You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. //   Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.orgAdoption Fee $400 plus tax    Oakley is a handsome male fox hound mix who weighs 44 lbs.  He is good with other dogs and cats are ok. He comes off as a little timid at first but once he warms up he is all about play time. He will bond to one or two people and would perfer a home with no young humans.  He’s also very sweet and will cuddle up with you and loves kisses. He loves running and jumping and having lots of stuff outside to sniff! He does pretty well on leash although he does pull some. Oakley would do best in a home with another dog he can play with. If you have previously applied with us please email adoptionatmars@gmail.com to reactivate your application with new interest.All fees are subject to MN sales tax and a processing fee at the time of adoption. We accept Credit cards, Debit cards as well as cash. At this time we do not accept checks.       Our Adoption fees for all animals cover required vetting: which includes, Rabies, Distemper Vaccine Series, Bordetella, Deworming, Heartworm Test as age appropriate, Spay or Neuter and Microchip and registration. Adoption Fees are Non Negotialble. When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.  Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Hi, I'm Sonny! I'm an 10 month old Foxhound mix (best guess). I'm the perfect size, roughly 40 lbs. I might seem a little shy at first, but that's just because I'm still learning to trust. Once I get to know you, I promise to be your best friend. I love to play, but I also know when it's time to mellow out and cuddle. I'm gentle and sweet, even though I've had a tough start. I came here skinny, but with love and care, I'm getting stronger every day. I'm just a young pup, full of potential. If you adopt me, I promise to be the most loyal, loving companion you could ever ask for. If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to request an appointment to meet me. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and Minneapolis, MN areas twice a month. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual and we will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veteinarian ($35). Meet Gizmo, a gorgeous, sweet, smart, funny guy, who would make a great addition to your home! Gizmo is goofy and enjoys making people laugh. He likes playing with toys, "tag" with kids, and carrying things in his mouth. He loves napping near people, often times falling asleep in funny positions. Gizmo is eager to please and incredibly smart, so should be easy to teach tricks. He will love training classes and thrives on learning! Gizmo is quiet in his crate and sleeps through the night. Gizmo does well on walks with his main human (still working on it with others). He is doing well on perfecting his house manners. Gizmo has the most beautiful brindle coloring on his face and legs, small build (lighter than you think for his height), and the smoothest fur. So far, we haven't noticed much shedding. He can be incredibly fast and jumps very high- he is an athletic boy. He plays/works hard then sleeps hard! Gizmo is good around kids and dogs, after a warm up period. He can be shy at first but once he has been given time he is ready to go. Gizmo enjoys playing with other dogs and the resident feisty cat. He is very good about finding a quiet space to sleep (his crate), when he is done playing. Gizmo is a sweet by who is learning and becoming more and more confident!
