Adoptable in: MA, RI, NH, CT, and VTGood with dogs: YesGood with cats: Unknown, likely yesGood with kids: Yes, dog-savvy kidsCrate trained: MostlyHouse Trained: Mostly Fred Weasley truly is the definition of a gentle giant. He is a sweet, laid back pup who thrives on human affection. He is a low to medium energy dog who enjoys a romp in the yard, followed by a nap or some time chewing on his bones and deer antlers. Fred would benefit from an owner who is familiar with his breed and is dedicated to continuing his training. He has a playful demeanor and loves to play with dogs of all ages and sizes. Fred is a bouncy boy who takes cues from other dogs well and would be a perfect candidate for doggy daycare. He has not yet met a cat, but with his calm disposition he would likely be fine. Fred loves children and would do best in a home with dog savvy children. At the end of the day, he loves to snuggle up on the floor to watch a movie with his family.Fred is a smart boy who loves to show off his “sit” command for a treat (or two). While he’d rather be hanging out with you on the couch and lets you know it, he is crated occasionally throughout the day and overnight. Fred loves being part of the family and would make a great work from home buddy. He is mostly house trained, and with time and patience he will master it quickly. He enjoys walking on a leash and looks to his humans for encouragement, especially when he hears loud noises. Fred would love a patient, loving family who will be able to show him the ropes of puppyhood. Is this big ole fluffball the one for you? Please Note: All dogs currently available for adoption are posted on our website. If you cannot find a particular dog on our website, he/she may be on a temporary foster hold. All dogs are otherwise posted until they are officially adopted. Story
Name: Fergus Sex: Male Breed: Great Pyrenees/Anatolian Shepherd Age: Born Sept 2020 Dogs/cats: Adoptable in MA & NH Stunning isn’t he? Meet Fergus! This boy is a 3 1/2-year young Great Pyrenees/ Anatolian Shepherd(+) mix, (DNA tested) and embodies the typical livestock guardian dog traits and personality. Fergus has never been a working dog. He is happy to live in a house with his humans, provided he has a fenced back yard to spend time in. He is house trained and presently shares space with a 13-year-old female dog and a 13-year-old cat. He loves his daily walks and thoroughly enjoys affection from his people. For a Pyr/Anatolian mix, he’s quite food driven and enjoys learning new things. He’s flawless on a leash, crate trained, and muzzle trained. What Fergus really needs is a home with people who understand AND appreciate LGD breed traits. What does that actually mean? That his behaviors are a feature, not a flaw. ~ Features such as barking when a car pulls up to the house, when strangers enter the home, or when alerting to perceived threats. IYKYK Fergus is open to having his trusted human help him navigate through who is actually a threat, and when you pair new things with a tasty tidbit, he’s happy to change his associations. ~ Fergus is protective of his meals (who isn’t?). This is easily solved by feeding Fergus in a gated area. ~ Fergus may be 100 lbs of stunning, but he’s actually a sensitive guy and would thrive with a family who wants that special bond with their dog. I promise you that when you meet him and look into those beautiful eyes, you’ll see his sweet soul in there. Fergus needs a family who is 100% committed to using humane, evidence based methods of training. He’s had some unfortunate experiences in the past, and we promised him that his new family would continue with the training he is currently receiving. At 3 years old, Fergus is just now hitting maturity, which every LGD breed lover has been waiting for. He’s working through his big feelings and is ready to be your steadfast companion and partner. Fergus is a very special boy who is looking for his special people. To be transparent, Fergus struggles with some handling issues resulting in him using teeth to get his message across. Recently, he has been learning to trust and be trusted and has made great progress. His future family will benefit from relationship-based training that focuses on consent and kindness. His wonderful trainer has offered to donate a pre-adoptions session to his next (forever) family! For questions, please email adoptions@survivortails.org. If you are interested in Fergus and fit the needs/requirements described in this profile, you can apply to adopt online at www.survivortails.org. NOTE: We can only adopt to residents of MA or NH.

Story
Meet cuddly Mario. He is a brown, dusted with black, and white Great Pyrenees mix born 12/25/2022. He is going to be big! He is up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative and has been given a ProHeart 6 for heartworm protection. His adoption donation is $450.00 and the transport fee $165.00. The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an online adoption application. You can find a copy of that application here. We sometimes receive a lot of interest on an animal and can't always reply to each email in a timely manner. An application does not obligate you to adopt from us, but it does show that you are serious about the adoption process. Please remember we are all volunteers. After you submit your application, please allow a few days for a volunteer to review your application. During this time your vet reference will be checked and a volunteer with determine if it is the best match for you and the animal. Applications are not approved on a first come, first serve basis. We match up the best home for the animal, so even if the pet has other applications, this does not mean he/she will be adopted to that home. Once your application has been approved a volunteer with contact you to set up a phone interview. This is the perfect time for you to ask any questions you have about the adoption process and the animal you are interested in.

Story
My name is Chachi and I am a very handsome and loving Great Pyrenees boy that is 18 months old and only 98 pounds.  I am big but NOT HUGE!   You see me smiling?Well, I do this all the time because I am a happy dog and I want people to know that I am very friendly and ready to be petted.   I really do like all people and all dogs that I meet.  I really, really love children too!   They say that my breed requires a fenced yard and I have to say that is a really good idea.  I like spending time outside and you really don’t want to have to sit and watch me for safety reasons if you don’t have a secured fence.   So…. if you have a physical fenced yard then Critter Cavalry Rescue would like to speak with you.  I think that if you love BIG dogs that I am a rather handsome dude to consider.  Mud puddles might NOT be my friend but big snow falls and deep banks would make me really happy!  I could stay clean very easily.   I am almost housebroken, and crate trained.    I would like to be your inside cuddle/lovebug and maybe help you start the new year off to a nice white fluffy start!  Contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com ASAP and ask all the questions you want about filling out an adoption form.    PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comApril 19, 2024, 8:26 am

Story
My name is Ocean and I am a 4 year old Great Pyrenees mix girl that is on the smaller side of 70 pounds and I love being outdoors.   I am looking for a home with some land to run on and a family  that will let me be inside as well as outside.  I am housebroken, great with children and dogs and good on a leash.   If I want out of a chain link yard, I will make sure I find a way out.  The only fence that would completely keep me contained is a privacy fence or a six foot iron fence that I cannot climb.  I just being a free spirit and so I could see myself living in the Northeast especially where it is cold and maybe out in the country or woods where I can explore but willing to always come home. I am truly a loving and sweet girl that  you will never regret loving or adopting.  My current family adores me but their yard is small and I need more room to run and enjoy my Great Pyrenees habits of being an outdoorsy kind of breed.   If you are interested then please write to Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com   I am ready to find my final family to love with all my pretty and pure heart. April 19, 2024, 8:26 am
