Story
Meet our 8-9 pound Dachshund mixes, Daria and Jasper. They are 5 months old and will mature to around 10 pounds. Both pups enjoy being around people and other dogs, but neither likes cats. Daria wears a short coat of tan/red and white while Jasper wears a short tan and white coat. They love to play with toys and run around in the grass. Either of these pups will make a great addition to your family! (ME, 2/21/24)     **It is rare that we know with certainty the ages or mixes that make up our dogs, but we do our best to be as accurate as possible based upon our experience. ** Adoption: $395 which covers quarantine, shots, worming, medical records, spaying/neutering, microchip and an Alabama State Health Certificate.   Transport, if needed  $160   We consider the transport to be of great importance and, as such, take particular care of the dogs during the trip . We make every effort to arrive with healthy and minimally stressed dogs.  April 22, 2024, 6:43 pm

Story
Frankie is a delightful 1 year old Dachshund mix. Weighing 12 pounds of pure love, he wears a short, brown coat that’s quite fetching. Frankie is good with other dogs and we think he would be good with children, but, due to his size, not small children. But this boy is definitely not a fan of cats. Frankie is an active boy who enjoys walking on a leash and playing with his toys.  To all this, add how adorable he is, and you won’t be able to pass up the chance to adopt him!(ME, 11/10/23) **It is rare that we know with certainty the ages or mixes that make up our dogs, but we do our best to be as accurate as possible based upon our experience. ** Adoption/Transport Fee:  $250.00  April 22, 2024, 6:43 pm

Story
Meet Snickers! Snickers (black/brown 12 years young female) is heart worm positive with the some of the disadvantages of this ailment. Snickers will continue her slow-kill heart worm treatment provided by the rescue once adopted. But, no worries her heart worm status does NOT stop this spry, happy, lovable, lap warmer, adorable (large staring dark round eyes), very long legs, smart as a whip and playful youngster girl. She was caught with Skipper December 2022; with them being in advanced age, they had to be someone’s babies, especially to be in relatively good shape mentally as well as physically. They are great buddies, constantly playing. So, it would be advantageous if they could be adopted together. But, it isn’t required! A nice sized fenced yard would be great, also.   Only, the most perfect of home will she grace! If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at http://www.dixiegirldogrescue.org/adopt-form Most of our are pets are fostered in Southern foster homes and are posted for adoption once they are completely vetted and ready to travel. Our pets are adoptable in Alabama and New England States. Our adoption fee includes transport fee, spay/neuter, current vaccinations, deworming, heart worm test for animals over 7 months old, all necessary vetting and an interstate health certificate. Once an application is received, our team is happy to answer all of your questions and send additional pictures and videos. Thank you for thinking rescue!

Story
Handy Manny is a Chiweenie that is from a really bad hoarding situation. Handy Manny is 6 years old but acts like a puppy. The previous owner locked Handy Manny in a small bathroom so for 6 years he had no contact with any people or other dogs. He came out of that bathroom as sweet as can be! Handy Manny loves people and other dogs and puppies. Story
Blacky is a sweet shy boy at first. He is playful and warms up once he knows you are someone he can trust. Would make a great running buddy. He comes from the same horrible hoarder situation and had to fight for food so he is still reactive to feeding time. We think that he would do best as an only pet or with a female doggie home. We are still learning his personality and since he is recently neutered we know it will change with time. 2nd Chance Animal Sanctuary is a 501(c)3 Non-profit rescue organization. Story
Grey is a very friendly playful young man. Grey would make a wonderful running buddy or agility or for barn hunt competions. This guy loves to run. He was part of the hoarder situation that most of our dogs come from. At this time we would recommend an only dog home due to his past. This might change as he continues to mellow but would have to be an opposite sex dog with a proper introduction. 2nd Chance Animal Sanctuary is a 501(c)3 Non-profit rescue organization.
