Story
Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home.  Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR.  We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone.  Our job is to find those someone's.  Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog.  They come to us because they want to give a dog a home.  We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture.  While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face.  Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home.  We want to create furever families.  Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today.  We'll update as more information is known.  Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days?  If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application.  You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side.  You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.  Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes?  Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email.  We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team   Date into Rescue: 1/14/2024 Reason for being in rescue: owner release/health of owner Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? None noted except she is very overweight and needs to lose some pounds. At one point Precious was on apoquel but has not been for several years Weight: 48 lb but needs to be 32 lbs Height: 16 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? No What kind of home would be best for me? Precious, like her BFF Ginger, is a middle-aged girl who's looking to spend the best years of her life in a home that can provide them a calm and caring home They need owners that will be home most if not all day and will be attentive to them always. Both Precious and Ginger are taking a while to adjust to living here at CPR because they are used to living in a house and being pampered and loved on constantly. They are looking for a forever family that can once again, provide them with that life that they are accustomed to. They need a calm home. They will do well in either an apartment or house. What is my personality like? Precious and Ginger have warmed up considerably since first coming to us, but both are still apprehensive about their surroundings. Their personalities will shine once they are safely lodged in their new forever home. Precious takes her cues from Ginger, who the more confident of the two girls. Neither girl will rush to meet you or jump on you. Both love any affection being shown to them. How do I act when I first meet new people? Precious is far more wary than Ginger. She loves pets and attention paid to her, but she takes longer to warm up to people than Ginger. The best way to have Precious warm up to you is to first have Ginger warm up to you. Once you take a few minutes sitting on the floor Ginger will end up in your lap. When Precious sees you petting Ginger, she too will come in for pets. Precious loves chin scratches and scratches between her hips will freeze her in place with a big smile on her face. Other tips and tidbits: Our vet estimates Precious' birthday to be 2/16/2016. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs.  If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.  Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.   To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home.   You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc.  Others here may be a better fit for you.  It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description.  Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a  dog not in our listings yet.  We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR. March 27, 2024, 12:43 pm

She is also on gabapentin but gabapentin at her dose must be purchased from your vet.  She also has a heart murmur (1/6) that does not require any meds.  She is currently on cytopoint which runs roughly $100 per month. We think that with a dedicated owner who will keep her on specific diet and give her regular baths, that this can be discontinued. She was not on it before she came to us.   Weight: 19 lb but needs to gain up to about 22 lbs Height: 14 in at the shoulder Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $1 - I am priceless Fence needed? Ginger is wary but loves pets and any attention paid to her as it's what she had come to expect from her former home. Sit down on the floor, give her a minute or five, and let come to you. That is the best way to approach Ginger. When you do you will see her come in for pets. Then she will climb into your lap for ear rubs and more pets. She may even provide a few wet kisses if you are lucky. When you stop petting Ginger she'll shoot you a side eye or a fallen glare as if to say, "I have not given you permission to stop petting me." She thinks she's royalty and who's to tell her that she's not?  Nothing stops her butt wiggle!   Other tips and tidbits: Our vet estimates Ginger's birthday to be 3/31/2014. House trained? Story
Memorial: In Loving Memory- June 2023. Putt, Putt. This sweet boy finally lost his battle to live a quality life due to some major health issues.  He was a 16 plus-year-old cocker boy and a lifetime haven dog due to heart health issues and then some other medical needs came up that made his life miserable. We did everything we could to help him live but couldn't save him as he got weak and lost his battle to live. In his memory we ask that you consider making a donation to help care for the other rescue dogs still available and needing homes. Thank you for your kindness! Putnam, or Putt, Putt as we called him was a small, blonde 16 plus year old plus cocker boy. One New Year's Day, He was lost and wondering the roads until he was picked up as a stray in West Virginia by Animal Control. Because no owner showed up to claim him and he was older, the shelter asked for rescue help to get him updated on vet care and find him a good home. He was heartworm negative, kind of shy and just a real sweet guy that was pretty well house trained. He wasn't able to find his forever home because heart health issues came up that would not get better. He would have been a wonderful companion for someone to adopt and love but his heart issues continued to get worse and now there was nothing we could do to make it any better except keep him on meds. Recently, some other medical issues came up and we did what we could to save him but it wasn't meant to be and we had to say goodbye. Putt Put would greatly appreciate it if you could donate to this rescue to help with the care of all the cocker dogs now up for adoption or those in lifetime haven care like Honey. Please send your donation to CCR, P.O. Box 1050, Kannapolis, NC 28081 or by PayPal to larrydonnacarp@aol.com. Thank you for your kindness to help our rescue dogs. Donations Needed and Appreciated: This sweet cocker boy has come to rescue and needs a major dental with teeth removal. He is a senior, so he will need fluids and antibiotics. Please help CCR to pay his vet bills, we need to raise $300 to $400 dollars for his vet care.

Please, No Phone Calls. If you are interested in adopting this cute Cocker Spaniel boy, please fill out an application by going to charlottecockerrescue.org to download and save our application. Email your filled out application back to us to be approved. We will review it and return calls. Meet Remy, a 4 1/2-year-old black n white, male Cocker Spaniel. He is friendly, playful and would love quality time with you. He came to rescue scared of men but would quickly warm up to women. He is an owner give up from a single mom with two children who had to give him up after she moved into her mom's house and was only allowed to keep him outside. They had adopted him as a pup. He can be with other young playful female dogs who would love to play as long as they don't try to dominate him. He doesn't seem to do well with male dogs in a household environment. Only minimal vetting had ever been done and no HW or flea/tick prevention was given. Bloodwork was done with many questionable levels and HW tested as positive. After his neuter/dental procedure was done it is normal procedure to re-do bloodwork before HW treatment. He tested this time as heart worm negative. He was adopted out shortly after, but it didn't work out, not his fault. When he came back to us, we re-tested and it once again showed heart worm positive, so we did treatment for him with a good recovery. He does have a slight heart murmur and is on medicine for dry eye. He would love to be your new best friend. He will be a good house dog and would love to be placed into a home with a young, playful, dog social female cocker who will not dominate him. A secure fenced yard is a must. He is a good boy and might just steal your heart. His adoption fee is $400.

Story
Serious Inquires Only - This is a Courtesy Posting - Please send an email as shown below/no phone calls. We are not responsible for the vetting needs of this dog. We are trying to help this owner find the perfect new forever home for this very young Cocker Spaniel boy. Owner will be very selective on adopting him out to a new home. You must have vet references to be approved and absolutely no other dogs; he must always be your only dog. He doesn't do well with others in a home environment. Details will be discussed as owner approves applicants. Meet Finn, an 8-month-old, neutered, black n tan Cocker Spaniel boy. He is looking for a new home where he can be the only dog. This very handsome boy has lost his home twice from dog attacks. With current home he has food aggression and continuously has humped and penetrated an older male dog. Owner says he absolutely must be your only dog. He is current on vet care, loves to play and enjoys spending quality time sitting on your lap. More details will be discussed later after owner approves applicants. Serious Inquires Only; Please send an email to larrydonnacarp@aol.com. We will contact owner. You must provide vet reference contact information for approval to adopt.
