Reese is available for Foster to Adopt!! ***Please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form*** As a foster-to-adopt family, you will have two weeks to get to know your new furry house guest before committing to adoption. At the end of two weeks, if you choose not to move forward with adoption, we simply ask that you continue to provide a safe and loving home until their new forever family can be found. During your foster-to-adopt trial, you’ll receive the support of a Fetch + Releash mentor to help you through the transition and answer any questions or concerns you may have. Foster-to-adopt families will be required to pay a $200 deposit on the adoption fee and sign our foster-to-adopt waiver in advance. If you choose not to adopt, your $200 will be refunded to you within 30 days of your dog being adopted into a new family provided you see your pup through to adoption. If you choose not to see your dog through to adoption, you will forfeit your deposit. Foster-to-adopt families will be expected to provide their own supplies. Visit https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info for more info on mandatory supplies. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Reese / F / 1Y / 30lbs / Feist Mix / Good Second Dog / Good with People / No Cats Please / Good with Dog-Savvy Kids / From Tennessee / Fostered in Toronto ** Follow Reese's journey on Instagram: @woofwooofgang ** Meet Reese! This Southern girl is as sweet as can be and the colours of a peanut butter cup hence her name. Reese’s foster describes her as loving, sweet, and cuddly. She loves to play with her canine foster siblings. Once that is done she enjoys chewing on her bully stick and cuddling with her humans. She is social and outgoing with all people and canines she meets. Reese is a very chill girl but still requires 2-3 walks daily as well as some playtime due to her age. She has a high prey drive an often will pull towards squirrels. Her future family should be willing to continue to support her training in this aspect. Doggy enrichment will also help keep her mind busy and fulfilled. She is a very relaxed and chill girl but still requires physical stimulation as the key to success. Reese loves going on her walks but does tend to pull. Her future adoptive family will need to continue to work on leash skills with her. Reese is fully potty trained and has not had any accidents. However, sometimes when she is nervous she may have a few accidents in the home. Her future family should be prepared to deal with this in the first few days in a new home. Reese is crate trained and enjoys sleeping in her crate. Reese can also be trusted to have free rein of the home while her fosters are away and has done well. She has counter surfed before so her adoptive family will need to make sure all human food is put away. Reese is curious and is always looking for adventure so if she finds a family who has a yard they will need to ensure it's secure and that she is not left unsupervised. She has been known to dig to go under or climb to jump over fences. Her forever family must take precautions to keep her safe and secure, including the purchase of a GPS tracker. The cost of the device will be the responsibility of her adoptive family. Reese is quiet and could live in any type of environment. She would do well in a home with other dogs but also as a solo dog. Reese has not been tested with children under 10 but due to her temperament, we believe she would do well with dog-savvy kids and make a great family dog. Reese is looking for a home without cats as she is prone to chase them. Reese can't wait for all the adventures she will have by your side. Due to allergies, Reese is currently eating a specific food, which is working really well for her and would need to stay on this food to avoid itchy flair ups with her skin. Prior to coming into care, Reese tested positive for Ehrlichia. Ehrlichia is a tick-borne disease that stays in the bloodstream for many years. A CBC was performed to see if there was an active infection and the results came back indicating that there is no active infection. It is recommended that she have annual wellness blood work along with a 4dx blood test once a year unless clinical signs arise. If clinical signs of Ehrlichia arise we recommend having her bloodwork done sooner. Also, note that Reese should have pre-op blood work including a CBC and platelet count before any surgery or dental extractions. (due to the risk of low platelet count). If you’re interested in fostering with the intention of adopting Reese, please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form Reese's adoption fee is $500.
