Story
Hi there. My name is DASH (Boris) and here is a little info about me:Breed: Flat Coated Retriever mixAge: 2 years oldGender: MaleWeight: 28 kgHeight: 47 cmHighlights: gentle, outgoing, friendly, social, watchful Despite my hardships growing up, I possess a gentle spirit and a pair of soulful eyes that speak of resilience.I had a rough start. Born on the streets of Turkey, I had to learn to survive. My days were filled with scavenging for food, avoiding larger dogs, and seeking shelter in hidden corners. I used to live on a university campus and was a community dog. However, it did not take long before university management started to collect all dogs and put them in a municipal shelter, which is simply a death sentence for a dog here. My community of volunteers didn’t let this happen and placed me into a boarding facility.Known for my friendly and outgoing nature, I form strong bonds with my peeps. I am often eager to please. With my glossy coat and playful demeanour, I will become a beloved member of your family, capturing the hearts of everyone in your home. This social butterfly thrives on human interaction and I am always eager to make new friends. My warm, expressive eyes reflect my affectionate nature, and my tail wags enthusiastically at the sight of anyone willing to give me attention. I am highly food-motivated. This can be an advantage in training. I can be influenced by other dogs’ temperaments, so I would be a good companion to a calm dog with a proper introduction. https://youtu.be/MEMyoAgcpt0.Despite my friendly nature, I harbour a peculiar aversion to men wearing hats. I know, kinda strange, hunh? It's a mystery to everyone, as I react with a mixture of curiosity and caution whenever I encounter someone sporting a hat. In addition, in addition, I may exhibit a sense of loyalty that makes me watchful over my loved ones. You will find me playful and entertaining. I love to play, run, and engage in various activities. Regular exercise is essential to keep me happy. I do know how to walk on leash: https://youtu.be/nFyYiib-eC4. Car rides are ever so fun:  https://youtu.be/DGT3vJ-thJENo idea how I am around kids and cats, I've never interacted with them. If you plan to adopt a dog for the first time or you are not an experienced dog owner, you should consider working with a trainer, as this bud has stayed in a boarding house for a long time and forgotten the city life manners. But here I am with a buddy:  http://https:\\youtu.be/DZ--QRmwFa0.Waiting for you to click that adopt button that gets me winging your way for loves and licks. My adopter needs to be willing to get training for me should these behaviors arise. Fears: None observed. Please be patient assisting me in my transition.Training: some leash workLeash skills: some. Health notes:I have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. My adoption fee is $800.00 CAD plus applicable taxes. This includes my transportation to Canada, if I am able to be accompanied by a flight volunteer directly to Vancouver. Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you. While most dogs find escorting passengers flying directly to Vancouver, some will find flights through Toronto or  Montreal. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 - $550 depending on the size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs. Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website. [MID-EAST] *Vaccinations: Dogs from the Middle East are vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper, leptospirosis, adenovirus type 1 and para-influenza. Bordetella is not given, as that has not been a problem in the Middle East. [TURKEY] *Dogs receive 4D SNAP tests - which include: Heartworm, Ehrlichiosis, Leishmania and Anaplasmosis. ##1913656##

Story
Greetings fine peeps. My name is BASIL (Pepper) and here's some info about me:Breed: Flat Coated RetrieverAge: 4 yearsGender: FemaleWeight: 29-1/2 kgHeight:  61 cm Loyalty and Intelligence are my hallmark traits, as you will see in a moment reading my story.Under my rescuer's care, I was then adopted by a family. Sadly, my adopted family faced many legal problems with their neighbors for owning a dog inside their apartment, ss is typical here in Lebanon. In the end, they were faced with an ultimatum; change homes or return me back to the facility. So, I was returned and have been with them now since February 2022.An interesting story about me (here's the amazing part I mentioned) is that I saved the family’s youngest son from being run over by a car! I was out on a walk with my adopted family when a car drifted by and almost hit the youngest member of my family. Luckily, I recognized the threat in time and was quick on my paws. I caught the boy by his shirt’s collar and dragged him aside, making me the family’s hero! To me, I was just doing the job a dog should be doing.I'm a clever girl, who will happily show you my obedient side. Being an affectionate pupper, you'll find me by your side ready for love, giving and getting.Since I am still a playful dog: https://youtu.be/7HKTEpiS_20, who gets along great with other dogs and who LOVES to swim, I sure hope we'll be able to include some trips to the river, lakes and/or beaches. A kiddie pool would be fun too. We can have such great adventures together... side by side, becoming bffs. Story
THE UNLIKELY DUO: 'Boo' the Shar Pei and 'Pickle's the Flat Coated Retriever! These two dogs found each other in the unlikeliest of places-a shelter. They formed an inseparable bond from the moment they met becoming BFF's. Pickles has had a tough start to life with a background of uncertainty and insecurity. Having lived in an outdoor pit of his own filth, he was never socialized with humans and therefore struggled with confidence and trust. Staff have been working patiently and tirelessly on developing his confidence around new people and experiences and knew he needed someone patient and understanding to help him blossom. That someone turned out to be Boo. Her playful antics and boundless energy brought joy not only to Pickles but also the staff and volunteers who witnessed their friendship unfold. Whether they were engaged in a game of chase or simply chilling together, their presence was a source of entertainment. Boo has a big, quirky personality in a small package. Boo arrived with a severe skin condition that is being managed through diet and baths and will likely need to be continued for the rest of her life. Boo is usually quite confident but in certain situations, she can get a little nervous. She knows when to seek out a quiet spot if she needs a break. Neither dog would be suitable for young children.Pickles is still learning to trust people but has been accepting and seeking out pets. Learning to walk on a leash is still something that will have to be worked on. We have been introducing a harness to him and he has shown us just how much he has progressed. Pickles loves toys, especially squeaky toys, and can be very playful! He is very silly and loves to play with his shelter bestie, Boo. Each and everyday he gets a little braver and his personality shines. He is a retriever after all and has that silly personality where everything should go in his mouth. Toys, blankets the occasional broom lol! Ideally, Pickles and Boo would be adopted together. Boo has really shown Pickles how to be a dog and that it is okay to trust people. The two of them have become very close and spend their days by each other's side. We recognize this is a big ask due to their different needs, but we think a home together would be what is best for both of them. Primary Color: Black Weight: 23.6 Age: 0yrs 11mths 0wks

Story
Hiya, my name is Dorothy, but you can call me Dory or Dot for short! Heck, you can call me anything you want in exchange for giving me a loving furever home! Sound like a good deal? I am an 8 month-old black lab mix weighing about 45 pounds. I'll probably grow a bit more, so when I'm a grown-up doggo I think I'll be between 50-60 lbs. You won't even notice my size once you see what a sweetheart I am though -- I'm quite the catch, or so they tell me down here in Mexico!  What's my story? Well, when my mama was pregnant with me and my sibs, she was looking for shelter. She tried to make a home for us at a ranch, however we were not welcome there. Lucky for us, our rescuers came and saved me, my mama, and all my siblings. All of my litter-mates have found their forever homes except for me and my sister Pepper. Maybe it's because we're black dogs? Did you know that black dogs are the most often overlooked by adopters??  I am living in a temporary home for now, and although I am being cared for, it definitely isn't a glamorous situation. You see, me and Pepper are living in the bathroom at our "home", which is no place for two adorable, energetic puppies! We need room to roam and play and live life to the fullest! Being a puppy, I still exhibit some classic puppy behaviours (you know, some nipping, jumping up, restless zoomies, some adolescent stubborness... hehe). What can you expect though, I'm just a youngin'! Lucky for me (and you, of course!), I still possess that ridiculously cute puppy-look. I am a kind-hearted, energetic pup that is keen to learn! I am a clean slate in terms of training—I've got my whole doggy life ahead of me to learn so many tricks and good manners.  I am a VERY sweet and happy puppy and I love to play and go out for walks. I'm good with dogs, cats, and kids! Check out the photo of me being hugged by a child-- see? I'm such a tolerant pooch!!  With proper training and socialization, I will inevitably develop great relationships (and manners) and flourish into a wonderful family dog. I am SO ready to find my loving forever home-- do you think you could make room in your hearts for a sweet gal like me? My adoption fee of $750 includes my airfare to Canada, presuming I am able to be accompanied by a Flight Volunteer.   Due to the global pandemic and associated travel restrictions, it is taking longer than usual to find flight volunteers to escort your dog to Vancouver. Dogs from Mexico typically arrive within 4-8weeks of being approved for adoption. NOTE: Mexico dogs fly into SEATTLE (not Vancouver). This requires a USA/Canada border transfer, which can be done in one of two ways: You may walk across the border at Peace Arch Park to collect your dog from a USA volunteer. You would declare your dog at Canadian Customs before walking back to your car. There is about a 75% chance that CBSA will require you to self-quarantine for 14 days, so please be prepared to do so if asked. Cost to adopter:          $32 inspection fee. Pay for a brokerage company (Pacific Customs Brokers Ltd.) to get your dog across the border. You would meet them on the Canadian side, thus having no need to self-quarantine. Cost to adopter:          $470 (+ $32 inspection fee) if only 1 dog is crossing  OR $275 (+ $19 inspection fee) if 2+ dogs are crossing at the same time  ***NOTE: we would try our best to make sure that 2 or more dogs are crossing at the same time in order to keep the cost down for you!*** PLEASE NOTE: There is no expectation for the adopter to pay any more than the adoption fee itself. We simply provide these as options in case an adopter wishes to receive their dog sooner than it would take to fly their dog to Vancouver with a flight volunteer. In the event you wish to choose one of these options, LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding the costs and will ask for your approval before any travel arrangements are made.   Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs. Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. More information can be found on our website. ##957680##

Story
Hi, my name is Soba (Nono.) I am a 4 year old female labrador/Border Collie cross (best guess from my appearance). I have been in Canada (Greater Vancouver) for 3 years but, due to life circumstances of my adopter, he is unable to keep me. I am a loving dog who really enjoys being with my humans. I can be a bit vocal when I meet dogs on walks but I know I can learn some different greeting skills! After all, I'm part border collie and they can learn marvelous things! Please, please, come and meet me. You'll see what a great dog I am. I have recently been having a few knee problems which may need some help from a vet but you can find out more about this from my rehoming adopter. Whatever is the issue, it's not slowing me down much.  I  once had a family in the Middle East who actually rescued me from the street when I was just a month old. But they had to give me to the shelter for protection because someone called the police and they wanted to take me away. You see dogs are illegal to own here and quite often dogs are ripped away from our families and killed. I was lucky to be loved enough to be put in a shelter and not just thrown on the street. Even though I am safe from the police, life in a shelter can be very rough for some dogs. I am one of those dogs. I am a very sweet and loving dog and some of the other dogs see me a weak and are starting to attack me. I am so very scared so I would really love to get into another home quickly. I am not used to shelter life and I am getting very depressed. I really am a great dog. I am very smart and kind. I try hard to be friends with the other dogs here and I really do want to be friends and thankfully some of them are nice with me. I am loving with my human caretakers and I would love to be in a home, any home really. I would love to go on long walks and have playtime in the dog park too. I do have an advantage over some of the other dogs here in Iran because I actually did live in a home so I have an idea of how that is. I should make an easy transition into my new life. So as you see I urgently need to get our of the shelter before I get hurt by the other dogs. I am looking so forward to my new life in Canada all curled up and cozy in your home.   I am spayed, vaccinated and micro-chipped    My adoption fee is $500.00    please see our adoption guidelines at www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca   nono/fariba   ##204543##
