Story
Clifford. is located in TEXAS. There are not enough homes for all the unwanted dogs down there, so he is willing to relocate for a good, loving, forever home. Clifford was dumped on the side of a rural road with a litter of puppies. They were rescued by good Samaritans. Clifford is a super wonderful dog. He is very sweet, gentle, and good-natured. He is super sensitive and scared of mean voices, rough treatment, and dogs that are mean to him. He needs to be treated gently so he will trust you. Once he trusts you or another dog, he is very playful and loves playing. He especially loves puppies and gentle children. Clifford has shown an interest in cats, so he may not be good with them. Clifford is mostly Chow. He weighs around 60 pounds and we estimate he may be around 2 years old. Clifford is crate-trained, knows how to sit, and walks well on a leash. He rides well in a vehicle but is a bit nervous about getting inside the vehicle. Clifford is fabulous with nice children. He is shy with new people (especially men) and takes some time to trust. We are sure he was abused by whoever had him before. Clifford does need work with housetraining (sure he has never been in a house before) and could probably use other gentle obedience training. We want Clifford to be in the house as a loved member of the family. He needs to be walked on a leash and would like a securely fenced yard to run and play. Clifford is healthy. He is neutered, fully vaccinated (DAPPvL2, Bordatella, rabies), and microchipped. Clifford has been treated for heartworms and they are now dead. He is on monthly heartworm and flea prevention. Clifford's adoption fee includes the cost of ground transport to Kent, Arlington, or Bellingham WA. Clifford is being fostered in Texas and cannot be transported until after he is adopted. Please send an email to 2manydogstx@gmail.com if you are interested in adopting this wonderful boy. Story
I'm Narang, a 6-year-old Jindo Chow mix with a heart full of love. I was rescued just in time from a shelter in Iksan Si where I was sadly facing euthanasia. I adore people so much that I might bark a bit when I first meet someone new, but it's just my way of saying hello. In no time, I'll be nudging you for pets and cuddles. I'm polite with other dogs; I'll say hello, but I'm not much of a rough player. If another dog barks, I might get a bit excited, so I prefer a calm atmosphere. Food, though, I don't mind sharing at all, whether it's with humans or furry friends. During walks, I might pull on the leash a bit, but I'm generally good at following your lead. I'm currently recovering from heartworm treatment, so occasional diarrhea is part of my healing process. However, I'm a good eater and prefer doing my business outside. I dream of finding a forever home where I can be the center of someone's world. If you're looking for a loving companion who craves your affection and is ready to share a lifetime of joy, I'm your girl. Let's make memories together! Adopt me, and let's start our journey of love and happiness. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLIsLTtIpe3Jzj_0ZnVvkvGDkBXoz2jVy1 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H40gvTvIdsc&list=PLIsLTtIpe3Jzj_0ZnVvkvGDkBXoz2jVy1&index=4 https://youtu.be/H40gvTvIdsc?si=RsAUfxedNW1lXidc https://youtu.be/F4ec8oStfa8?si=OjuCqoVAgFVeFy8x https://youtu.be/HsilthM_ef0?si=reHSkb851kMpBHKt

Story
Hi there- my name is BARNEY, approx. 70 lbs of thick brown fur, ample attitude, and stubbornness, and about 8-9 yrs. old. - that is what in a nutshell you would get by adopting me. AND I am a purebred chowchow. I am always into a walk or "patrolling a fenced property" here where I live (On Orcas Island, WA) to make sure I have everything under control as “supervisor”>> I am picky who I like, and girls come always first😊, as well as my love for small dogs. Besides that, I am pretty much the “lone wolf”. That does not mean that I need to be the ONLY dog in your household, but there needs to be a “Human” I click with. But there is so much more: at the beginning I will be shying off and possibly be keener to approach a woman than a man. People always do the same mistake and see me as a teddy bear that they want to hug. I do not like that. I like to take my time with you - just be a strong assertive pack leader. And just wait until I have sniffed you out enough that I come and lick your hand. Then we can build on that. I can care less for cats and basically ignore them, but I absolutely can live with cats. I do so now. Toddlers or children that are too noisy and disrespectful - NO Thank you. I think I will prefer an adult household only - with you always around. Travelling in cars: I love it. But remember you are lifting around 70lbs of character into the car. I also have sometimes "bad hair days" when I will growl at you- for really no reason. But I am aware that this will scare someone off with a faint heart- strong voice and command from your side- and we have an understanding. I am a very serious guy, but I can be funny, too -trust me. If a little bit of this entices you to get in contact with the rescue ADR.org, please email the founder at ADR@animaldefenserescue.org. The first thing that will happen is then a phone call as we want to get to know you better and we are sure you have a lot of questions. if you send this email, say already a bit about you and send some photos. I'd love that. Looking forward to getting mail from you. Woofly yours, BARNEY April 2023

Story
MEET JULIAN - a 4-5yr. old Pure Bred petite Chowchow, rescued from Apple Valley shelter, CA - and he so wants a lovely home in WA that he can call his own in 2024! ADR.org primarily rescues (one dog at a time) from high kill CA shelters. The situation and the damage that is done to these incarcerated dogs is unbelievable. JULIAN had been abandoned in Apple Valley and was barely alive when he was admitted as stray into the shelter. They did not know that he was so weak due to canine corona virus and another pneumonia, they thought he was only hungry (!). When ADR.org saved him from this shelter, he went straight to the vet where was diagnosed with beforementioned pneumonias. JULIAN immediately was put on IV with antibiotics, vitamins, and fluids. At that point he was down to 36lbs while he should have at least 47-50lbs. ADR.org is thankful that he survived. In September he was cleared by CA vet and ADR.org could put him on a trusted ground transport (https://www.startrescue.org/. (used for most of ADR.org's rescued dogs) and has been living with the founder of ADR.org on Orcas Island, WA, and other furry friends ever since. Enough time for assessment, socialization with other dogs. JULIAN is pure bred Chow Chow but smaller in size than other chows that ADR.org also has on Orcas Island (e.g., posted BUBBA, and ZITO). JULIAN is under 5 years old, weights now 48lbs. shows a “typical chow personality: he wants HIS Human with a calm but strong pack leader mentality. JULIAN can be feisty and playful at times- so we would not recommend a home with children under 12years – All dogs adopted through ADR.org are altered, microchipped, fully vaccinated (Rabies, Distemper/parvo, Leptospirosis, Bordetella, Furthermore, you will have their shelter record and a full bloodwork report and other documentation from the vet clinic. From observation and assessment, ADR.org would recommend a structured, and calm home with not too many people coming and going; a home where people cherish him, love to go on hikes on the weekend and during the week intend to go on multiple walks with him. He walks nicely with the right harness. A solid fenced in backyard would be a nice PLUS as he loves to run and “patrol” his one acre here on Orcas Island). JULIAN also likes things structured, likes his routine. His compatibility with cats is guarded and would need an experienced owner around in that case. ADR.org has cat evaluated him and I am happy to share that video with you. He would love a girlfriend, but would accept with a non-boisterous, too energetic male dog. If you are interested in hearing more about JULIAN, contact me, the founder of ADR.org by emailing me to ADR@animaldefenserescue.org and tell me something about you and why you think you want to give JULIAN a home that I so wish for him. There are more videos that can be shared with you as well. He so deserves his own home! Share a bit about yourself in email, add some photos and we will have a phone call then to discuss more and get to know each other better. WOOFLY, JULIAN and ADR.org

Story
Please meet ARCHIE! who could resist this face? While ADR.org usually rescues from high Kill Shelters in CA, this fellow caught ADR.org's eye and heart. ARCHIE came to ADR.org through a cooperation with the Humane Society in Bend, OR. ARCHIE’s prior owner was admitted to the hospital sometime in December and unfortunately died in hospital care. First the neighbors were feeding ARCHIE while he was mostly outside alone- missing his owner. As this was not a sustainable situation and ARCHIE was not doing well, the decision was to bring him to the local shelter- as there was no further plan. ARCHIE is an 8 yr. old Pure-Bred cream-colored Chow, brings about 60lbs to the scale. He is neutered, microchipped, and up to date with vaccinations. ARCHIE needs to have easy access to a well-secured garden/yard. He knows the purpose of a DOGGY DOOR. He had bloodwork and urinalysis done while with ADER.org which came back with no vet concerns. He is alert with other dogs, not reactive but selective. ADR.org thinks that having him as only dog might be the easiest on ARCHIE. We do not know how he is with cats. ARCHIE was shaved down at the shelter as he was so matted, and his fluffy fur has been growing back wonderfully. ARCHIE is a stoic fellow that LOVES to walk and get his sniffs outside in the forest, and he takes his time. He rarely barks but can get very alert when he thinks that there is “danger.” Having a caring and dedicated home for the rest of his life, a comfortable dog bed and continued good nutrition would make this fellow happy. He is crate trained and rests and waits there patiently. He lives for his walks and food (best time ever for him - he told me). ARCHIE is a delightful corky fellow and ADR.org is looking for a home that pampers him, has calm energy, and tends to his needs. If you would like to hear and see more of him (photos/videos), please contact the founder by sending an email to: ADR@animaldefenserescue.org and tell us a bit about yourself and why you would love to meet/adopt ARCHIE. Please add some photos of your home, and yard or anything else you would love to share. ADR.org will send you an application once you have reached out. ADR.org cannot wait to see him in a good and fitting home! WOOFLY, ARCHIE

Story
Meet Miss LULU! a spunky, determined senior lady that will conquer someone's heart! LULU came to a high Kill shelter in Riverside County, CA some months ago. She was found stray and was possibly kept outside tethered or on a chain. Her social skills were logically limited the way she had to live. So, we cannot blame her for that. While she is friendly with people, she is selective with dogs, and it will take a savvy person to navigate through progress that she has made and will continue to make. But given that she is a senior, and her former life was cruel to her, ADR.org would recommend a home where she is the only dog - just to take the stress out. MISS LULU is spayed, microchipped and up to date with vaccination and was fully vetted with full bloodwork. She is an excellent walker, with no pull - unless of course she sees a squirrel (but which dog would not like to chase a critter like this). She loves her walks, and on Orcas Island ADR.org can offer LULU enough green space. Possibly you have a well fenced yard and are most of the time at home. LULU is crate trained and has no problem going in or spending "time-Out" time there and in the night - if needed. She is a good eater, possibly with lesser hearing and would really look forward to more golden years- just in a different set up than in her former life. If you think you would like to offer this lady a home, please send an email to: ADR@animaldefenserescue.org and tell us a bit about yourself. MISS LULU is looking forward to hearing from you! WOOF
