Story
Phoenix! This lovely, squishy medium sized (maybe 55 lbs) girl is around 2-3 years old. She was originally adopted from us as a puppy but returned for not getting along with the other pets in the home. Phoenix should be an only pet in her new home, but is a lovely girl willing to give you all her love. She would benefit from a diet and losing a little weight. She is a great girl who is fully housebroken (but may have a few small accidents as she gets acclimated) and crate trained. She would be fine with older, school aged children. Take a look at this beauty! With his tall lean body and regal stare, he will draw attention wherever you go. Lava is a very mild mannered Doberman-mix who loves spending time with his people and will crumple into your body for hugs during walks. He has enjoyed time in our play yards and gets along well with other calm dogs like himself. Lava would love to meet your family and any other resident dogs before you welcome him home. Lava is enjoying spending time in a foster home, but we can set up an appointment to meet him. He can't wait for his forever family to adopt him. Please contact bshea@bvspca.org or stop in the shelter to schedule a meet. *Lava qualifies for the Sponsored by Simba Program: Pets for Veterans: no adoption fee for any military veteran adopting a pet 1yo+.Brandywine Valley SPCA1212 Phoenixville PikeWest Chester, PA 19380PA Kennel License #01647

Story
Hi! I’m Sadie, though some of you might remember me as Athena. My foster mom decided to rename me because my foster sisters name is Nina… Athena and Nina was just too much, but that’s ok because I really like my new name. I came from Louisiana with something called heartworms? I don’t really know what it is, but I was not a fan. Luckily, I am all done with the yucky medicine and now have more freedom to show my awesome personality. I love treats and like to learn new things. My favorite spot is on the couch next to my foster family for snuggles. Oh! I almost forgot; I am a tripod! I lost one of my back legs before I made the long trek to PA but don’t worry, it doesn’t slow me down one bit! Sadie is a 3-year-old, natural ear female originally from Louisiana. She came to DPRPA heartworm positive and missing a back leg. She has undergone her full heartworm treatment and while we do not know the cause of her leg amputation, it doesn’t slow her down at all. Sadie loves to run and play and listens well and is eager to please. She is cautious around new people and dogs so proper introductions are a must. This young lady needs a home to help boost her confidence with love, patience, and of course training. Sadie is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on all her vaccines. If you are interested in this beautiful girl, please apply to Doberman Pinscher Rescue of Pa. She is being fostered in the Lancaster area: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DPR/Dog Doberman Pinscher Rescue of PA Inc 9203 Hickory Hill Rd Oxford, PA 19363 Kennel License #14649

Story
My name is Lacy, formerly known as Khaleesi. I'm a southern girl, originally from Louisiana. When my brother and I managed to get out of the yard and take a nice stroll around the neighborhood, we got picked up by animal control. Our owner retrieved us up but when we escaped from the yard again he decided that he didn't want us anymore. Both of us were found to have heartworm. When we started our treatment my brother got very sick and died, so I was left alone, sick and unwanted. The good people of DPRPA decided I was worth a second chance and brought me north. What they didn't know is that I was badly abused by that man. While I bond quickly to any female person, men scare me. I've learned that my foster dad is a good person, but there are certain situations that scare me. I guess it's PTSD and I can't get over that. I love when he pets me and he's sitting down, but when he stands I get scared thinking he's going to kick me or beat me up. I know that won't happen but I get so scared from what happened to me before. We've been calling her Lacy to try to remove any connection to her former home. Lacy is a 5 year old black/tan petite spayed girl at just over 60 lbs. She is free of her heartworms and has come through the treatment with no lasting effects. She still sports the shaved patch of fur where the shots were given but she's regained her energy and is loving life. We think she was kept outside in her prior life and she had to learn how to behave indoors, including house-training. She has done very well and is now learning how to signal that she has to go outside to do her business. She is starting to learn to walk nicely on a leash. If you want an office dog she is perfect. She is quiet, calm and will lie on her bed near you. Elsewhere in the house her crate is her sanctuary. If she feels threatened she will run to her crate. But she is learning that the crate isn't needed and she is safe. She rides well in the car, lying down and not whining or barking at anything passing by. She's very good at the vet too, but we go to an all female vet practice. She does protect her toys from her foster brother. Occasionally they will have a woofing match at one another but they have never bitten each other. Otherwise she and her foster brother get along very well. She has absolutely no aggression to humans, even her foster Dad. She lives for petting, cuddling and treats. Her favorite outing is meeting people and pets at the Farmer's Market on Saturday where she loves doing the Doberman lean with everyone, even the men. We are looking for a home for Lacy that is female only. She's been here over 4 months and is still very scared of her foster Dad in certain situations. A female only home would be much less stressful for her. Preferably it would also be an only dog home. She can be a thief, carrying shoes, socks, clothing, and various items into her crate. She never chews or tries to swallow anything, but just wants them near her. We think she has had puppies in the past and wants to cuddle these items. Preferably the backyard would be fenced but she has also learned to take care of her business outside on a leash. She is a gem waiting to find that perfect home. If you think you might qualify, fill out an application at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DPR/Dog Doberman Pinscher Rescue of Pa 9203 Hickory Hill Rd Oxford PA, 19363 PA Kennel License # 14649

Story
*Courtesy Posting* Meet Bradley, the charming 2-year-old Velcro Doberman in search of his forever home! Bradley is an affectionate companion who thrives on human company. However, he's looking for a special family where someone can be there with him most of the time, as he tends to feel anxious when left alone, sometimes leading to destructive behaviors. While Bradley has a heart of gold, he does need a patient and understanding home willing to help him manage his separation anxiety. He has the potential to befriend other dogs, but introductions at the shelter are necessary to ensure a harmonious match. Once he warms up, Bradley forms deep bonds and becomes incredibly loyal to his loved ones. Bradley is a work in progress when it comes to manners, as he tends to be a bit of a jumper, but with consistent guidance and training, he'll be a well-behaved gentleman in no time. While he's great with cats and farm animals, Bradley would feel most comfortable in a home without younger children (under 10) as their energy makes him anxious. Rest assured, Bradley is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all his vaccines, eagerly awaiting the chance to become your faithful companion. If you believe you can offer Bradley the loving and supportive home he deserves, please apply directly to the Humane Society of Yates County, Penn Yan, NY, through our dog adopter survey: https://www.yateshumane.org/dog-adopter-survey
