Story
Oliver is a smooth collie mix who was born on January 4, 2018 into a litter of 10. His father was a short-haired merle collie and his mother was a collie-pharaoh hound mix. He was originally adopted at the too young age of 4 weeks and has grown into a gorgeous 90+ pound bundle of energy. At 18 months, he is still very much a puppy.....a BIG puppy....with all of a puppy's affection, playfulness as well as unbridled energy. While Ollie loves to cuddle, play fetch, tug of war and run around with other big dogs, sometimes, he can be somewhat grabby and quite protective. Ollie was neutered at 6 months and is fully house-trained. He is very, very smart and knows basic commands from working with two trainers. Oliver needs a very active and engaging home life. He requires a yard with lots of space so he can run around to burn off his still-puppy energy. He could probably be trained to be a great agility or working farm dog. Oliver absolutely requires a physically and mentally strong person who is willing to devote the necessary time to continue his training. This individual needs to be an exceptionally savvy dog person who is motivated to work with Ollie to make him into a great companion. Because of Oliver's size and energy, he will not be adopted into a household with cats, small dogs or children under the age of 16.

Story
COURTESY POSTING: COURTESY POSTING: Roscoe is in foster care for Santa Barbara County Animal Services. Please contact k9krma@gmail.com if you are interested in him. Roscoe is a really delightful young dog, approx. 1 year old. He was found as a stray in December and adopted by his finder, but the other dog in the household didn't like his youthful energy (of which there is an abundance) so he returned him to the shelter recently. Roscoe is now in foster care with 8 other dogs and a cat and doing great! Roscoe is high energy, very playful, and full of fun; he's perfect for an active household and would make a great hiking or running companion. He's also perfect for a family with another active playful dog, as he is super social! He loves EVERYBODY, including kids, but is too rowdy for really small ones at the moment. Roscoe is housebroken, crate trained, and good on leash. He's starting to learn sit, come, etc. He does have one challenge: he is congenitally deaf. It will make training him a bit more complicated, since he will need visual commands (hand signals), but dogs actually do better with visual training, and he is smart and eager to please. And he's always nearby, so not being able to hear at home doesn't affect your ability to find him. In fact, you wouldn't know he was deaf except he doesn't wake up when his foster mom comes home and he's asleep!

Story
This sweet girl was part of a litter of puppies rescued after a fire in a homeless encampment and brought to Santa Barbara to find a new life. They were sweet and friendly from the start! Brianne looks the most like a border collie; her other sibs look more like Shepherds, with some Lab thrown in. They are all smart and friendly! Brianne was adopted but her family cannot keep her so we are looking to find her a new home. She will make a great companion to an active household!

Story
COURTESY POST: Meet Moss. He is a 1.5 year old neutered cattle dog/blue heeler with a docked tail. He has had a bit of a ride in his life -- he was dumped in a rural area, then adopted by his finder, then returned for being more than the adopter (who has some special needs) could handle, then placed, and is now in need of a home again. Amazingly, Moss has remained friendly and happy throughout all of this! Moss is housebroken and crate trained. He walks very well on a leash and is gentle and kind to every person he meets. He is deaf, but can be off leash to play fetch out on the grass pitch or walk / play on the beach as he sticks with his pack. His deafness is actually a nice quality. Anyone who knows this breed, knows you cannot stand up without the K9 jumping to alert and following you to get that pencil and sit back down again! In this case if he is sleeping he isn't disturbed by the goings on around him. He is also a cuddly dog. He sighs contentedly as he drifts off, head or paw on your leg - truly adorable. HE is adorable. He is the perfect size, a well proportioned agile 35 lbs with short hair. He does fine in the car, but won't jump in on his own which is funny because you should see him leap to catch a ball - gazelle like. These dogs are not for everyone. They need consistent and patient adults. Moss is still mouthy like a puppy, and his deafness makes his social cues awkward for some dogs, although Moss is always okay with that! He would love to have a family that will play with him, exercise him hard daily, and spoil him. He is good with cats and though he is good with other dogs, it might be easier if he were the only dog for now, or only with another dog that REALLY loves to play, because Moss can be a pest with his playfulness (the main reason he has been rehomed; he just won't leave his older dog sibling alone in his eagerness for fun!). In addition to his deafness, Moss has a mild heart murmur, but nothing that the vet is worried about. Overall he is very healthy and fit and ready for a new life of fun!
