Story
Dakota’s foster mom says — Dakota is a chocolate, fluffy, super-soft cocker spaniel mix who is around 5 years old. He is neutered and up to date on shots. He is a happy boy who enjoys walks, cuddling, and playing with his favorite squeakey toy, which we call his baby. He is getting better with potty training, but still needs some continued work to ensure there are no accidents in the home. Dakota will require a diet of wet food mixed with some dry, and he weighs around 30 pounds. We have been working with a trainer to help him with his attachment issues. He will require a companion who is home often because he gets anxious when left alone. He does not do well in a crate, so I just limit him to my living room and kitchen area while I am gone, and he has done well. I would also not recommend him around younger children, and he should be the only dog in the home. A little more information from Dakota’s trainer — This sweet little 5-year-old bundle of chocolate fluff had a tough start. Lots and lots of time in a kennel meant he gnawed his little teeth down trying to get out. Since being with his foster we’ve not put him back in a kennel. Potty training has gone well, but he does have an occasional accident. His new home should be with an experienced dog owner, as he tends to get clingy. An owner who is either retired or works from home would be ideal. His insecurities mean that he doesn’t do well with other dogs. He has done well with groups up to 20 people and with children as young as toddlers. Daily walks will only continue to increase his confidence. He is an excellent walker and car rider. Dakota deserves a life of love, walks, cuddles, and puppy treats!
