Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Peppercorn is a very sweet, loving dog who forms a very strong bond with his human. He wants to be with you, and would do best in an active household that can provide him with a higher than normal level of physical and mental activity typically needed by his breed types. He loves fetch, walks, and toys. He is very intelligent and responsive to training, curious and adventurous. He knows, sit, stay, lay down, and 'give me paw'. Peppercorn would do best in a household of older children (12+) who are able to read his body language and respect his boundaries, as well as provide him with firm instructions/boundaries and stop play if Peppercorn becomes too rough. His adult owners should be confident leaders and breed savvy about the temperament, needs, and stubbornness of Jack Russells and Miniature Pinschers.  Peppercorn is a very energetic puppy who is still learning manners when it comes to playing with other dogs. He generally does well with other dogs of all breeds and sizes if he is thoroughly exercised and engaged, however if bored/understimulated he will challenge both dominant and submissive dogs for play or their toys. His play style can become rough, and he should not be left unsupervised with other dogs until he has fully integrated into the household and understands/respects other dogs' thresholds. His foster continues to work with him on this, and his new home should be prepared to continue exercises to help reduce or eliminate this behavior. Any introductions to other dogs and children should be done slowly and carefully by adults. Peppercorn had a lot of instability in his short life, and also suffered from skin and digestive irritation due to suspected fleas/mites and/or allergens. Being constantly in pain made him reactive toward other dogs, and his humans when they tried to treat him. Now that he has established trust with his foster, he allows his human to easily give him baths, clean his paws, trim nails, and so on. For his first initial vet visits, the vet should apply a muzzle. His paws should be kept clean at the end of the day as the cause of irritation to his paws could still be related to allergies. This is a very easy routine that Peppercorn has now come to love, and he will fall asleep in his human's lap.  Because of the instability and level of constant pain/discomfort Peppercorn suffered, aversive training tools or techniques like shock/e collars, prong collars, etc. should NOT be used as that will make him anxious, insecure, and reactive.  Peppercorn should be kept in a crate when his humans are not at home, and should be fed separately from other dogs to prevent any food guarding/aggression while he is settling into the home and establishing his place. Peppercorn generally ignores cats, but will chase if one runs. Peppercorn is learning recall but his prey drive for wildlife is high, and so should never be allowed off leash unless in a secure area.'Peppercorn is up to date with vaccines, and on monthly heartworm/flea/tick meds.     Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ Click here for the ADOPTION APPLICATION if you are interested in adopting this pet. Story
Sugar and Spice and everything nice! Spice and her sister Sugar were rescued from a pretty sad living situation. They are around 30 pounds and roughly one year old. Both sisters love attention from their human friends and also love other dogs. They are bonded and would love a home together, but can be adopted separately. Spice is tan with white and black markings. She's submissive, but does have a "spicy attitude and will let you know what she thinks about it! Overall, she has a very calm and relaxed demeanor especially when she knows she is in a safe place/at home. She does well with potty training, but is still working on leash training. She is very gentle and loving with a little side of sass! Spice would make a great pet for almost any home. She is ready to be adopted and can travel to her adoptive home now! If you're interested in welcoming me or any of my delightful Funny Farm companions into your home, kindly visit ffpets.org. There, you can find information about our Tennessee-based rescue, and gain insights into the adoption process! The adoption fee is $325, with an additional $200 required for transportation. Please note that at the moment, this adorable pet is in the care of a foster home in Tennessee but will be lovingly transported to your location once the adoption process is successfully completed. For details on meeting locations and transport arrangements, simply click on the "Transport" tab at ffpets.org. We strongly encourage you to thoroughly review all transport-related information before submitting your adoption application.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :)When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :)Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!Hi my name is Roxy! I was taken from a home that could only be entered by first putting on a respirator, and gloves along with my half-sisters Isabell & Smokey. The 3 of us are so thankful to be with 2nd Chance! I am a very sweet gal who loves affection and kisses, I have LOTS of energy, and Smokey and I LOVE to play together. Smokey and I have lived together all of our lives, so for that reason we must be adopted together. We require a fenced yard.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.   A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!April 15, 2024, 12:36 pm
