We`ve named her Sabrina and she arrived with a larger group of small and large dogs. Sabrina`s has a best friend Patty Cake A900864 and we would like for them to leave together. They have been missing some lovin` from humans for a longtime as they`ve endured some sad people losses in their lives. Extra patience will be needed to help overcome their fears and to remind them of their indoor manners. If you are compassionate, patient and willing to allow these girls to be girls, while building new human bridges for them, you`re exactly who they need. Please expect to send extra time getting to know them, they are lovely and warm up pretty quickly. They are advocated for by all their shelter family including ClassicCaninesATX who are helping to make bridges out of the shelter for displaced older dogs that took a fork in the road of life due to hardship.

Meet Kyle, Kyle is a cute scruffy Cairn terrier blend and weighs around 11 pounds. He is about 2 years old and was rescued from a hoarding situation that had 70 plus dogs and recieved very little one on one love and socialization. Kyle has made an amazing transformation since coming into our care, he is great with socializing with other dogs and loves our workers. Since coming into the rescue, he has gotten used to being handled and getting attention. But he could still use some patience and TLC. Kyle is very playful and gets along with dogs of all sizes, and would benefit in a home with another social dog to show him the ropes! Kyle may be slow to warm up but he has learned to bond! And has truly bonded with our kennel techs here, and is happy to recieve attention now! He just needs a patient home that will let him know he is safe and loved! My story Here's what the humans have to say about me: Say hello to Bissell! Bissell is a beautiful Terrier mix who is approximately 2 years old and weighs 15 pounds. She came to us by way of a private rescuer in south Texas near the border of Mexico. She was found living on the streets in a neighborhood where she really didn’t have a home. Everyone knew who she was, but no-one claimed her as their own. She had a few litters of puppies and relied on the kindness of people there to get food. All of that is behind her now! Bissell is a sweet and gentle girl. She has a short warming up period to get to know new people. But once she feels safe and comfortable, her personality starts to shine through. She is VERY treat motivated and is very gentle taking them, too. Bissell gets along with the other dogs in her playgroup, who are about her size, and loves to do zoomies! This is completely curable after treatment and dogs can go on to live long and happy lives. Our rescue is one of the first to do Chagas testing for all of the dogs in our care and is having measurable success in the treatment protocol. We are also focused on continued education and awareness of Chagas to help even more dogs. Benny was found running the streets in a stray dog pack in the Rio Grande Valley. When he first came here, he was fearful around men and could be a bully to new dogs, but he's come a long way since then. Once he gets to know you, he's a sweet, funny, playful dog who wants to be with you as much as possible. Benny was initially cat-aggressive, but he's been around cats for several months and has grown used to them. He mostly ignores them but sometimes chases them. He can be around cats, but should not be left alone with them. (I kennel him when we leave.) Benny gets along well with most female dogs, but he can be dominant towards male dogs. He shows some resource guarding of both food and people and seems to want to "defend" his people from other dogs. That doesn't mean he can't get along with other dogs or other male dogs, but he needs to be introduced to other dogs carefully. The same can be true for introducing him to new people---he needs some time to build trust. Someone who is willing to take time and socialize Benny with other people and animals would be a great adopter. Benny is a great dog who really wants to please. He is loving, affectionate, and playful.
