Story
Bingo is has been adopted and returned four times with no adoption lasting longer than three weeks. He has special behavior needs but with no aggression or bite history. Please read his profile carefully as Bingo is still waiting on his angel. No apartments will be considered. Animal Profile: Bingo is a young male blue Doberman who was picked up as a stray in Bakersfield and taken to the overcrowded shelter where he was euthanasia listed for space. The shelter estimated his age as two based on a quick exam, but in foster care upon arrival we determined he was less than one year old based on his teeth and continued growth in foster care. At the shelter, he was pretty shy and shut down, which is typical for the breed, but still friendly to people and dogs. He joined us on 11/27/22 and is a long-stay in the rescue due to his special needs. Foster Update: Bingo is a young and active boy; he loves to play with other dogs and is friendly with all people, including small children. He has lived with small children for over a year and is sweet and affectionate. He is currently being fostered with other dogs and young kids and gets along well with everyone. Bingo is inclined to some bratty behavior toward other dogs around resources in a new environment. Once he understands his pack order (and with human communication) he settles in well and can share his space and toys. He can take treats around other dogs but does eat in his crate to help with ongoing crate training. Bingo has no issues resource guarding with people; you can remove objects from his mouth without issue if needed in a situation such as he grabs a piece of food he is not supposed to have. He has been to doggy daycare playgroups with large groups of dogs of all sizes and done well with everyone. Bingo is potty trained, and walks well on leash with a confident handler. He’d be an excellent jogging, hiking or biking companion! This young and active boy is so very handsome and has a typical Doberman velcro personality. He also loves his sweater and curling up into little spaces. Bingo has not lived with cats and did not test well with cats so will need a feline free home. Bingo is also very vocal and unsettled in the crate without a training collar; he needs a super crate (provided with adoption). He may do better in a kennel run but that wouldn't be an option in inclement weather. He would not be suitable in an apartment or space with shared walls. Adopter Profile: Real talk, Bingo has been adopted and returned 4x, two of the adopters had him less than 72 hours. He has spent most of the last 15 months in the Director's house with 6 dogs and three kids under 4. He's a nice dog but he's not an easy dog. With that said, do you have the patience of a Saint? Better yet, are you a long lost relative of the actual Mother Theresa? Alternatively, are you deaf? If so you could be an ideal fit for Bingo. Problem #1) Bingo has major FOMO. He will let you know by barking his head off. He is e-collar trained but many folks aren't into using a bark collar (unless you like to get sleep or not listen to barking all day). Bingo is fine with a bark collar on, but if you don't put it on or forget to charge it, he will quickly remind you the second you don't include him in something he thinks he should be included in. He may eventually be OK to be left outside the crate, but one of his three adoption returns stated that when left alone he ate the carpet. He doesn't really have separation anxiety because he's actually very good in the crate when he knows it's non-optional. It's the options, for him, that are troubling. Problem #2) Also, another conundrum: Bingo LOVES to play with other dogs and is actually very social. But he's a bit of a punk and will posture over toys and even thresholds (doorways). He would benefit (for his own psyche) from a pack, but is a lot to manage. Luckily he has easy tells; if you know dogs you can see when he starts being a stinker and quickly interrupt it. He's never caused harm to another dog. But he's not a Kumbaya dog. His best match will be a very confident male or female of any size. Second best match would be a super beta dog. Problem #3) Finally, Bingo loves attention and to snuggle and all the Doberman things. But the more you do of this the worse problems 1 and 2 get. So, there's that. His best attribute? He has zero human aggression. Even when wrestling him like a bear for a bath (which he hates), he has never offered to bite. So at least he has that going for him. We know his unicorn is out there. * fingers crossed * Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550 which includes spay/neuter (neutered Dec 2022), core vaccinations per AVMA standards, heartworm test if applicable, microchip with registration, and health certificate. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. All adoption fees go toward the care of all dogs in our rescue.  Apply Online: www.DogGoneSeattle.org/adoption-application Animal History: This dog was found as a stray and rescued from euthanasia at Bakersfield Shelter in California, arriving to foster care in Seattle on 11/27. This dog will be available for adoption in the greater Seattle area once evaluated in foster care.April 24, 2024, 9:46 pm

Story
Animal Profile: Rose and Sadie were found abandoned in Cheney, WA in 2020. They were rescued by a loving family and have been in a home ever since. Unfortunately, one of their owners suffered a life-alternating medical emergency that resulted in massive brain surgery. This person now requires round-the-clock care, and the dogs need a new place to call home. When we heard their story, we had to help! Rose and Sadie are both dog friendly and have lived with large and small dogs, as well as gone to doggy daycare. They are house and crate trained, and true to the breed would like to be your constant shadow. Rose and Sadie have been around children ranging from toddlers to teens. Rose can get a little tired of the small ones and will excuse herself to a crate if she’s done interacting. Sadie would love nothing more than to permanently attach herself to the kids. Sadie is overweight at 100 lbs and is currently on a weight loss journey. Rose and Sadie have lived together since 2020 and, while not required, we would consider a same-household adoption for these girls.  Foster Update: Coming soon! Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550 which includes spay, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, negative heartworm test, health certificate, and microchip with lifetime registration. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as Dog Gone Seattle is a 501c3 organization. Story
This sweet boy is a social butterfly, always ready to show off his belly for those coveted belly rubs, even with new friends. When it comes to doggy introductions, Bebe is a gentle greeter, preferring to make friends with dogs his size. He is not one for rough play and will politely back away from any four-legged friend showing aggression until things calm down. During his encounters with a curious stray cat, Bebe's sniffometer definitely spikes! But, true to his loyal nature, he listens well to her handler's cues to move along. With moderate energy levels, Bebe loves outdoor adventures but transforms into a calm companion indoors, making him the ideal buddy for any occasion. Resource guarding? Not in Bebe's playbook! He is incredibly easy-going, sharing his treasures without a second thought. Mastering the art of leash walking and the fine technique of car entry and exit, Bebe is quite the clever cookie. Plus, his extensive training means he is fluent in a plethora of commands! While Bebe currently does his business both indoors and outdoors, once he settles into a routine, he’ll happily transition to outdoor potty exclusivity. If you're on the lookout for a tender-hearted and intelligent companion, Bebe is the perfect match for you! To see more videos:https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLIsLTtIpe3Jyd1-1Ak8SH0dp-PVO4byAE

Story
Happy was found by Tulare Animal Service and then transferred to Seattle Humane. Happy is a happy-go-lucky, counter-surfing, clumsy, goofy giant puppy. He is a very friendly, sweet, and affectionate boy who loves to hoard all the attention to himself. An ideal home for Happy would be a house with a yard or an open space for him to run and exercise in. Happy is highly food motivated and needs a lot of patience regarding his training. He's graduated puppy education class in 2022. However, Happy did not have a structured training regimen at home, causing him to be unresponsive to many commands and to break his commands without a release command. He is currently being cared for by a close friend and they have been successfully, but slowly, working on his training and behavior.

Story
He's a clown, he's a lover, he's gentle, and he's a world champion snuggler. Rolo has a heart full of love, and he just wiggles with joy when his special someone comes home. HISTORY Rolo is part of the Cocoapup litter - five very young babies who were dumped on a country road near Prosser, in Eastern Washington, in early September 2023. A rescuer took them in and called on HART for help. We were able to place them in a foster home, and they have been in foster care ever since. The breed mix of dumped puppies is always a "best guess" situation. However, based on their appearance and temperament and supported by a DNA test an adopter did on the Cocoapup they took home (who is almost the spitting image of Rolo), we're confident that mama is a Doberman. The DNA test indicated papa is a Husky/Malamute mix. Rolo is located in Pasco, Eastern Washington. We post our dogs as located in other cities in order to optimize their chances of finding a great home. These dogs are totally worth a road trip! However, if necessary we will transport them to an approved home anywhere within the Pacific Northwest. SOCIALIZATION Socializing these dogs since their rescue has been a long, slow process, because they were in very poor physical health when we took them in, and that slowed their social development. Rolo has made huge strides in building confidence and learning to accept new people and situations, but he needs an adoptive family that will continue patiently working with him. With people he knows Rolo is a happy, affectionate pup. He takes a while to warm up to strangers, but treats help! He's looking for an adopter who is willing to continue socializing him and building his confidence. He hasn't been around children while in our care, but we believe he'd do well with kind children aged around 10 or older. He's a gentle boy and we'd trust him with younger children, but he'd likely find typical kid energy overwhelming. Rolo shares his foster home with several other dogs, and gets on well with all of them. He often initiates play, but respects their boundaries. We believe he'd do best in a home with another laid back, friendly doggo to show him the ropes and help him fit in - and, of course, to be a playmate. There are four cats in Rolo's foster home, and he pretty much ignores them. He will do well in a home with a confident, dog-savvy cat. He has also shared a foster home with ducks and chickens, and he showed no sign of any prey drive. TEMPERAMENT & BEHAVIOR Rolo would enjoy life with an active family. He's a mellow, laid-back pup who knows how to relax and do nothing, but he does need daily exercise, play and stimulation. If you don't give this boy enough of a workouthe will entertain himself! He loves to dig - if there's a fishpond or a swimming pool in your landscaping plans, Rolo would love to help! Once he's had his workout, he is a snugglebug deluxe! Rolo's favorite place in the world is up on the couch, cuddled up close to his foster mom and soaking up as many pets as she's willing to dish out. However he isn't needy - when you're working at your computer or busy with chores, he's content simply to stay close by and watch you. He enjoys a good chew, especially on a good juicy bone, and he's pretty good at knowing what's his to chew and what's yours to leave alone. He loves stuffies and squeaky toys, and usually takes a while to destroy them. For active play, nothing beats a good zoomie - alone or with a friend. He also loves rough play with the other dogs - tag, tug, you name it, he's up for it. Rolo rarely barks unless the other dogs get him going. That said, he's very vocal - his one Husky character trait! He has opinions and likes to express them, and when he's sad and lonely he'll tell you about that too. TRAINING He is reliably house-trained and will tell you when he wants to go outside. He's crate trained and is used to being crated at night or when his foster mom is away from home. He's not yet ready to be loose unsupervised in your home. However, his house manners are generally pretty good. This boy is very smart and highly trainable. He responds well to correction, is treat-motivated, and loves to learn. However, he still has a lot to learn. His recall is iffy - sometimes he'll come, sometimes he's busy. He's still learning to be comfortable on a leash, but he tends to pull. He knows "sit" and is learning "no" and "leave it". However, in many ways Rolo is still a puppy. He can be bouncy and clumsy, and is still learning not to jump up on people. He likes to dig in the yard - seriously, if you think your house might be sitting on oil, he's the dog for you, but if you're passionate about your garden, he probably isn't right now. In other words, like most adolescents he still has lessons to learn about being a civilized family member. PHYSICAL & HEALTH STATUS Based on their teeth and the fact that they could barely lap water, we estimate that the Cocoapups were maybe six weeks old when we took them in. We have assigned them July 23, 2023 as their birthday. Rolo is in good overall health, and have been neutered, vaccinated, treated for intestinal parasites, and microchipped. We expect him to weigh around 75-80 lbs when full-grown. ADOPTION INFORMATION The Cocoapups are living in a private home, and will be available to meet you after your adoption application has been approved. Please email HearthfireART@gmail.com to request an adoption application form. Story
This gentle, shy boy has the softest nature. He's a lover and loves him some snuggles, he loves to play, and he's also able to just quietly kick back and mind his bone. He's looking for a place in a family of calm, kind people who will enjoy introducing him to all the good things the world has to offer a sweet pup. HISTORY Heath is part of the Cocoapup litter - five very young babies who were dumped on a country road near Prosser, in Eastern Washington, in early September 2023. A rescuer took them in and called on HART for help. We were able to place them in a foster home, and they have been in foster care ever since. The breed mix of dumped puppies is always a "best guess" situation. However, based on their appearance and temperament and supported by a DNA test an adopter did on the Cocoapup they took home, we're confident that mama is a Doberman. The DNA test indicated a Husky/Malamute mix; we also think some of the pups may have been fathered by a German Shepherd. SOCIALIZATION Socializing these dogs since their rescue has been a long, slow process, because they were in very poor physical health when we took them in, and that slowed their social development. Heath has made huge strides in building confidence and learning to accept new people and situations, but he needs an adoptive family that will continue patiently working with him. With people he knows, Heath is affectionate, confident and trusting. With visitors he may initially be cautious, but once he's had a chance to check them out he warms up quickly - especially if treats are on offer! However, introductions must go slowly; Heath doesn't cope well with people who push too hard into his space or try to force him, and he may nip if you don't give him time and space to decide you're okay. Heath shares his foster home with several dogs and gets on well with all of them. He loves to play, but respects their boundaries and happily lets them boss him around. He would enjoy playdates with other dogs that are polite and friendly. There are four cats in Heath's foster home, and he would very much like to be friends with them. He will do well in a home with a confident, dog-savvy cat. He has also shared a foster home with free-range ducks and chickens, and showed very little prey drive. TEMPERAMENT & BEHAVIOR As Heath matures he's developing into a moderate energy dog. He needs daily exercise, enjoys walks around his neighborhood, and has the potential to be a great hiking companion for hikes and other outings, but he's also able to join you for couch time and quietly keep you company while you're at your computer. He is very playful! With the other dogs in his foster home he likes to roughhouse. His favorite outdoor game is keep-away, he enjoys tug-of-war with the Chihuahua, and he loves to run zoomies. He enjoys toys, and especially likes to eviscerate squeaky stuffies. He's also an enthusiastic chewer of pretty much anything he can wrap his mouth around - he LOVES a big meaty bone. With his own people this boy is a lover. He'll line up for his share of any pets on offer, and he loves to lie at his special human's feet and just keep you company. When strangers come into his space he barks - he's an excellent watchdog - and he's developing an instinct to protect his people. Although generally quiet, he barks at people passing by his foster home, and alerts when he hears an unfamiliar noise. He enjoys car rides and is calm and interested while traveling. TRAINING Heath is reliably potty trained, and crate trained. He is not yet ready to have unsupervised free run of the house. This boy is very smart and highly trainable. He responds well to correction, is treat-motivated, and loves to learn. We believe he'll be increasingly rewarding to train as his confidence grows. He's already making progress on some basic obedience training. His recall is iffy - sometimes he comes, sometimes he's busy. He walks very well on a leash, and is learning "sit", "no" and "leave it". However, in many ways Heath is still a puppy. He still hasn't quite figured out the difference between human stuff (don't chew) and his stuff (chew at will). He can be bouncy and clumsy, and is still learning not to jump up on people. He likes to dig in the yard. In other words, like most adolescents he still has lessons to learn about being a civilized family member. PHYSICAL & HEALTH STATUS Based on their teeth and the fact that they could barely lap water, we estimate that the Cocoapups were maybe six weeks old when we took them. We have assigned them July 23, 2023 as their birthday. Heath appears to be in good overall health, and has been vaccinated, treated for intestinal parasites, neutered and microchipped. We expect him to weigh 75-80 lbs when full-grown. ADOPTION INFORMATION Heath is living in a private home, and will be available to meet you after your adoption application has been approved. Please email HearthfireART@gmail.com to request an adoption application form. Heath's adoption fee is $385.
