Story
Gypsy is playful, enjoys catnip toys, sparkle balls, teaser wands and feathers. She appreciates places to hide and enjoys napping at the top of a cat tower. Gypsy gets a charge out of being in a Catio (enclosed patio for cats) where she can watch the birds and chase bugs. Gypsy came to Friends of Jackson County rescue traumatized when discovered on an interstate ramp. Her post traumatic symptoms are fearfulness and interacting with people. Gypsy does not like to be held, confined or being put in a trapped situation. In a stable home with routines and a respect for her fear, Gypsy is a perfectly pleasant house cat. She needs stability, space and her human companion to respect her boundaries and limitations. Gypsy will be dependent on you to take care of her. Her ideal home is with adult people, preferably someone who is experienced with cats and is capable of continuing to work with her and follow her care and training plan to continue positive progress. Gypsy must be an inside kitty only. She is very social towards other cats and gentle with kittens. It would be in Gypsy's favor if she was adopted with another cat that she pals around with; recommendation can be provided. A home with no dogs is preferred. Gypsy is 1 year old with a black medium length coat. Friends of Jackson County Animal Shelter Pets (FJCASP) is a foster-based rescue for dogs and cats. All pets are in a home environment cared for by a foster person who provides temporary care until the pet can be placed in a permanent home. Story
Josephine is sassy, saucy and brassy but she is a doll! She goes for basking in the sun, lounging on a cat tree and feasting on lickable cat treats. Josephine chirps like a songbird when she wants something and can be very persuasive with those big eyes! She is shy and apprehensive with new people and new places but with love, patience and plenty of lickable treats Josephine should be confident quickly. She is skeptical of loud noises, such as, a dishwasher or vacuum cleaner. Josephine’s ideal home is with an individual, couple or family with older children. A home that is quiet and calm. She would do best in a home with a feline friend. Josephine will be fine with a cat-friendly dog that is mature and has a tranquil demeanor. A slow introduction to any new pets is needed. Josephine is 2-years-old with a blue medium length coat. She has a semi-cobby body with a small frame, big round eyes that are bright and full of color. If interested in meeting this kitty, you can find an online adoption application at https://fjcasp.wufoo.com/forms/adoption-application/ adoption fees cover spay/neuter, vaccinations, wormers and preventatives and range from $30-$110. Frank is a lovebug, talkative and mischievous. He is super pleasant, friendly and good-natured. Frank is chill, relaxed and lounges around on the porch with his human companion. He will occasionally get a burst of energy and run around the house. Frank walks really well on a leash and harness. He releases his vigor by pouncing and catching a toy at the end of a kitty wand. Frank's ideal home is with an individual, couple or family. He is composed and amiable with other cats and a cat-friendly dog. Frank is 10 years old with a blue medium length coat, golden yellow eyes and a left crinkled ear. He is in early-stage kidney disease; therefore, must be on a special diet, otherwise Frank is doing very well! Story
Hunter is a very good-natured, energetic and funny kitten! He gets a kick out of rolling in catnip, likes sunbathing in the windowsill and goes for snuggling with other pets. Hunter gets the zoomies with his cat spring toy at night! He allows his human companion to hold him like a baby but isn’t the biggest fan of caresses and smooches as Hunter meows, "Really, human??” He relishes in treats, some of his favs are lickable cat treats, freeze-dried chicken and freeze-dried minnows! Hunter's favorite part of the day is his wet food meals. He truly is the perfect cuddle buddy and would love to Netflix and chill while eating snacks with his new people! Hunter's ideal home is with an individual, couple or family; he is very gentle with a 10-year-old and should do well with children of all years. Hunter is accustomed to being around cats and dogs of various ages. He is a brown tiger tabby with a medium length coat and flaunts ear furnishings. As of June 2024, Hunter is 3 months old. Story
Good ol' Charlie is loyal, determined, kind and patient. He will be a true friend. Charlie is very content to curl up on his human companion's chest, purring away and showing his enduring affection with love bites on your fingers. He gets a charge out of all the love. Charlie takes to chasing the dot from a laser light and then he is ready for a crunchy treat. His ideal home is with an individual, couple or family. Charlie hangs about with his littermate Schroeder but will express disapproval when an unfamiliar cat is in his presence. This should subside with time. He is accustomed to being around a cat-friendly dog. Charlie is slender and sleek with a black medium length coat and flashes hazel eyes. As of August 2024, Charlie is 4 months old. Story
Marshmallow is the sweetie’s name because we showed up one day a couple months ago while we were roasting marshmallows and generously cleaned up the marshmallow mess. She is really sweet and talkative. She loves belly rubs. She loves to play with my parents dog. She seems to be comfortable being inside or outside. Get this sweetie while you can. The only reason she needs a home is because of severe cat allergy of family and us not being able to take on another animal. In the process of finding her a new home we found out she was pregnant, so now we also have 5 maybe two week old kittens. Please help us help us find this sweetheart of a cat and her kittens a new home.
