Story
Please contact Kady Hammer (KadyH@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.energetic young floof seeking active home! RED NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name: Red          Best Guess for Breed:  Australian shepherd and border collie mix  Best Guess for Age:   10 months as of April 2024       SEX: Male   Approximate Weight:  48 lbs as of 3/11/24; he is still growing!   Gets Along With:   Other dogs! We haven't seen him with kids or cats but he can be tested   Currently Living at:  South Carolina shelter; needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get his freedom ride up here   Red is Looking For:   His forever family!  Red's beautiful, fluffy coat covers a high-octane, high-energy body! Going by appearances alone, we think this dog is a herding breed mix, and those dogs can run all day. Red might need a lot of  just that - activity. Mere daily walks and/or time in the yard won't be enough. Red is looking for daily opportunities to run and play with other dogs and lots of additional mental stimulation / enrichment. He would likely benefit from being one of those sporty dogs who does advanced obedience training, agility, or nose work! Dogs who don't get all the physical activity and mental enrichment they need will find a way to release their energy in undesirable ways (think chewing on that new couch or pair of shoes you just bought). If Red is indeed the breeds he appears to be, he will need an adopter who loves being active as much as he does and wants a buddy for fun adventures.       What he wants as much as he wants to be active is to know he is safe and loved. What do you say? Can you see yourself stroking his fluffy coat while you chill with him after a long fun day together?   What My Foster Says About Me:   We will update this once he has arrived in the DC area and spent some time with his foster Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:      The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online   at   bit.ly/adoptaluckydog  .   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. That said, we cannot make any guarantees about age, breed or temperament. Thank you for contacting Lucky Dog Animal Rescue and helping to save a life!  Please visit us online at      www.luckydoganimalrescue.org   .    BE A FOSTER!!!     Fosters make it possible for Lucky Dog Animal Rescue to save and care for homeless and abandoned dogs! To learn about fostering, please contact fostering@luckydoganimalrescue.org! Please contact Melissa A Aten (melissaa@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.Wee baby ISO forever home! LEO NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!!       Name:  Leo            Best Guess for Breed:  Terrier Mix      Best Guess for Age:  6 months as of April 2024            SEX:  Male   Estimated Weight (puppies' weights change quickly!):  25 lbs as of April 2024   Gets Along With:  Most puppies are in the prime of their socialization window and will do well with other dogs, cats and kids so long as they receive patience and proper training.   Currently Living at: DC Foster Home   Leo is Looking For:  Hiya! My sister and I have loved hanging out with each other, but, honestly, it's getting to be time for my very own family.  and I am ready to stretch my puppy legs and find my own very own forever home! I'm looking for lots of love, treats, belly rubs, toys, and snuggles (not necessarily in that order). Once I'm a little older, I'd also love to go on lots of walks and other adventures, have lots of opportunities to play with other pups, and maybe take a class or two to show you how smart I am. What do you say? Do you have room in your heart for little old me? What My Foster Says About Me: Coming soon! Puppy Vetting Requirements:        Lucky Puppies have had their age appropriate vaccines, but may not yet be “fully” vaccinated. It is the adopter’s responsibility to ensure that the remaining puppy vaccines are given at the appropriate time. Please also keep in mind that, until your puppy is fully vaccinated, they are at greater risk for illness than an adult dog.      Due to this puppy’s young age, she/he has not yet been spayed or neutered.  As part of the adoption contract, it will be your responsibility, as the adopter, to ensure that this is done no later than April 8, 2024. There are NO EXCEPTIONS and NO EXTENSIONS to this date. A non-refundable spay/neuter deposit will be collected if you would like Lucky Dog to pay for this animal to be spayed/neutered at one of our low cost partner vets.   Your new puppy will need to work on their house training and will also need to go to obedience school so they can grow into a well-socialized dog!  TO ADOPT:       The adoption fee for this puppy is $485, which includes the cost of routine vetting and transport from the shelter.    If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online bit.ly/adoptaluckydog   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. Story
** I am currently being housed at our New York Avenue location. Come meet me at 1201 New York Avenue NE, every day from 12pm-7pm. Please arrive no later than 6:30 p.m. to allow ample time to interact with adoptable dogs. Or visit humanerescuealliance.org/how-to-adopt to learn more. Who is the color of dark chocolate and twice as sweet? Tori, a clever 3-year-old girl, who knows how to sit and shake a paw. She's a little nervous to be in a shelter but warms up quickly to people. When she sticks a paw in your lap and asks for a pet, who can say no?
