Story
Let me introduce myself - My name is Deuce. I'm part Great Dane, part Black Lab and 100% goofy! Play time is the absolute best, especially with other dogs with similar play styles. I love going on adventures, like hiking, exploring, and car rides - yes please! I've been told I'm a bit of a sun-worshipper - who doesn't enjoy a good nap, soaking up some rays?!?! I play nicely with my stuffed toys and even share nicely with my canine friends. If I get bored while alone, I will find something to keep me busy, so I much prefer to have a human or canine companion. I'm treat motived and know some basic commands, like sit and down. I enjoy learning new commands and skills, I may not be the fastest learner, but I am a thorough learner. Deuce has been at the shelter since August 2021 - he is so ready for his forever home. Deuce has a little extra in his swagger, kind of a "John Wayne" walk. Occasionally you'll catch him skip a beat in his gait or he might easily trip, but it certainly doesn't slow him down for walks, jogs, or play time. If anything, it makes him even more interesting and endearing. Deuce may chase cats that run but may be able to co-exist with cats that stand their ground. Mostly he just wants to play with them. Deuce can be a little unsure around new people so he will need a patient adopter that allows him to get to know new people at his pace. Most importantly, Deuce is loving, loyal and will melt to the ground when doted on - he will make a truly wonderful companion and keep you smiling from all his silly antics!

Story
Meet Percy, a 1.5-2 year old Great Dane mix (possibly part Great Pyr) found Oct. 11th in Austin, TX. He’s neutered (on 10/26 so better for long term health), micro chipped, flea treated and current on all vaccines - ready for his forever home! He’s house trained and does well gated in a room when we leave the house. He’s a big boy, over 110 lbs and 32” at the shoulder - very playful! His personality and energy match his size. He loves toys and runs in the yard, especially with our dogs. He needs plenty of room inside and out and would love playmates. He’d be happiest with a family who loves the outdoors as well as couch cuddles. We spend a few hours outside together every day and he’s great in the yard, rarely barking at passing neighbors. We prefer no young kids due to his size and energy. He loves our dogs and cats and spent the last few months building trust. We’ve taught him to sit and he’s both praise and food motivated. Help us find Percy his perfect forever home!

This is Wednesday. She is a 3-year-old harlequin Great Dane. She is spayed and current on all vaccinations. She loves everyone. Well trained. Has lots of energy. She is in need of a new home because she is a big leaner, which is not a good thing when you have elderly people in the house. If interested in giving the sweet girl, a new home, please go to our website and fill out the adoption application. www.pawsofaustin.org

Story
Charlie is one of two Great Danes that were rescued from an abandoned home. He was left in the yard during the cold freezing weather without food or water. Luckily the police stepped in and he was removed and brought in to our rescue. Charlie is a beautiful harlequin Great Dane. He is estimated to be about a year old. He is on the small size of the breed, probably due to poor nutrition and lack of care. Charlie gets along with other dogs. Charlie is neutered and he is current on all vaccinations. Unfortunately he is HW+ (like most the dogs we get from South Texas), but started the treatment. If you'd like to give this sweet boy a new home, please go to our website and fill out the adoption application.

Story
Blue is one of two Great Danes that were rescued from an abandoned home in Santa Rosa TX, near the Mexico border. The dogs were left in the yard during the cold freezing weather without food or water. A concerned neighbor posted pictures on FB, so people started calling the local police Dept. After endless calls, the PD went to the house and let the dogs out of the yard. The dogs got picked up and next day came into our rescue. Once we got the dogs, we took them to our vet, where they were examined and vaccinated. It's obvious that these dogs did not get the care they needed, as both were very emaciated and underweight. Blue is estimated to be about 1 1/2 years old. He is on the small size of the breed, due to poor nutrition and lack of care. Blue is neutered and he is current on all vaccinations. Unfortunately he is HW+ (like most the dogs we get from South Texas), but started the treatment. If you'd like to give Blue a new loving home, please go to our website and fill out the adoption application.

Story
Poor Daisy was dumped across the street from her foster moms’ house on Easter Sunday. They watched the car drive away with her chasing behind, but she gave up pretty quickly and started sniffing around to try to figure out where she was. Daisy’s panic was cut short when her foster moms scooped her up and took her to their home. She was skin and bones, all ribs, hips, and vertebra plainly visible, with scabs and sores all over. She tested positive for heartworm and hookworm. Her foster moms are working closely with their vet to get her healthy for her forever home. Daisy is a big girl - at 50 lbs emaciated, she’ll likely be 70-80 once she’s filled out. She is estimated to be 4-5 years old. She quickly fell in love with her foster moms and wants to be as close to them as possible at all times. She’s working on the concept of “personal space” but hasn’t quite grasped it yet. She gets along well with the resident dogs and cats but needs to be leashed around the outside animals (chickens, goats, horses, etc). Because she was starved, she does have some resource guarding issues with food and currently needs to be fed in a crate. She walks amazingly on a loose leash with her 3 foster brothers. She is house trained and is working on crate training. She has not yet been tested with children but with proper introduction, her foster moms expect she would be fine, though she might knock them over trying to get pets. As underweight as she is, she’s still pretty strong! Daisy loves tug of war and is learning about every other way she can have fun. We’ll continue to update her bio as we get to know her better.April 17, 2024, 12:47 pm
