Story
Meet Thor! Thor is an 8 year old, 16 pound white Chinese Crested who is looking for his forever home. Thor was surrendered along with his sister, Mimi, by their owner when he went into hospice and could no longer care for them. Thor is a friendly dog though he is a bit anxious when he first meets you. As is typical with his breed, he is a certified Velcro dog who wants nothing more than to be with his person. He loves to cuddle. Even though he is 8 years old, he still has a good bit of energy. Thor gets along well with other small dogs. Thor is overall healthy. He is heartworm negative and is on monthly heartworm prevention. He is neutered and is in need of a dental but will have this done prior to adoption. Be aware that the Chinese Crested breed requires special skin care since they are partially hairless as they are prone to acne and sun damage. His adoption donation is $400.00. If you are interested in the above dog, please do not email us and tell us that you are interested, but submit an adoption application. The link for the application is below. To submit an application go here……chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/ An application must be submitted and approved before a meet-n-greet can be scheduled. Your current dogs/cats must be spayed or neutered unless a veterinarian has determined that your current pet(s) should not be fixed due to medical reasons. They must also be up-to-date on shots and on HW preventative. Reference checks and a home visit are required so SE dogs can only be adopted in NC/SC, VA, TN, AL, MD and GA.

Story
Hi, there! My name is Handsome! This is Handsome, an 11 year old, 13.5 pound male Chinese Crested who was rescued by CRT in December. Poor Handsome has had a very rough life. He was abused by his previous owner and stabbed with a fork at one point. At another point his nose was broken. When he was rescued, he had a huge tumor that had been growing on his back end for some time; he had never gotten any veterinary care previously. Removal of this tumor was the first priority once he was in CRT’s care. Despite Handsome’s bad experiences with humans in his past, all this guy wants is love. He loves people and loves attention and cuddles. He will meet you and soon just want to be held by you and cuddled. He likes to sit facing you with his paws on your chest and his tongue hanging sideways out of his mouth, and it just makes your heart melt. He deserves to enjoy the rest of his days with someone who loves him the way he deserves to be loved. Handsome is feeling much better since his tumor was removed. He does have a grade 4/6 heart murmur that needs to be monitored. He also has some nuclear sclerosis in his eyes, but this is very common for older dogs and not something requiring treatment. Be aware that the Chinese Crested breed requires special skin care since they are partially hairless as they are prone to acne and sun damage. Handsome was neutered in January and also received a dental cleaning at that time. He has been fully vetted. He is heartworm negative and is on monthly heartworm prevention. His adoption donation is $300.00. If you are interested in the above dog, please do not email us and tell us that you are interested, but submit an adoption application. Story
This is Mimi! Mimi is a 9 year old, 10 pound Chinese Crested who is now available for adoption. Mimi was surrendered when her owner had to go into hospice care. Mimi was surrendered alongside Thor, who is also available for adoption through CRT (they are not bonded, so they do not need to be adopted out together). Mimi’s foster mother says she has a laid-back personality. Mimi is not a big cuddler but will lay next to you on the sofa and loves to be petted. She would make a wonderful companion as she follows you everywhere and just wants to be close to you. She doesn’t tend to play with toys. She is very friendly to new people and is quick to warm up. Mimi is housebroken, walks well on a leash and likes car rides, but is not crazy about being in a crate. She gets along well with the other dogs in her foster home as long as they respect her space but honestly doesn’t pay much attention to them and so would be fine as an only dog. She sleeps in her own bed in her foster mom’s room at night. Mimi loves her bed and does NOT want to share it. We are unsure how Mimi would do around cats but we suspect she would be ok with them. Please be familiar with this breed and their grooming needs if you’re interested in adopting a Chinese Crested. Mimi will require regular combing, bathing and hair trimming as needed and special attention to her skin. She has a good amount of hair on her head, tail and legs but it is sparse on her torso which is normal. Due to her age, Mimi has slight cataracts but seems to see quite well despite that. The vet said that she also has a level 2/6 heart murmur. Mimi is spayed, up to date on all vaccinations and has had a dental very recently. She is heartworm negative and on monthly heartworm prevention. Mimi is microchipped. Mimi’s adoption donation is $400.00. If you are interested in the above dog, please do not email us and tell us that you are interested, but submit an adoption application. The link for the application is below. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Are you looking for a cute, active puppy?  Let me tell you about Bob! Bob is a scruffy chihuahua mix with a tiny mohawk, who is about 12 weeks old  (end of March).  He weighs around 7 lbs and may be around 20- 30 when full grown.  He loves people and is super playful with lots of puppy energy. He would love a fenced yard to run around in and get his zoomies out!  Bob also has a serious side and can get a bit nervous when meeting new people and animals. But he warms up quickly and will be your best friend.  Bob is still getting the hang of this whole “pet” thing  and can sometimes forget his manners. He will more than makes up for it with puppy kisses. With training and attention, he will become a wonderful dog.  He’ll do great in a home with lots of toys to keep him busy, someone to play with (human or canine) and someone who can provide the training he needs to build confidence and become the best dog possible. Bob would love a home with owners who are home most of the time.  He likes being showered with attention and love! He will give that love right back to you.  Bob can get a bit jealous and grumpy when it comes to sharing food and toys. With proper introductions and supervision, he could be a great playmate for an older puppy or adult dog who is larger than he is.  Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.  ·       YOU MUST SUBMIT AN  APPLICATION TO BEST FRIEND PET ADOPTION TO BE CONSIDERED FOR BOB. ·  Applicants ideally should  live no further than one hour from Raleigh/ Cary NC.  For the perfect home, we may consider adopters who live a bit farther.  ·  Adopters must be willing to bring the Bob to the Raleigh area for all medical care needed until he is neutered at 5-6 months of age.  ·  Best Friend Pet Adoption pays for all medical care until Bob is finalized after he is neutered.  INTERESTED IN ADOPTING BOB? You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Are you looking for a cute and small puppy?  Please read about Gene.  Gene is a chihuahua mix who is about 12 weeks old  and weighs 7 lbs (end of March).  He should remain a smaller sized dog.    Gene is incredibly silly and loving.  He even has a heart on his tummy to prove it. He loves people, squeaky toys, his Nylabones, and zoomies. He would love a fenced yard to run around in.  If he doesn't have a fenced yard, he will need to get his exercise in the house or on walks when he safely go for walks after his next vaccine.  Gene really enjoys playing with his brother, Bob, and always wants to be the center of attention. He is still learning his manners so he doesn’t always like sharing.  After some training, Gene will be a wonderful part of any household. Gene will do great in a home with lots of toys, people, and perhaps an older puppy or dog to play with. He can get a bit too excited when meeting new animals.  He will need proper introductions.  And then he could make a great playmate.
