Story
Hazel is a 4-year-old, 60 lb. Siberian Husky/Shepherd mix who was dumped at a shelter pregnant last summer. She had 8 beautiful pups and has been patiently waiting on someone to choose her. Hazel is dog selective and is an alpha. She should be okay with another dog as long as she is the alpha and has a slow introduction. She was excellent with her pups as they got older and found homes. She is more relaxed with other dogs around and awaits patiently for the other dogs to come out to run with her up and down the fence at her foster home (there is a fence in between). She has done fine with a younger female dog and has played with her, but she did not so well with another dominant female. Hazel is super sweet and loves to run, play, and be pet and loved on. She has just had a rough go of it and takes time to build trust. She has a lot of energy and needs a lot of exercise. Hazel will need a patient person to give her plenty of love and attention.

Story
Patches is 8 months old and is such a sweet boy who is dog and kid friendly. He is also house trained as well. Patches is just a happy go lucky boy. He has been waiting for over 6 months for his home. We pulled Hazel, Patches' mom, from Duplin County Animal Shelter last summer. Hazel was going to be euthanized at the shelter. Hazel ended up being pregnant when we pulled her and two of her pups are still left and one is Patches. We do not know what breed the father was, but Hazel is a Siberian Husky/Shepherd Mix.

Story
Pumpkin is a nearly 5-year-old Husky known for his playful and friendly nature, particularly enjoying the company of other dogs. While he was raised alongside cats, his current disposition towards them is uncertain. Regrettably, Pumpkin's owner can no longer afford to care for him due to the demands of holding two jobs and the consequent guilt of leaving him alone for extended periods. Pumpkin seeks a new home that can provide him with ample space to play and run freely. If you're searching for a devoted and spirited companion, Pumpkin could be the ideal addition to your family.

Story
Baxter is approximately four years old and came to us as a stray. He is likely a German shepherd/husky mix and is an adorable guy with one brown and one blue eye. He is extremely sweet and loving. He is good with my dog so we think he would love a doggie brother or sister. The foster doens't have children but based on personality we think he would be good with children. He has been totally housebroken and learned to use the doggie door on his own on the second day at his foster home. He has been fully vetted and is ready to go to his forever home. He does need work on walking on a leash and on basic manners but he's a smart boy and he'll catch on quickly.    Applications can be filled out at www.piedmontanimalrescue.com/adopt!  Petfinder and Adopt-A-Pet does NOT send us Applications.   We receive many applications and many never respond after processing GREATLY delaying the pets forever home.  Please only apply if you are serious about adopting.  Please also make sure your pets are up to date on you species applicable Vaccines (rabies, Distemper/Parvo, FVRCP, Bordetella), spayed/neutered, and on Heartworm prevention if a canine.   The adoption fee includes their age appropriate vaccinations(DA2PP and Bordetella), Dewormer, spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm test as well as the registration of their microchip information to you. Story
Athena was from a shelter and is a very good dog she came in as a stray so she she had no back story. It turns out her breed is not allowed in the home that I rent and have to search for her a home that she can be in. She loves attention she just started coming out of her shell and playing with toys. She normally just lays around when we’re just watching tv or in the kitchen. She’s very curious about new people and animals she wants to play with any dog she sees she gets very excited. She is a lovely dog and hope to find her a happy home
