Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Lincoln will require an approved Best Friend Pet Adoption application before you can be considered or meet this handsome boy.   The link to the Best Friend Pet Adoption application is:   https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC FOSTER COMMENTS:  Lincoln is a 6-year-old male foxhound mix that currently weighs 62lbs.  Lincoln answers to "Linc".  He is very friendly to all the people he meets and he is unusually easy-going and not startled by noises.  He is such a sweet dog with an adorable derp-y face! Linc was clearly an outdoor dog in the past, but he's a smartie and is learning quickly . He tells us when he needs to go out to use the bathroom, and boy does he love his walks! When we let him out in the yard, he stays on a long lead due to the fence being a bit short, but he seems more interested in coming back inside than escaping at this time.  Linc is currently living with another dog (male, 62lbs) with whom he gets along well. He has also had the opportunity to meet other dogs of all sizes while on walks, and Linc has done well with all leash-greets. However, Lincoln does not do well with cats, and any home for him would need to be cat-free.  He has not been around children, but his fosters think he'd be okay with a dog-savvy older kid since he's very gentle with all people.  Linc is food motivated and has learned "sit," "touch," and is working on "wait." He really enjoys learning new tricks and solving puzzles. He also loves to walk and would benefit from a family who likes to be active. He is a high energy dog, so he needs plenty of time exercising.  Linc gets into the silliest moods where he rolls around and snuggles up with the people around him. He loves to get kisses and scratches, and he's really blossoming with continued affection. Linc is crate trained and currently sleeps through the night in his crate, but he would certainly prefer to join us in the human bed.   At some point in Linc's life he had some trama to his face.  We think it only makes him cuter!  He points, and his "alert" position is very nice, his tail curves over his back and he has a nice trot.  He is learning what it is like to be part of a family and is starting to relax.  He deserves a patient family that will give him unconditional love and consistent  support so he can be the best family pet. He is heartworm positive and this will be treated by Best Friend Pet Adoption. He is expected to make a full recovery and is not exhibiting any outward sign of heartworms.   Please consider giving Lincoln the love and family he deserves.   EVERY DOG HAS A STORY: Lincoln was found as a stray in a rural county.  He was either on his own for a while or starved by his owner, common for hunting dogs during the hunting season.  BFPA is helping this very sweet boy find his forever home.  Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.  We prefer applicants live no further than one hour from Cary NC as our dogs must be seen by a BFPA veterinarian for all medical care prior to adoptions being finalized.  Our foster guardians deliver dogs to their new homes for adoption trials and we do home visits to finalize all adoptions.  We therefore require applicants to live within an hour's drive of Cary NC.  We will consider applicants who live a bit further if they bring Linc back to Raleigh for all medical care.   INTERESTED IN ADOPTING LINCOLN ? Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please  go directly to  BFPA.ORG  if you are reading about this dog on another website. The BFPA website will provide more information.  All dogs on our website ARE available and require an application from Best Friend Pet Adoption .   FOSTER COMMENTS:  Leo is a handsom 8.5 years old Foxhound mix dog who currently weighs 55 pounds. He is an easy dog to take care of.  He is quiet, likes attention and cuddles, but is also fine hanging out on his own near his people.   Leo is very friendly.   He does not like dogs who get in his face, but ones that are more relaxed are his speed.  He has been around several dogs ranging from small puppies up to 95lb dogs and has done well with them.  He is allergic to cats and can be curious about them, so definitely best to be in a no cat home.  Leo is good around older, more predictable children.  If there are children in the home, they should be early teens at a minimum.   Leo is housebroken and quickly does his business and comes back inside.  Leo has never been in, nor needed, a crate.  At night he is free to roam the house and sleep wherever he would like.  Leo is well behaved when his foster family leaves the house.  They leave the blinds up for him to look out in a few rooms when they are away and he spends time lounging in those spaces.  He would do fine as an only dog in the home.  He is an only dog with his current foster family. Leo is a low activity, low energy dog.  He runs around with his toys for about 5 minutes a day and enjoys sprinting after pooping.  Otherwise, he spends his time napping or looking out the windows.  Leo is getting better on walks, but he gets excited about seeing other dogs and can be vocal and pull.  He needs a patient handler who can help him improve his leash skills because he really loves to go on a walk. Leo likes to chew on dog toys, toss his soft toys in the air and grab/chase them, nap in sunny places, go on walks and car rides, snuggle up with people, and chase/murder bugs.   Leo is an easy dog to take care of.  He likes attention and cuddles, but is also fine hanging out on his own near his people.   Leo is cute, sweet, and quiet and will do anything for peanut butter--including jumping in the tub for a bath and getting his nails trimmed! Leo is a great dog and would love a low-key life with people who are going to be patient with him.  His foster parents report that Leo is the easiest dog they've cared for. Leo will need an experienced dog owner who is able to continue to  provide a calm environment and maintain a routine.  He is not suitable for a first time dog owner. An adopter who has experience with resource guarding tendencies would be ideal.  Best Friend Pet Adoption will provide formal training guidance if necessary.    Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.  Applicants must live no further than one hour from Cary NC as our dogs must be seen by a BFPA veterinarian for all medical care prior to adoptions being finalized.  Our foster guardians deliver dogs to their new homes for adoption trials and we do home visits to finalize all adoptions.  We therefore require applicants to live within an hour drive of Cary NC. If an ideal applicant lives a bit further, we may consider that application.      INTERESTED IN ADOPTING  LEO? Story
Buddha is ready to be your best buddy! Sweet, gentle, and easygoing, he is looking for a forever home where he can kick back his feet and relax. Although he can be shy in new situations, Buddha gets along great with people and other dogs. He is gaining confidence every day! Because Buddha may have arthritis in his front left leg, he needs a home without boisterous children or dogs who may push him beyond his activity limit. He will thrive in a calm home with a fenced yard where he can enjoy the great outdoors. In fact, being outside is Buddha's favorite pastime. Some would even say he has the spirit of an outdoor cat. While he enjoys short leash walks, his true passion is to bask in the sun for hours on end. In addition to his sun-bathing snoozes, Buddha sleeps through the night without a peep for up to 10 hours. A quick learner, he is also crate-trained and rides well in the car. If you're looking for a chill, outdoorsy sun-bathing buddy, Buddha is the perfect fit! HEALTH Buddha is up-to-date on vaccinations, and he is currently taking an anti-inflammatory medication for his arthritis. He has an appointment to be neutered and microchipped. HISTORY Buddha was found as a stray in a rural area, and a Good Samaritan began nursing him back to good health. PHYSICAL Buddha has a tricolor coat with a white-tipped tail. His sweet, white-speckled face gives the appearance of being dusted with snow.

Story
Rocky is the epitome of a gentle giant at a spry senior. He loves nothing more than head scratches and to take a nap and lounge. He is happy to take a nap close to you but also loves to find a quiet space and curl up. He has done well with the other dog in his foster home, as well as the children there. He would be great for anyone looking for a low-maintenance love bug. Due to his age and older hips, he prefers short walks around the neighborhood to get in his sniffs and do his business. But, he loves to explore the backyard on his own. Even with his age, Rocky is still very STRONG and the hound dog nose is strong with him--once he picks up a scent, he wants to follow it (fair warning that this old fella can still keep people on their toes!) Due to his hips stairs are not his friend. A one-level house or apartment with an elevator would be ideal for Rocky. Rocky will make the perfect addition to someone very special.

Story
Hold on to your hearts...the Adonis of the hound world has arrived and his name is Mykonos! He is just as charming as he is handsome, and that's why this guy is such a catch. Mykonos is about 44 lbs full grown and is making lots of friends at the farm, but what he dreams of while he is napping in the sun is a family to love and a place to call home. He is curious and gentle and would fit in easily with most families. Mykonos is an easy-going dog and simple things like good food, sniffing around the yard, and love...that' s what keeps him happy. If you can't resist this hunky hound, request an appointment to meet him now! He'll be waiting for you with those 'take me home' eyes.
