Story
Name: Lily Breed: Brittany Spaniel Weight: 30 pounds Gender: female Spayed/neutered: spayed Age: 5 years Reason for Intake: Lily is afraid of the baby in the home and has also shown fear of other children younger than teenagers. Up to Date with Vetting: Yes Good with dogs: Yes.  She has been good with relatives' dogs, goes on group walks with dog walker, and boards with the dog walker.  On leash she is reactive to strange dogs as far away as the other side of the street. Good with cats: Unknown but on walks she is intent on chasing them. Good with kids: No.  Barking and growling at the baby in the home.  They are separated at all times now.  She has exhibited similar concern with children 3-6 years old. Good with strangers: Cautious but warms up quickly.  She may bark if a stranger comes to visit.  If they give her space and wait for her to approach and sniff she is fine after that and they can come in and move around. Resource guarding issues: Not from the people in the home or other dogs at the dog walker's home or relatives' homes. Ever bitten a human: no Ever bitten a dog: no Fears: Children, strange dogs. Housetrained: Yes.  Used to toileting on walks and in the yard. Crate trained: Yes.  Crated overnight and when they leave her alone.   Good in the car: Yes Bark when left alone: No.  Used to being left alone 4-5 hours at a time.  When they worked outside the home full-time they had the dog walker break up the day for her.   Destructive: No Energy Level: Medium to high Leash skills: She will walk nicely on leash but has prey driver for urban wildlife and will lunge/growl/bark at strange dogs on the same side of the street and across the street. Okay with physical handling/manipulations: They bathe her.  She tolerates it but doesn't enjoy it.  The dog walker does her nails.  She has needed ear and eye drops and they have been able to administer them. Known commands: Went to puppy classes but was too rambunctious.  Also worked 1 on 1 with a trainer to help them with her fear of the baby.  Sit, down, come, stay. Food on now: Acana Classics Red Meat Recipe kibble.  1 cup, 2x/day. Behavioural issues: Afraid of the baby in the home and has also shown fear of children 3-6 years old.  Not recommended for a home with young children.  Cautious with strangers.  Reactive to strange dogs. Medical issues: Heart murmur.  Couple of her back teeth have been removed so she needs her teeth cleaned due to tartar buildup.     April 25, 2024, 9:19 am
