Story
Gunner is a mini long haired red and white piebald dachshund boy who is approximately 4 years old. We were told he came to the rescue when his senior owner died, but we believe he may be a retired stud dog. He gets along well with other dogs as he lived with 5 other dachshunds. He doesn't mind being held, handled and bathed and is a very sweet and gentle. Our hope is to find a family who can let this little dog be part of their pack and give him the love and care he deserves! Our rescue organization adopts within the following states: Kentucky, Ohio, Tennessee, Illinois, Indiana and Missouri. A fully fenced yard is required to be considered for adoption (no underground fencing). All our dogs are spayed/neutered and have been fully vetted and are current on vaccinations. Story
Greta is a red and white piebald smooth haired girl. We got her as a surrender when her elderly owner died. We do believe she was a breeder and has had puppies in the past. She is a sweet, friendly dog who loves people and attention. She will be a great addition to any family. She is a bit of an alpha, so she would do best as an only dog or with a more submissive dog. She was is good with other dogs as she was living with 5 other dachshunds, but she is more of an alpha personality. Our rescue organization adopts within the following states: Kentucky, Ohio, Tennessee, Illinois, Indiana and Missouri. A fully fenced yard is required to be considered for adoption (no underground fencing). Story
Bandit is a mini tricolor smooth coat dachshund with ticking. He came to the rescue with five other mini dachshunds after his elderly owner died. He is a really sweet boy but tends to be a little skittish. He needs a person with patience and time to gain his trust and would do well with another dog to follow. Our rescue organization adopts within the following states: Kentucky, Ohio, Tennessee, Illinois, Indiana and Missouri. A fully fenced yard is required to be considered for adoption (no underground fencing). Story
Biscuit is an 8 year old male, long haired dachshund. He is a celebrity graduate of our Paws Behind Bars prison dog training program where he captured the hearts of so many. He was rumored to be the Assistant Warden as he marched around like he owned the place. Despite his short stature, he was respected by all. Biscuit is ready to "get out of jail", retire his warden status and live out his days in a comfortable home. A quiet, yet somewhat active adult home will be best. He is, after all, a dachshund. He's got the attitude. He gets along well with other dogs if they dont crowd his space. He does not get along with cats and he doesnt have the tolerance for children. An old episode made him leary of being picked up and snuggled. He is in excellent health but he has his special needs. He must be on a fish based kibble and Apoquel during high allergy peaks helps with this skin. For all you dachshund lovers, this guy is quite the character. If interested in adopting, our process begins with the submission of OUR online application which can be found at www.adoptmebluegrasspetrescue.com. Additional adoption FAQ's can be found there also. Meets will be set with approved applicants only.
