Story
Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home.  Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR.  We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone.  Our job is to find those someone's.  Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog.  They come to us because they want to give a dog a home.  We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture.  While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face.  Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home.  We want to create furever families.  Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today.  We'll update as more information is known.  Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days?  If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application.  You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side.  You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.  Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes?  Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email.  We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team   Date into Rescue: 10/9/2023 Reason for being in rescue: breeder release Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Liza is spayed, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. True to breed, Liza needs constant care for her skin. Like a teenager, her skin is oily and she is prone to blackheads. She requires a weekly bath in a charcoal shampoo. Liza had one of her eyes removed many years ago (prior to rescue). It is our understanding this was due to an old injury. On November 10, 2023, Liza had a bladder stone removed that was the size of her bladder. It is remarkable that she was able to move at all with this stone and that she lived through this. She is one tough girl! Weight: 12 lbs Height: 12 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $299 Fence needed? You must either have a fenced yard OR be committed to pee pads inside your home. Liza absolutely hates a leash and will not walk on one. Leash walking her for potty breaks is simply not an option. What kind of home would be best for me? First and foremost, we are looking for an experienced owner that has loved and managed the care for her breed. Liza is regal, but she does have a skincare regime and needs someone who understands and is committed to this. Liza is not for a first time dog owner. She isn't for a high traffic home. She definitely isn't for a home with children. Liza wants quiet. She wants a person. She wants a lap. Liza's ideal home is with a quiet retiree that has the experience and patience to offer her the lifestyle she desires. What is my personality like? Liza has lived the first 10 years of her life in the same home with the same person. She gave her human her heart completely. Sadly, life changed for her human and she couldn't offer Liza what she needed in her elder years. She wanted better for her dog and reached out for help. We are thankful she did. Liza arrived in rescue a very sick dog. In 2 months she's had the largest bladder stone we've ever seen removed and one eye removed. She clearly hasn't felt well in some time, but is on her way to a healthier life now. We can't wait to see how her personality blossoms as she feels better and better. Liza wants a quiet life. She is accustomed to being with other dogs, but is more of an observer than a participant. She doesn't want lots of company. She definitely doesn't want lots of people reaching to touch her (and will let you know this). She loves to ride in cars and prefers to be on your lap in the car. But leashes and leash walking are an absolute no. Maybe she could learn over time, but we won't guarantee it. In her previous home, Liza was pee pad trained. She simply is a home body who prefers to be at her house with her person and not going anywhere.  For the human that Liza gives her heart to, she will be a wonderful companion. She will love you completely, be thrilled to see you, and make you her world.  How do I act when I first meet new people? Curious but skeptical. Liza is slow to trust. Once she trusts, she will hand you her heart completely.  Other tips and tidbits: Liza's birthday is 6/22/2013 House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs.  If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.  Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.   To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home.   You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc.  Others here may be a better fit for you.  It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description.  Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a  dog not in our listings yet.  We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR. March 27, 2024, 12:43 pm
