Story
Allow us to introduce you to the remarkable Nicholas, a truly special canine. When he first arrived, alongside his companion “Grand Duchess” Anastasia (who found a loving home with a volunteer adoption pic coming soon), Nicholas was timid, non trusting, showing signs of past hardship. Yet, with patience and care, he has undergone a transformation. From his initial fear to now seeking comfort through hugs and belly rubs, Nicholas has blossomed. He's developed an incredible bond with his trusted humans, seeking reassurance and guidance in unfamiliar situations. We truly believe he has never been on a leash prior to us, and his coat was so dirty. Thanks to Woof Gang Bakery & Grooming Concord for taking the extra care this boy needed to get all cleaned up! Nicholas, while generally amiable with other dogs, thrives in a calm environment, making him an ideal companion for a household with another possible laid-back furry friend. A fenced yard is a MUST for him, and a household without young children is needed, he is too nervous to be around children. He'll benefit greatly from an experienced owner who can continue to nurture his confidence, interpret his subtle cues, and help him become the best version of himself. A mix of Chow and possibly Shiba Inu. Regular grooming will be necessary to maintain his coat. He revels in love, offering hugs and he LOVES to explore the yard. All he requires is someone who truly understands him and is willing to invest the time and patience needed to nurture his confidence. We estimate his age to be around four years old.

RCHS does not conduct DNA tests on dogs who enter our facility therefore we are unable to guarantee breed or breed mix. Information provided by shelter staff, volunteers, and veterinarians is used to give a best estimate as to a dog’s breed make up. We do our best to inform adopters about the potential breeds for each dog.We are a dog only facility so we do not know how most of our dogs will be with cats. Even if a dog is surrendered to us and said to be good with cats there is no way to be sure the dog will be good with your cats. We do have a 7 day foster-to-adopt program so that you can see how the dog interacts with your cats before adoption.

Good with kids, Good with dogs, Good with cats, House-trained,
Story
Adopted through petland in FL and moved back to home state OH. Unfortunately, we were unaware housing market is terrible and after 6 months of finally finding a rental landlord will not allow dogs. He is absolutely 💯 sweetheart he loves to play he pounces and very vocal, He Loves his backsctatches and wrestling. His tail gets going when hes excited to meet new people and gets jealous if he doesnt get to play when he sees neighborhood kids or sees a squirrel. He does great with other dogs we have play dates with 2 families with dogs both genders and did great ! Our cats don't like him because he sniffs or wants to groom them. He does tend to nap a lot and he Loves people food due to my fault of always giving him food and pup cups at dunkin. with portions of water confined into one area he has been potty and kennel trained and has done amazing 👏 he does not free roam outside aside fenced. he will wine and let you know when he wants out. He's charming playful and very kind asking 3k obo

Story
*hair blowing in the wind (even though she's indoors)* *unexplained sparkles in the air* *faint heavenly music* Yes, she is me. Chloe. Now that you are blinded by my beauty, let me explain why I am the absolute best girl on the inside too and so deserving of your (and everyone's) undivided adoration. I'm loyal, smart as a whip, and FUN, just to name a few. Unfortunately, I didn't come from the most glamorous beginnings. I was an outdoor doggy with not much interaction from birth and my family also left me behind when they moved. Thus, I wasn't really brought up interacting with you humans or being touched/handled. I've had my quirks while adjusting to being a family dog and will definitely need someone patient and understanding with me. (If you get too touchy right away, I don't like that and will try to protect myself.) However, if you are slow and gain my trust I will HANG on your every move. I have adjusted very quickly in the past with proper introductions to people. Even still, I would probably do best in a home without young children. I'm a lady after all and need time to sniff you out before you get grabby. I am an active girl and love to feel the wind in my hair outdoors too. I run with the speed of light and have a prey drive to sniff out bugs, lizards and more. I also love to play tug of war and fetch with my foster mommy inside. I bounce, bounce, bounce all the time! I am great on leash so walks and hikes would be great for me. Getting my energy out will help me focus on training too. I am very smart and learn quickly, but tend to lose interest if I'm still chock full of go, go, go!! With all of this perfection, all of your pet needs should be fulfilled, right? RIGHT? I hope so because I would do great as an only pet in the home. I have been able to co-exist with dogs at the rescue but I am a bit of a diva in my foster home. I have a domineering personality sometimes and will even mark like a male when I come across another dog's scent in my house. How dare they??? Existing? HERE? (She is otherwise house trained.) Considering that you and I know each other a little better now, you may pet me. Yes, I am very soft, I know. Please keep in mind that I am a Chow/shepherd mix and have hair that will require brushing, maybe even the occasional spa treatment, Swedish massage, 24k gold facials...yeahhhhhhhhhh.... Sorry! I forgot you were here. In all seriousness, once I trust you, I will allow you to brush me out without much fuss. It doesn't need to be daily but I am a rough and tumble kinda gal and can use help keeping my locks flowing and free. I also shed so if I seem to be losing my girlish figure, it's probably just extra hair that needs to be brushed off. I hope you have a strong vacuum. ;) I could go on for days about myself, but I'll stop here. Don't wanna overwhelm you. If you think you are up for the challenge of a total spitfire like me, please feel free to send in an application and foster mommy can tell you more about all of the grandeur that is...CHLOE. Good with kids, Good with dogs,
Story
Clifford. is located in TEXAS. There are not enough homes for all the unwanted dogs down there, so he is willing to relocate for a good, loving, forever home. Clifford was dumped on the side of a rural road with a litter of puppies. They were rescued by good Samaritans. Clifford is a super wonderful dog. He is very sweet, gentle, and good-natured. He is super sensitive and scared of mean voices, rough treatment, and dogs that are mean to him. He needs to be treated gently so he will trust you. Once he trusts you or another dog, he is very playful and loves playing. He especially loves puppies and gentle children. Clifford has shown an interest in cats, so he may not be good with them. Clifford is mostly Chow. He weighs around 60 pounds and we estimate he may be around 2 years old. Clifford is crate-trained, knows how to sit, and walks well on a leash. He rides well in a vehicle but is a bit nervous about getting inside the vehicle. Clifford is fabulous with nice children. He is shy with new people (especially men) and takes some time to trust. We are sure he was abused by whoever had him before. Clifford does need work with housetraining (sure he has never been in a house before) and could probably use other gentle obedience training. We want Clifford to be in the house as a loved member of the family. He needs to be walked on a leash and would like a securely fenced yard to run and play. Clifford is healthy. He is neutered, fully vaccinated (DAPPvL2, Bordatella, rabies), and microchipped. Clifford has been treated for heartworms and they are now dead. He is on monthly heartworm and flea prevention. Clifford's adoption fee includes the cost of ground transport to Columbus or Cincinnati Ohio. Clifford is being fostered in Texas and cannot be transported until after he is adopted.
