Animal Profile: Kimber is a beautiful 5-year-old, 54 lb female German Shepherd who was found wandering as a stray and taken to Everett Animal Shelter. When the shelter environment was too stressful for her, we gave her a "jail break" and she's now in our foster care. Kimber has been waiting for a forever home since November 2021. Please share and help her find her forever family! Foster Update: Kimber is affectionate and bonds quickly with her person. She is looking for an adopter who is experienced with high-energy dogs and is willing to continue working with her. She loves lounging in the house watching out the windows. Her ideal home environment would be an adult-only household with working breed experience and a securely fenced yard. She has completed a 4-week board and train program with Lugaru K9 Training to address leash reactivity. Kimber can now walk nicely on leash and knows the following commands: sit, down, place, heel and leave it. She's not a candidate for dog parks as she easily gets over aroused and needs slow introductions to other dogs.  Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550 which includes spay/neuter, all core vaccinations, microchip, heartworm test and health certificate. Animal Profile: Verina is a 6-year-old, 70 lb female German Shepherd who was transferred to our rescue from Whatcom Humane Society. She lost her previous home when her family had to move due to a military assignment and they were unable to bring her along. Foster Updates: Verina, or Vi for short, is an active girl who loves to play. The bigger the stick, the better, in her opinion! When she first arrived in foster care we noticed a few things that made us think she might be deaf. A vet visit confirmed our suspicions, but you wouldn't know that when you first meet her. Verina is very interested in engaging with her people, and loves going for long walks on the property and playing fetch. She could entertain herself for hours outside and would love to live some place where she could enjoy her own yard. She has a good heel position and she makes lots of eye contact with her handler -- whoever is holding the leash -- for guidance in new situations. Vi knows the "place" and "crate" command as well as "sit" and "down". She can be tentative when first meeting new people, but once she opens up you can see her spirit shine. Verina previously lived with another dog, but is not interested in interaction as she is very people focused. Verina will make a loving and loyal companion in her forever home! Adopter Profile: Verina is looking for a family with German Shepherd or working dog experience. She needs to live in a single dog, adult only household with a securely fenced yard. She would love to live with someone that worked from home. Deaf dog experience a plus! Animal Profile: Freya is an estimated 4-year-old, 60 lb female German Shepherd who has a lot of love to give. She is smart and loves to work for you. She will thrive with a strong leader --  otherwise she is prone to anxiety. She is house trained, crate trained, fully obedience trained and will do best with a Shepherd-savvy owner capable of providing her with guidance as well as physical and mental stimulation. Freya LOVES to fetch and BALL IS LIFE. She walks well on a leash with a training collar. This loyal and affectionate girl is slow to warm up to new people and will need an owner who is comfortable managing her safe introductions to strangers, but once you earn her trust, she's very eager to please. Freya has lived with other dogs and loves to play with them; she's good with dogs big and small, male and female. At this time we are prioritizing a home for Freya with a resident dog(s) as we think she would do best in a pack. She's also been tested with cats and exhibits no prey drive, and is amusingly scared of chickens. She was taken into Tacoma Humane Society and transferred to Dog Gone Seattle. She was fostered with DGS for several months while she learned basic manners and gained 15 lbs. She was adopted in March 2021 and lived with a caring family. Unfortunately they lived in a condo with no secure yard in a busy urban environment, which proved too challenging for Freya with those particular owners. She was returned to DGS in April 2022 and received a professional board and train with our training partner Seattle K9 Command. Jazzy is a 15-month-old female German Shepherd  who -- along with her three siblings -- was abandoned in eastern WA and taken in by Quincy Animal Shelter. They were transferred and will be fostered in Seattle to learn crate and house training, basic obedience and social skills. We will share more as we get to know Jazzy in foster care.   Foster Update: Jazzy is a beautiful German Shepherd puppy with the personality to match! She is an active girl who would love to go on adventures with you. She loves people and always wants to be by your side. She especially likes to sleep cuddled up next to someone. Jazzy is dog friendly and likes to play outside with her foster dog brothers. If you're looking for an active pup who will want to be your best friend and adventure buddy, Jazzy's a wonderful girl! She will do best in a home with large-breed dog experience, a securely fenced yard, and another dog in the home. Jazzy is interested in cats, and wants to chase them so may be best if there are no cats in the home.  Adoption Info:  The adoption fee is $550, which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, flea/tick treatment, deworming, and microchip with lifetime registration. Animal Proflie: Petra is an estimated 4-to-5-year-old 70 lb (but fit!) spayed female German Shepherd who is sadly in need of a new home, due to no fault of her own. This wonderful girl is the Trifecta -- good with dogs, cats, and kids. She has lived happily with her family until her older owner got Long Covid and then an unexpected cancer diagnosis, which left them feeling like they couldn't give her the attention and exercise she needed. Upon evaluation, Petra was social and friendly meeting strangers including children, and has positive interactions and experience with kids as young as five. She is friendly and non-reactive with other dogs. She is playful with cats -- not aggressive -- and would love to groom them, but would be overwhelming for a cat that was not dog savvy. She does pull on leash if allowed and will require a confident handler. She is house-trained and crate-trained though she is non-destructive outside of the crate. She currently doesn't get much exercise and would probably enjoy more. She has no known health issues, no food intolerances or known allergies, and no sign of any orthopedic issues. This girl is truly a gem and we are so looking forward to finding her a loving home for the rest of her days.  Foster Update:  Petra  is settling in well and is very sweet! She is generally calm in her crate and is happy to snuggle up with her people. She is high-energy so will be best with adopters who are active and have time to tire her out. She enjoys playing with the other dogs at her foster's and would love another playful dog in her forever home. Since settling into her foster home,   Petra has demonstrated some territorial behaviors and general nervousness with meeting new people .   We believe she will do best in a Shepherd-savvy home.   Petra is such a sweet girl who would love a home with an active family! Rush is an Old English word meaning 'weaver' usually using the reeds known as rushes. And let me tell you, that name suits me as I'm a real pro at weaving...weaving my way right up into your heart!!! I'm a youngster coming in at around 6 months. What a perfect age to be your lil spongey sidekick...soaking up everything! I'm affectionate with people both tall and small, get on good with the other foster pups but haven't met any of those strange creatures y'all call a cat yet. Being active and playful I'd do great in a home with another playful 'sibling' or as your adventure buddy getting all the attention. I come in at right around 36lbs and will make a fabulous mediumish size boy to share in all your activities whether it's monitoring your yardwork skills to making sure you have a blast on our action packed adventures. Whatever is your preference I'm game on giving it a whirl!! My beautiful short coat is low in the maintenance department making me more of a wash-n-go type of fella. Perfect for being ready to go at the drop of a hat!! I've got a moderate energy level which will require some daily exercise and playtime but with that in I should do just fine in town with a yard, out in the country or anywhere in between.
