. He does prefer to sleep on the bed with us. Due to his size and snoring, he typically sleeps on the couch in the living room. Pluto is very friendly and well trained. He is quiet, gentle, and spends most of the day sleeping. He is great during the day while we are at work and happy when we return. He is always ready to snuggle up next to you on the couch and receive pets. He sleeps through the night and rarely makes noise during the day. He gets along great with my dogs and we would keep him in heartbeat if we did not already have two dogs.     EVERY DOG HAS A STORY: Pluto was found abandoned on the side of the road in October 2023. A BFPA volunteer found him and took him in.  We are helping this sweet boy find his forever home.      Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.    Applicants must live no further than one hour from Cary NC as our dogs must be seen by a BFPA veterinarian for all medical care prior to adoptions being finalized.  Our foster guardians deliver dogs to their new homes for adoption trials and we do home visits to finalize all adoptions.  We therefore require applicants to live within an hours drive of Cary NC.   INTERESTED IN ADOPTING PLUTO? Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.  All dogs on our website ARE available and require an approved Best Friend Pet Adoption application before you can be considered or meet any of our dogs. Please consider this sweet girl today! Here is our application:    https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC Frannie is a sweet and beautiful, Blue Brindle Pittie. She's about 15 months old and weighs around 45-50lbs. She is gentle natured with lots of personality. She's super cute and will give you a silly, full body "giggle" wag! She loves being with her people and is a wonderful companion.   Frannie has done well with her crate training and house breaking. She needs to be crated when left home alone (6-7 hours), and as of now she is crated overnight. She's food & toy motivated, eager to please and is learning basic manners. She is gentle with food and waits patiently for her meals. At times, she still acts like a puppy, but overall she has good impulse control and likes to chill on a dog bed and entertain herself with a bone or toy.   Fran overall has great leash manners but may need reminders to "settle/leave it" when something excites her. She can be an alert barker and would do best in a home not an apartment. Although, she goes potty well on leash, she would really enjoy a fenced yard to get her "zoomies" out. She has a moderate energy level and after playtime with her foster siblings, she enjoys exploring the yard and sunbathing on porch or lounging on couch/bed. She also likes to play fetch and learning to bring back.   Frannie would do best with good natured, neutered male dog that could help guide her when she's unsure. She would do ok as an only too as she loves getting attention from her humans. She would do ok with older kids (8+). She's good with "dog savvy" cats, but if kitty is shy and runs, the chase may be fun -slow and appropriate intros are always recommended with kitties.   Like many other rescue dogs, Frannie had an unstable start to life and has some insecurities, but she will open up quickly with treats and sweet talk. She has been in foster care for over 9 months and has come along away from the shy puppy she was. She would succeed greatly with a dog experience owner that can continue to build her confidence. Breed experience is always appreciated, but she would be fine for a first time Pit Bull owner. Please consider adopting (or fostering) this sweet little lady!   Check out Frannie's videos below! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.   If you are interested in Skye, please submit an application at  https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=WHMSYCN. She would love to meet you!   Skye is an adorable Pittie pup with soft, expressive eyes that will melt your heart. This pretty girl is gentle natured and has a sweet, affectionate personality. She can be unsure in new surroundings and may need a little encouragement with treats/toys & happy talk - but it doesn't take long for her to open up and be a silly, happy puppy.    She's food motivated and will be an easy learner with someone that is dedicated to training. When excited, she may jump, but she's eager to please and redirects nicely with a verbal "off" and/or "sit". Surprisingly, she has good impulse control for a puppy, especially if food is involved. She has even learned to sit & wait patiently for her meals! She's doing great with her potty & crate training - she may whine at first in crate, but will usually settle and entertain herself with a toy or bone. She is learning leash manners with an Easy Walk harness.  She also enjoys car.    Skye loves playing with her foster siblings and would thrive with having a well-mannered, neutered male sibling to help teach and guide her. She would do ok as an only dog with a family that is committed to training, socialization and confidence building. She's been tested with a couple older, "dog tolerant" kitties and is respectful of them. She loves children and would be a wonderful family dog.     Every dog has their story:  Skye was posted as a "Free Puppy" on Craigslist and a BFPA volunteer happened to stumble across her ad. Knowing that the situation could possibly turn out bad for this little cutie, she scooped her up and reached out for assistance. Come to find out, before coming to BFPA, baby Skye was tossed from home to home (to no fault of her own). She was in 4 different homes during the first 4 months of her puppyhood. This poor girl never experienced stability during the most important time of her life. She is craving for someone to give her all the love & attention she's been needing. With a little patience, guidance and security, Skye will bond strong with her family and be a wonderful companion.    Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.      Applicants must live no further than one hour from Raleigh/Cary NC as our dogs must be seen by a BFPA veterinarian /volunteer for all medical care prior to adoptions being finalized. Adopters must be willing to bring their dog to the Raleigh/Cary area for all medical care needed.  Foster guardians deliver dogs to their new homes for adoption trials and we do home visits to finalize all adoptions.  We therefore require applicants to live within one hour drive of Raleigh/Cary NC.   INTERESTED IN ADOPTING SKYE?
