Story
If you were looking for a dog in a cat`s body, look no further! Doja Cat is the sweetest, goofiest girl you will ever meet. She loves to cuddle and be involved with whatever you are doing. She loves to play and has even been outside with a harness and leash, and loved it! She is great at fitting in and being down to do whatever you want to do, which makes her a great companion. She has come out of her shell so much over the past few weeks and has the most beautiful personality! Added bonus: she`s litterbox trained! If you are interested in meeting this beautiful girl, please send us an email to fosterpets@burlingtonnc.gov.

Story
Foster notes, 1/4/24:Miss Betty is a beautiful tuxedo cat and has been a loving and attentive mom to her four kittens, who have thrived under her care. However, despite being with me for the past six weeks, she has retained her semi-feral behavior. Although I was able to touch her while she was nursing her kittens, she will no longer tolerate it. She will hiss when I approach her with my hand, but has never swatted or attacked me. She doesn`t run and hide, and will tolerate other people in the room. When she isn`t cuddling with her babies, eating, or using the litter box (which she does without fail!), Miss Betty is usually in the corner beside the cat tree, or on the perch looking out the window. I had hoped to make some progress with her, but she shows no interest in becoming a house cat at this point. I do feel she`ll be an excellent barn cat, as she is now used to being around people. Miss Betty, even though feral, has used the litter box from the beginning, and has never had an accident. She eats both dry and wet food and has an excellent appetite. Miss Betty and her kittens haven`t had any contact with my own cats outside of the kitten room, so I don`t know how she will be with other cats. I don`t know if she was part of a managed colony before she was brought to BAS, or if she was a single stray. I do think she`ll make an excellent barn or warehouse cat, as she has gotten used to people and being fed regularly. If you`re looking for a good barn or warehouse kitty, email us at petadoption@burlingtonnc.gov.

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
From the foster:Little Lady is one of many neighborhood cats that came with a home I purchased. When I moved in, I put in a cat door to my basement, and the outside crew could come in for shelter, food, and water. As my crew got to know the outside crew, and I got everyone vaccinated, everyone was allowed to mingle and go in and out as they pleased. Little Lady gets along with my dog, my ferret (although I have to watch her as she can play too rough ), and most cats.Little Lady is a love bug, whether she`s in your lap or beside you on the couch. She loves to follow me and my dog as I walk around my yard or ride my shoulder when she decides she is tired of walking. She has been an inside/outside cat, but she might be completely content to be inside only. She is litter-trained and will let me trim her nails. I do keep them trimmed as she is a cat who will “reach” out for you to say hi as you walk by. She loves a tall scratching post she can stretch out and scratch on. She has also discovered the joy of wet cat food.

Story
Bruce Wayne is 6 months old indoor kitten. He loves playing and will even play hide and seek with you! Once he gets comfortable with you he will crawl up on your chest and sleep for hours. He loves to be with his owner all of the time and will follow you anywhere. He loves to look out any window he can, playing with his favorite toys, and all of the praise he can get- his favorite phrase being "good boy". :) Bruce is high energy cat so he will require someone who is willing to put in the time to playing with him frequently. He is also a very stubborn cat so he will require someone who is experienced with cats to be patient with him throughout training. He does experience separation anxiety, so he would also do best in a home with other cats or an owner who spends a lot of time at home. He will come with all of his favorite toys and crate for his comfort.

Story
Waffle is a boy who can be shy at first, but, once comfortable in a new environment, becomes quite playful. He is active, cuddly and sweet. He loves to play with his sister, Marshmallow, and she actually helps him feel more confident around new people. Waffle and Marshmallow were rescued as tiny kittens from a condemned house, along with their mom, Ice Cream. He learned early on to love hugs, pets and cuddles but he does take his time getting used to new dynamics and will need a patient family that will give him and Marshmallow time to adjust. He prefers to sit in your lap and be held while you pet him and will often take a snooze that way. www.hsaconline.org/adopt.html

Story
PLEASE NOTE: Marshmallow and Waffle are a bonded pair and MUST be adopted together! Marshmallow is a stunning cat with incredibly unique characteristics. As a kitten, she presented as a grey DMH with a tiny patch of white upon her chest. As she has grown older, her coloring has changed and she now appears to be a grey DSH from the torso up while her bottom half is now dilute calico! Marsh was rescued out of a condemned property along with her brother, Waffle, and their mom, Ice Cream. She is a timid girl who will need a quiet environment to get comfortable in although she does gain more and more confidence, every day. She adores her brother and absolutely loves to tussle with him around the house. She is a bit more confident than he is at the moment and he looks to her for guidance around new people. Tube treats and wand toys are the way into their hearts! Marshmallow is looking for the right forever family who will be willing to be patient with her and Waffle and give them the time to acclimate and become the lap cats they'd love to be!
