Story
AATDR saved Archer from a high kill shelter when he was about to be euthanized. He's a happy, friendly, active boy who loves people. He could live happily with children 10 years old or older. He could live in harmony with a somewhat calm, laid-back dog - or he'd be glad to be your only. He shouldn't live with cats. Archer is a young, active dog who would love an active family and going on daily long walks or hikes. A very securely fenced yard would be great for him. Archer would just love it if you're home at least part of each day. He loves his people and being with them! Right now he's been in boarding for far too long, and he's longing to be in a home and part of a family. If you'd like to welcome Archer as your new family member, please let us know!

Story
Hi, I’m Marco! I am three-years-old, 50 lbs., and as handsome as can be with my incredibly soft coat, adorable smile, and curly-q tail. I was DNA tested and would you believe I have a total of 17 breeds! I was found as a stray in rural North Carolina in November 2021 where I spent 17 months in the shelter, 23 hours a day in a kennel – that’s basically where I grew up and all I’ve never known. I have been in my amazing foster home in Connecticut since March 2023 and while it has been so much fun and I am incredibly loved, I yearn for a family of my very own! I’m a big fan of pets and will curl up right next to you as I always love being with my people. I really like sleeping in bed with my fosters and will sleep all the way through the night until you wake up in the morning. Make sure you have a cozy blanket because I will paw at it to wrap myself up in it - I'm just a little baby boy! I absolutely LOVE to play and adore my toys. Tug of war? Yep. Fetch? I’m a professional. I am very smart and anything that helps my mind think is enjoyable to me, like snuffle mats, food puzzles, lick mats, etc. I’m always up for an adventure – I love seeing new sights and while we’re out and about, you’ll see just how well I walk on leash too! I'm a big fan of other dogs and I'm also fine with cats. Having another playful pup to live with would make me super happy! Now here's the thing, you're probably wondering how a handsome boy like myself has been in the shelter system for so long...well, long story short, new people make me nervous so you will need to build trust with me. However, once I know you, I'll love you forever. Kids freak me out so adults only, please. I'll need a family willing to be patient as we work on my reactivity to strangers and mouthiness because I just get so darn overstimulated and excited. My foster mom has already taught me to sit and I'm house and crate trained too. I'm a very good boy with so much potential - I just need a very special person! I am just so happy to be out of the shelter and start my next chapter. Once we become friends, you'll see why my foster mom thinks I'm the best boy ever! My adoption fee is $350 and I am vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm negative, and neutered. If you are interested in adopting me, please complete the application at form.jotform.com/200883908893166. Story
**I am located in Georgia, but I can be transported north to you!** Name: Jupiter Breed: Carolina Dog Sex: Female Age: 5 Weight: 40 lbs Vetting: spayed, microchipped, up-to-date on vaccinations, heartworm negative and on heartworm prevention House trained: Yes Crate Trained: She is crate trained, but her first experience with them was when she was with animal control, so she doesn't love being in one. Dogs: She has done well with male dogs, but has had personality issues with other females. Cats: She hasn't been cat tested, but can upon request. Energy Level: Her high energy side comes out when she wants to play. She will run and play tug-a-war with a maximum energy level, and she needs to play like this at least twice a day. But when she's done playing, she would love to just relax in the sunshine. Things that make me happy: Food and scratches, specifically butt scratches, and being with her human man. She loves her foster mom and is very protective of her, but she will always want to be a daddy’s girl. She is a terrible flirt and waits all day for an evening of snuggles with her foster dad. She loves her treats of raw carrots and green beans. She even knows the difference when given a choice and she will tell you which one she would prefer at that moment. And if you take the time to scratch her bum she will reward you by loudly purring. Things that make my humans happy: She is so smart. She knows how to give a high five, a regular five, and a double five aka a ten. She also knows No, Sit, and Speak and is working on lying down. She sticks to her schedule of eating and going to the bathroom outside, so as long as her human is consistent all will be well. Working on: Jupiter is still a bit wild when playing. She is not aggressive, but she doesn't always understand that humans don’t play the same way as dogs. She needs someone who can handle a dog who uses her mouth when playing. She won't bite hard, but there could be the occasional nip when your hand is too close to her end of her tug rope. She is also built like a furry little tank and she may jump on you when playing (she doesn't jump otherwise) and you’ll feel her compact weight and her nails. Before FAR: Jupiter lived her first two years on her own as a stray until she was picked up by animal services and was rescued by Furever After Rescue just in time to avoid being euthanized. She was likely never a domestic dog before she was rescued. She doesn't show any signs of having been mistreated by humans, but she will always be skittish around and wary of people. Special Notes: Jupiter is slightly skittish from having been on her own originally. She prefers the flight instead of fight reaction as her first instinct and will need her own special place to retreat to when she gets scared. She wants someone who will be patient with her and let her explore and understand what is expected of her. Ideal Family/Home: Because of her size and background, she wouldn’t be right in a household with younger children. She really needs a family that will be able to give her the love and attention she needs. She will want to sleep in the bed with you where she's not shy about being a bed hog, but she repays with sweet cuddles. She's good on a leash and loves a good walk, but not a long one, so she will need daily exercise through lots of playing. She would not be good in a home where her parents are gone 40+ hours a week. She is a special dog and needs a family that can appreciate her uniqueness. If you are interested in giving Jupiter a forever home, please visit the link below to fill out an application! http://fureverafterrescue.org/adoption-application.html It is best to submit an application through a computer. Story
Jazz is a 4-year-old mixed breed male who comes to PAWS from NYACC where he was surrendered by his owner. Jazz is a friendly and social boy who has no history of resource guarding or reactivity to humans. He barks loudly at small dogs on walks but seems more disinterested in most dogs than reactive. Jazz loves to snuggle and receive belly rubs and was wonderful during his first vet appt! He will make a great addition to any family looking for a loveable and loyal dog. Jazz is microchipped, up to date on his vaccinations and neutered.

If you're seeking a loyal companion to share your adventures, consider making Russ a part of your family. Adopt Russ, and let the journey of unconditional love and companionship begin – because every dog deserves a FUR-ever home. To meet Russ, please fill out an adoption application: https://form.jotform.com/91758283848171    *What is a Sato? Satos (pronounced with a short A) are a type of dog rather then a breed.  The name is Puerto Rican slang for “street dog,” but they are also known as Puerto Rican Found Dogs in the U.S. They are the homeless dogs, or urban free-ranging dogs, that live in Puerto Rican cities. Satos are small to medium dogs, usually not more than 35-40lbs. They have large ears that flop, long snouts and legs that seem just a tiny bit too short for their bodies. Their fur varies from a short thick coat to longer, feathery details on the tail and ears. They come in every color imaginable.  April 23, 2024, 2:42 pm
