Story
Well, now, folks, let me spin you a yarn about a pup named Dexter. Sit back and take a sip of your sweet tea as I tell you the tale of this here Coonhound fella. I reckon Dexter's story starts back in the woods, where he was found as a sprout of just 8 weeks old, living wild and free with his kinfolk. Born into the great outdoors, he's got a hankering for adventure and a nose that could sniff out a possum in the dark. Now, Dexter ain't your ordinary hound dog. No sir, he's got a heart as big as the Mississippi and a love for critters of all kinds. Cats, dogs, kids – you name it, he's wagging his tail at 'em. But don't let that fool you, he's got a wild streak too, yearning for a romp in a large, fenced-in backyard where he can stretch his legs and chase the wind. Housetrained as can be, Dexter's got manners fit for a Southern gentleman. He'll charm his way into your heart with those big ol' puppy eyes and a wag that could wag the clouds right out of the sky. Now, if you take a gander at his photos, you'll see a DNA test, a testament to his mixed heritage. But let me tell ya, that don't define him none. He's mostly hound mixes, and that means one thing – he's happiest when he's outside, soaking up the sun and chasing those scents on the breeze. So, if you're an active family looking for a companion to join you on your adventures, look no further than Dexter. He's ready to trade in the woods for a home filled with love, laughter, and maybe a few treats thrown in for good measure. Dexter currently lives in a foster home, so if you are interested in meeting and adopting him, please email Ethan at eclaridge@angelsofassisi.org to set up a meet-and-greet.

Story
Meet Richards, aka Didi!   Didi is a little hound dog mix from Mississippi.  She was the runt of Rosie's litter of 12 pups and had to be bottle-fed to make sure she could get enough to eat.  According to her rescuer, Didi was "so unbelievably tiny" and it is a mirace she survived...but thankfully Didi did, and she is now healthy, growing and ready for her forever home!    Didi is a curious, playful, quick learner!  First night with her new foster, she slept through the night in her crate. NOVA is a whole new world for Didi.  On walks, she is soaking in everything.  She stops and sits to observe all the sites and sounds. She espcially is intrigued when she finds kids playing in the nieghborhood.  Her foster family are empty nesters with no other pets. She is working on potty training and making great progress.   She is smart and loves to solve treat puzzles. After a walk and a puzzle, she snuggles up on a bean bag bed for a nap.  Richards, Didi is ready to meet you!  Mandatory in person transfer date: May 4h at the Petsmart in Tysons Corner between 11:00 AM-12:00 PM. All adopters must attend in order to finalize the adoption. ##2016631##

Story
Moose: Hi everyone! I’m Moose and I’m a coonhound! My foster mum calls me sweetheart though. My 1st birthday is coming up so I’m hoping to find my forever family on here, it’ll be the best birthday ever. I hope you get to meet me cuz I’m so excited to see people. Foster mum: Hi, meet my sweet Moose. He is truly a sweetheart with never ending energy. Are you active and would love a pup to play with outside and hang out with? Look no further. Moose will bring exercise to your life for sure. He is working on training as he didn’t have the attention he needed previously to understand what is required of him. Coonhounds are nose strong and can act like a rebellious child, however we believe with the right mom or dad (and home) he will flourish. He just needs a chance with setting boundaries and possibly a friend who matches his energy. Patience and love is key to his success! He is an indoor only pup but he sure would love a fenced in yard to run around with you in. I am willing to help him acclimate into his new home so reach out if you’d like to meet him!
